I'm sorry but think it's wayyyy too early to start thinking about a new album. Don't kill me.

Agreed, don't think there will be one for at least a couple of years.

I agree, I just think it's exciting to think about the possibilities  Don't get me wrong though, if I had the choice I'd rather wait longer for a really powerful album (on the scale of Dookie or AI) than wait for not that long and get something like Uno Dos Tre :)

8 studio albums in the last 13 years, everything is possible.

I know but i feel like billie wants to take his time with this next album. I don't think he wants to get overwhelmed like he did with the trilogy. Although i gotta admit that the next album, when it comes out, is going to be legendary.

I'm hoping for an improved Cigarettes and Valentine's, and I want it to get big. I want huge albums in all years ending in a 4

Polka.

Or an improvised Tre Cool mushroom tambourine album.

Insomniac was the ONLY GD album (not counting the EPs) released a year apart from a previous album...

I wouldn't hold my breath for a 2014 album

Agreed, it'd be way too soon I think. The guys should probably take a big break after this tour :) Although if they do decide to produce something more live sounding and less produced the next time around, maybe it'll take them less time to record because they'll spend less time polishing it up?

Yes it's also impossible for the new tour

2015 or 2016 will be when the next album is out :)

Depends could be faster or could be the same just depends on how well re hearsed they are with the songs

The trilogy was recorded live except for the vocals no overdubs on instruments (my suspension is that's why Jason was upgraded from touring to studio)

Whatever happens I'll be buying all editions of it that's for sure

I've mentioned on the podcast that I think the songs that are going to come out from this period are going to be exceptional. I can only imagine the type of stuff going through Billie's head as he's gone through all this. I really hope writing gives him a proper outlet. As much as I like Green Day's music, Billie's lyrics have always been king for me.

This was the major complaint for the trilogy too---that the lyrics were not up to standard. And considering all that BJ is going through, I'm wildly excited to see the lyrics that come out on the next record. I don't even care what it sounds like---there hasn't been a Green Day sound that I dislike, even if I prefer certain styles to others. Dookie & AI sound completely different, but I love them equally because the lyrics are hard hitting. The sound itself has always been secondary to me.

I'm surprised more critics and cynics haven't jumped on Billie's "I love shitty sounding records" comment :P Haters could easily turn that into "Obviously, your records sound like shit!" Personally, I *don't* prefer shitty sounding albums. I'm also kind of confused if he was referring to the trilogy when he said he wished they would have recorded with more of a live sound... because they made that clear in interviews that the trilogy was meant to capture more of that live in the studio sound. So either he was referring to AI/21CB, or he really does want to go back to that Kerplunk live sound, which, though awesome at the time, I would not necessarily want to hear again. And considering how so many people love Tre the most, and it was the most polished, I would say they're better off sticking to the current sound.

I think Billie is interested in another opera, he's also interested in the theater world which I hope he returns to. I wouldn't mind if the next album, being perhaps the most insanely personal and deep one yet (fingers crossed), is actually a musical. Doesn't even have to be a "rock opera" (I'm still too dumb to really differentiate between rock musical and rock opera, but I think opera just implies there's no dialogue in between...). I think it would be a healthy and refreshing change of pace if, instead of doing it as Green Day (but obviously with Mike and Tre as right-hand-men), Billie just writes some glorious songs, teams up with Michael Mayer, and releases a musical.

Or, on a separate note, I'm also still waiting for a BIllie Joe solo acoustic album. I think it would be a nice thing for him to do, maybe a low-pressure, low-key, low-attention break from Green Day.

Hell yeah!

one with reggae & ska songs

I'd love to see them with experiment with that! Agreed, more of Tre's solos would be awesome too

Naturally, it'll be an album by the Foxboro Network- you know, garage synth- and sound something like The Velvet Underground meets Duran Duran. It will receive a lukewarm reception worldwide with the exception of Germany, where it will debut at #1 and hold this position until 2033. Green Day will spend the rest of its career in Berlin playing in front of 120,000 people while opening for David Hasselhoff. Guaranteed.

They need to stop thinking they have to set the bar higher. I'm fine with another flop next. In fact, I prefer the next album to be "normal". They need to just get it out quick. A nice, short, 12-14 song album with no theme whatsoever.

Devo and Eurythmics will be credited as "strong inspirational sources" and Mike will adopt a tight fitting, ruby encrusted, polyester tank top.

They're gonna do a full rap album with the lead single being called "Money Booteh Booteh" feat. Nicki Minaj. The song will make it #1 ....

Personally I have a feeling the TRE vibe is going to be there on the next one but maybe more of a rock opera version of it.

I don't know why, it's just a gut feeling I have but, I feel like green day will make another rock opera and it will be out 2015-2016. And it will be as good as American idiot, if not it will top it. I know this is WAY to early to have this talk but I feel like its possible considering how random and unpredictable green day is.

If there are as many unreleased songs as Mike has hinted at recently, and if Billie writes a lot of new stuff as a form of therapy, we might see an album in late 2014 for AI's and Dookie's 10th and 20th anniversaries. I'd assume a rock opera would follow in 2016, like you said.

I really really hope they release another rock opera! Although not as poltical as AI and 21CB. More along the theme of TRE :)

It will sound like American Idiot but with no story-line and a bit of Insomniac-ness to it. 13-20

It will be available on CD, vinyl, and digitally from many fine retailers. WORLDWIDE, BITCHES.

Billie Joe said in the interview that "Lazy Bones" and "Hitchin' A Ride" were written about his substance abuse- 2 of my favourite Green Day songs. If what he said about a live rock opera recorded on tape is going to happen, this has the potential to beat American Idiot. I have a feeling it will be very dark, and a masterpiece, both musically and lyrically.
