Andrew Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 In the Rolling Stone interview it sounded like they were thinking of marking the Dookie and AI anniversaries in some way so we could get something special released, maybe live recordings of the full albums? That would be cool.
ThibautDookie Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 I would love to hear a new album with their old punk sound and also i'm really wanting that dvd with Pre-Dookie footage !
SumDay Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 well I think it's not even that unlikely that we get a new album 2014. They don't have to spend that much time for the recording, 'cause of the "live-sound". That could also mean that the songs are going to be better.
Guest DisapppearingBoy Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 i think they are gonna release garage punk type of record. Sounding more natural than forced sounding on DOS.
WhiteTim Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 We wont get a new album in 2014 and more world tours. That'd the total opposite of "taking things slowly" 2014 i see the US leg of the tour plus the re release of American Idiot with the HLAHG documentary (since the director said it'd come for the 10th anniversary of AI) Maybe a 20th anniversary release of Dookie or the Dookie and earlier documentary? Who knows
That Dude Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 American Idiot II. American Idiot was sort of Billie Joe's growing up story. The next one could have St. Jimmy coming back from the dead (figuratively of course) and causing more trouble in Billie's modern life. WOW.
PanicAttack! Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 The problem is, before Green Day release a new record this probably won't be the last thread asking this same question. It's not the first one either, saw one a few months ago. Have you noticed that the answers are always the same? Somebody wants a rock opera, somebody wants something in style of an old album, and somebody is excited whatever they'll do. I'm on the last one, but what do anyone benefit from knowing that? Shouldn't this kind of thread be regulated in some way? Say, at least a year after their last record, and only one thread per potential new album?
iScottie Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 They should take a lot of the songs they have written right now and release them as B-Sides so we can hear what hasn't been published yet. I honestly don't want them to release anything "new" soon. They've been at writing new things and taking on all these new projects for almost 10 straight years now and we've all seen how that turned out with their personal health. They need to just take a break and relax if you ask me.
Virtuous Xman Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 Aren't we all a little spoiled? I'm just as excited for new Green Day as anyone, but c'mon guys! We just got 36 new songs and 3 very solid albums and GD hasn't even toured yet lol. It's gonna be a long time before we get another album...but when it does happen I'm sure it will be amazing Personally I see them releasing another album next year. 1. The label may ask if they don't see uno, dos, tre doing better. 2. Billie and the gang are always moving forward and writing. Therefore they may want to put out more music instead of just waiting. 3. They have mentioned before in the past that they may record 40 - 70 songs for an album and only release what we get. The gang then takes the songs they feel are the best and fit what they are trying to get across. Songs that are not put out may get put out later aka Haushinka, Drama Queen, Ciggarettes and Valentines, When It's time. I mean if you actually ask them how old a song really is. You'd be surprised. I don't believe for one second that each album has songs that they just wrote. It is possible, however it is very likely a few on each album are songs written and recorded a long time ago and now chagned to an extent.
MaraGreenDay Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 Wow, a lot of people really believe that Green Day is gonna release a new album next year!!! I really don´t know what to think, i mean, i can see them recording a new album soon, after what happen maybe the guys wants to be together again, recording a new album but without less stress and taking things slowly, but then again i think that maybe after what happen they maybe want to take a time off just to be with the family and rest for a while, but like i said before, it´s Green Day and those guys are always surprising us all the time, so i really don´t know what to expect. What i really think it´s that maybe we´re gonna have something very special for the anniversary of Dookie and American Idiot and of course we have the tour, i´m just excited about it

Since they are a really tight unit, recording does not take them that long to do. So its really up int the air. They may just releas an ep for the time until they have a good amount of time to do a full album.

Yojimbo Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 I don't know when but I would really like an album that really showcases Billie's vocal talents. Maybe an acoustic one like Grace or something.
FatVince Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 Another trilogy: one with reggae & ska songs, one with piano ballads (with 7-minutes piano & guitar solos) and one with Tré's drums solos.
HolyHandGrenade Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 Another trilogy: one with reggae & ska songs, one with piano ballads (with 7-minutes piano & guitar solos) and one with Tré's drums solos. And interpretive dancing music videos
WhiteTim Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 one with piano ballads (with 7-minutes piano & guitar solos) We dont need them to take the Guns And Roses route....
jacknovella Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 I have a feeling they'll mix the energy and pop-punk songwriting featured in Nimrod, combined with the maturity of 21st Century Breakdown. As much as I'd love another American Idiot, I just don't think the guys could do it (and it might ruin the first album if they did). They did try with 21CB to top it, but the fact that the trilogy was such a massive turnaround from the really big, overproduced, polished sound makes me doubt the fact that they'll ever attempt it again. No matter what they come out with though, I hope the lyrics go back to being as finely-tuned as they were ten years ago. Still love the trilogy, and realise that it'd sound odd paired with perfect poetry, but lyrics are what I love, and Billie's work mid-career blows my mind. I'll agree with this, especially the lyrics part. I love the trilogy for it's simplicity and the fact that it's refreshing after the contextual weight of American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown, but I think my enjoyment of it is mostly due to that refreshment factor. What I mean is that the Green Day that has that extra depth to it, for example with the characters and the links between songs, is the band that I love the most and would love to see again for the next project they undertake.
Sirens-of-Decay Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 After reading the Rolling Stone article, I like all of Billie's new ideas, I remember him saying something about a really raw album or something along the lines of that, I can't remember exactly. A concept album would be pretty fun too, but more like AI, opposed to 21CB. I want something with an American Idiot vibe, but I'll love anything they put out really.

There was something about 21st Century Breakdown that make it seem "sculpted to perfection" to the point where it was an effort to listen at certain points.
TheGrouch33 Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 in the interview with rolling stone, Billie Joe said he'd love to do a rock opera with like lo fi production. I'm definitely excepting something lo f but then again i was expecting the trilogy to be lo fii who said the trilogy was going to be lo-fi? since Rob Cavallo has been producing their albums from Nimrod onwards they´ve been far from a lo-fi production, so i kind of expected a polished sound for the trilogy but with more straight-foward songs of course ^^
JIGD13 Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 I think that the next Green Day album will be the one with the most personal lyrics they will ever do

jacknovella Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 I think that the next Green Day album will be the one with the most personal lyrics they will ever do I hope so, I'm sure Billie Joe will take a lot from his time off and the mental state he was in and it'll manifest really potently on the next album. Like he's said before, it has to come from an inspired place.

TheNimrod51 Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 I'm sorry but think it's wayyyy too early to start thinking about a new album. Don't kill me.
