Heather. Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 i hope they win something! i was a little disappointed that they weren't nominated for a vma this year, i'm pretty sure oh love was eligible. Well for once I would say that if this is indeed the "Video Music Award," Oh Love was one of the worst music videos of all time, so I would almost lose respect for MTV if they nominated it (Although the extended R-rated version was definitely better)
Heather. Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 true the only reason i thought it might get nominated is because mtv have pretty much had them in the rock category every single time they've put anything out since american idiot....and i'm just dying to see them on tv again. oh well. at least i won't have to watch it this year now. Yeah. I actually wish they awarded the best videos and not just hit songs. Like, there was nothing really special about the BOBD video as far as I'm concerned, but it was such a big song it swept every category, when in reality American Idiot should have won for everything because that was actually an awesome video Like Stray Heart should win. But this isn't the Oscars
The Grohl Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Yeah, I'm not surprised Green Day wasn't nominated for any VMA's. None of those videos for the Trilogy were amazing, especially "Oh Love."
Sanity Loan Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Is this even a real thing? The bad spelling is throwing me off
JOE THE X-KID Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 I know Green day wont win anything but still its nice to know i participated
Dirntbag Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Oh god... I voted, I really hope Green Day at least wins Best Live Act. They deserve it.
amdr182 Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 I voted. It would be awesome if they won something, but I doubt it.
Steven Seagull Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Uno and Tre were mutch better albums so I don't know why Dos is nominated.
Certified Nimrod Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Yeah, I'm not surprised Green Day wasn't nominated for any VMA's. None of those videos for the Trilogy were amazing, especially "Oh Love." The video for Stray Heart was very good, but the others weren't anything special.
The Grohl Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 The video for Stray Heart was very good, but the others weren't anything special. Oh yeah, I forgot about Stray Heart. That one was good. I think everyone always forgets about that one because everyone talks about Oh Love.
elisa Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Yeah, I'm not surprised Green Day wasn't nominated for any VMA's. None of those videos for the Trilogy were amazing, especially "Oh Love." the VMAs are never about they actual quality of the videos though. It's all about popularity.
The Grohl Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 the VMAs are never about they actual quality of the videos though. It's all about popularity. There was a time when it was about the quality of the videos. Maybe now it's not, but it's hard to know what they judge it on seeing as there are very few stations dedicated to music videos. I guess they go by youtube views or some shit like that. Even if popularity was the case then it still makes sense why GD weren't nominated. Those videos weren't that popular.
The Forgotten Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 They stand a chance for worlds best live act........ Dos was personally my favorite album of the year but it won't win for sure. And yea, best group is impossible for them to win. I will vote whenever I can remember too though

I think they choose the winners based on how often the videos get requested/played on all MTV channels. plus how many hits those artists get on mtv.com These past 10 years the quality of the VMAs (and other MTV award shows) went decreasing every year. It has very little to do with the quality of the music videos anymore. It's more self promotion (half the guests are all MTV celebrities) and those artists MTV has been promoting during the year. and I suppose Green Day weren't nominated this year because yes, the trilogy wasn't very popular and the band did basically zero promotion on MTV and other medias (aside from those small clips released on the mtv website last september).
dangreenday Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Just seen this on Twitter, Green Day are nominated in three categories in the World Music Awards, Worlds Best Album (¡Dos!), Worlds Best Group, and Worlds Best Live Act, vote at http://www.worldmusicawards.com/#!vote/c1dlv Voted !!!!!!!!!!!

I think it also has to do with money. Call me cynical but I wouldn't be surprised if money was exchanged to get people nominated. Companies are known to do it all the time for good reviews.
The Forgotten Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 shit, I was impatient and started clicking a lot. I accidentally voted for Adele for Best album. fuck you shitty internet connection

Akshat Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 I just hope they win something.I see a lot of challenge from Muse,30stm,Linkin Park and all these mainstream bands. But they have won such awards before and their popularity has only gone up.
JIGD13 Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 This is not new there's already a thread for this_ http://www.greendaycommunity.org/topic/92721-green-day-up-for-world-music-awards/?view=findpost&p=5161276&hl=%2Bworld+%2Bmusic+%2Bawards
Iva Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Wanted to vote, but now I'm going to e-mail them about lack of apostrophes on their website. ARGH. And there's so much utter shite among nominations. Why does most of the world listen to this downright crap?
fromdecimateddreams Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 There's like way too many people/albums to vote for holy shit. There had to be at least a hundred in there for "best live act" so how they expect to get a conclusive winner out of that many I have no idea.
