Was it rough on your wife and sons to be at home, watching you go through withdrawal?

I kept it away from my sons pretty good. My dogs kept looking at me, wondering how Im doing. They can sense that stuff. I could have gone to a facility, but this way I could be around my loved ones. And my wife doesnt drink. Never has. She doesnt like the taste or the smell.

I understand that articles often leave unfinished and misleading quotes generally to create sensational headlines that sell more copies of their magazines etc but in this case I fail to understand how the senior writer for Rolling Stone would incorrectly quote Billie in this case...he already had the world exclusive story on his rehab, it's hardly a headline grabbing quote to drop in and if it was a screw up...how exactly did it occur in context? Re-read the sentence...Billie is talking about how he could have gone to a facility but "This way I could be around my loved ones. And my wife doesn't drink. Never has." So what...the full sentence should read "And my wife doesn't drink coffee. Never has". Seriously? That makes absolutely no sense at all!!

Why aren't the scans up on the original post already? (can't any mod post them there?) I keep seeing posts of people who can't find the scans so I think it would be a good idea to have them there.

Maybe Billie made a mistake or something.

Mistake by what? In his song or in the interview ?

It's a strange, but maybe he did'nt want to mention in his interview that his wife drinks?

But I don't thnik that she is a drinker :pinch:

As one of the people 'overanalyzing,' I think I've only observed respectful and not-too-invasive analysis and thought going on in this thread so far. Sure, we're harping on at length as 'psychologists,' but we're being rational human beings about it.

As for the Adrienne thing... I think if Billie Joe says someone "doesn't drink" it could be in the context of "she's not a drinker," as in she'll have a glass of wine or a beer now and again, but that he doesn't live with someone who would feel the need to drink and could easily give up drinking while around him. Perfectly reasonable explanation for the misunderstanding here, but then people assume it means 80 NEVER drinks, which is why she felt the need to correct it. Eh, either way, it's not important, and I don't really understand why people are acting as if Billie lied for suspicious reasons.

Lets not forget it was rolling stone that thought he had a daughter named Josie.

LOL what? When did that happen?

It was when Joey was a toddler lol. Something like, "what book are you reading right now?" and the answer was, "The big red truck (or something like that). Me and my wife read it every night to our daughter, Josie." Then they had to retract that he doesn't have a daughter named Josie but he does in fact have a son named Joey.

Yeah come on, it's got to be a mix up. He's trying to come clean in the interview, not lie. Everything else in there is so honest, it seems stupid to lie about something like that.

lol, you'd think they'd get that right, but it's living proof of the mistakes rolling stone can make!

TWITTER: mnnesotagirl: Correction... I never liked the taste of coffee. I've never drank coffee.

This is confusing... how can someone not like the taste of coffee that they never drank? The point: how can you say yay or nay to liking something if you've never experienced it?

You can "taste" something without officially drinking/eating all of it. "I've never drank coffee" just sounds like bad grammar for "I don't drink coffee", as in not voluntarily or rarely drinking it.

I'm sure that means she's tried it and not liked it and not done it since. I've never smoked as a habit, but I have tried it.

I don't like the taste of coffee, therefore I've never drank it. AKA I smelled it once, sipped it for a second, and vowed never again :P Easy.

But the mistake in this case was "Josie" for "Joey" therefore Billie had a daughter instead of a son. So Rolling Stone got a name wrong...bit of a difference in this case. The entire answer Billie gave was about how this impacted his sons and wife and his answer was brief: one line on his sons, one about his dogs and then this apparantly completely "inaccurate" statement about his wife...so how is that the same as a misheard name?! However crap Rolling Stone may be at getting names right I highly doubt in this case the senior writer dealing with such a delicate subject, and the world exclusive would randomly invent an answer from who knows where . I just don't get why Billie would so definitely state something which sounded like such a positive thing towards his support & recovery when it wasn't true.

Umm...I am calm... o_O

Confuddled a bit perhaps...but Green Day leave me that way at the best of times...I think I'm just going to officially file this whole Rolling Stone interview under "my management made me do it" and be glad he is still alive and back to be honest.

I think you're over thinking this way, way too much. They could have been having a conversation and having coffee - "she doesn't even drink it, never has" - the interviewer checks the tape back and has forgotten that one little detail. You don't know how the interview was put together at all, no matter how much you assume. It's not a big deal at all.

Seriously?! Well you might expect that from a junior journalist at a crappy paper somewhere not Rolling Stone. Regardless of the situation if you can honestly believe that then Billie didn't actually answer the question posed to him by Rolling Stone despite the brief answer (not rambling) that was printed...it was all a misprint? Either way you then imply Rolling Stone are sloppy (beyond sloppy) chopping together actual interview segments/answers with random conversations about coffee?! So what can we assume then the question about what he would do when he feels the need to drink and he responded about hailing a cab and getting a root beer...that was actually confused...he said something entirely different but earlier on when talking about coffee and other likes and dislikes root beer was discussed and...well with all the chopping and editing it just landed in there. You get what I'm saying? If you are saying Its ok they just screwed around with random conversations and "made Billie tell lies/untruths" however unimportant it simply casts the whole article into question...or Billie looks a bit weird for saying it (which would be better honestly).

Oh and check this for how one sentence is being blown out of proportion...and its not even true.

... no, i'm not saying any of that at all. I'm saying, however skilled you are at your job, mistakes happen, people hear things wrong, people etc. It's not like it's even a big part of the interview! Also, earlier on in the interview it mentioned he was having lunch so yeah having coffee during the interview wasn't completely out of the question. I just think it's nitpicking - a small misheard or misprinted comment about coffee is not enough to upset the balance on the whole interview. And well, the media always takes one line and runs with it, there's no change there.

I don't get why you're trying to pick up flaws in what Billie's saying as though you're trying to trip him up, or something. Just take it as it is and leave it, seriously, there's bigger problems in the world.

Seriously...Adrienne contradicted him not me lol. I have no earthly clue why she chose to even draw attention to the issue...seems pointless...just brings attention to him. Regardless only thing I ever said was "huh that is odd, why would Billie do that?"...how is that trying to trip him up? Dude did that himself. I only want to see him back onstage OR back being healthy whatever it takes. And yeah thanks for reminding me there are bigger problems in the world than Billie Joe Armstrong giving an "inaccurate" answer to Rolling Stone about his family...at twenty eight years old I never would have guessed. This is (according to the topic title) the forum to discuss Billie in Rolling Stone however so I guess I can discuss world hunger, poverty, unemployment, illness, drought, famine, abandoned puppies, disease and One Direction elsewhere.

Seriously, there's no need to be such a jerk about it. As you've just pointed out, this is a forum. Prepare to be contradicted or have your point stamped on.

I'm out.

At the end of the day y'know it's not a big deal y'know David Frickle is a very respected writer and doesn't usually do the twisting words or cause controversy like other media writers do y'know either Billie was misheard or mistakingly misquoted but in the end it's not a big deal y'know
