~ Walking Contradiction Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 can't wait to have MAYBE the italian version of it in the next Rolling Stone ugh, I doubt it...I hate RS Italy. They're not going to publish the entire interview for sure...all they are able to do is publish old interviews and spell "BILLY" they will probably publish an article called "Hi, my name is Billie Joe and I'm an alcoholist" like they did with the online article :angry
Twisted By Design Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Man, I just wish the guy luck and really feel for him. It doesn't really matter what I or anything else thinks, but he deserves to have this clear up. They all put so much damn work into the band and of course their personal lives. I can only imagine. I'm only 20 years old and thank who ever the fuck everyday I can keep my shit together. No body has a way out. I just hope he knows as much as he hates to look back at his "drunken" or "high" performances that it's really okay. I feel no dissapointment. I've never lost faith in the band and will always respect them. Rock N' Roll is the devil and disguise and it's no surprise he takes it too far sometimes. Billies honest here and he has no obligation to explain. I feel like the bands a friend in need and I can't wait to be there as much as I'm able to show them I still care. I still have faith in Rock music and I owe them a sincere thank you for that. I've always had a blast at their shows even if things got a little out of hand. That's the honesty punk rock can't avoid. It's not about being pretty. It's about living your life out and sometimes it's ugly. Now it's time to put on !Uno¡ and start my day.
Mykee Mexx Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 That said, I'm a bit worried about the tour now. I really hope he is ready already. This has all happened so fast (even though the months have felt excruciating as an anxious fan). He has a fantastic support system though, so I hope that he doesn't ever feel too tempted to fall off the wagon. I see what you mean. The schedule seems tight and rough again. Honestly, I couldn´t do it. But, well, it´s his life, and I think he´s clever and grown-up enough to make his decisions. Whether they work or not. Same for the rest of the gang. BJ´s rehab has just begun, because now he has to face all the temptations. It´s all in the game.
joeysturkeyhead Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 I think this is the first time I realized that we the FANS will age too, and at some point there won't be any more teenagers (most of us) at Green Day shows anymore. And that's going to be cool and hilarious. Because we all "grew up" together. I always thought Green Day would age, but you never think about yourself aging Well, there will come new fans...

WestboundSign! Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 That said, I'm a bit worried about the tour now. I really hope he is ready already. This has all happened so fast (even though the months have felt excruciating as an anxious fan). He has a fantastic support system though, so I hope that he doesn't ever feel too tempted to fall off the wagon. I can totally see where you're coming from, I'm worried about the exact same thing. It surely seemed like a pretty long time for us fans, but for somebody trying to recover from an addiction that had been lasting for the past ~15 years, it happened pretty fast. You can't quit with something like this from one second to another, the journey has just begun. But I guess the first few months are definitely the worst, where you have to realize and get the fact that you have to stop in your head first. I hope - and am pretty sure - that he will make it, though. As you said, he has a fantastic support system and his family, friends and the band will surely be helping him the best they can.
stories and songs Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 I've been worried about the tour as well. I mean, he's still very new to being sober. And this WILL be a long tour, even though this is their idea of taking it easy, lol. But, we just need to try to have faith that he and the people around him will keep in on the right track. It won't be easy, but they can do it. I won't lie - part of my concern lies in the fact that when he was struggling, it was his manager and not a friend or family member to get him to seek help. I don't quite understand that whole bit, but that is simply because I don't know the situation. And I'm not trying to be judgmental; I realize it is very difficult to deal with someone you love struggling with such issues, and it can be hard to get through to them or even talk to them about it, because if its not what they want to hear, you risk them pushing you away to the point where you truly can't help them. I guess I just... I just hope that the people around him will be able to steer him in the right direction. They all love him, and I'm sure they'll do their best to take care of him. Even though its a rough schedule, I have confidence that they'll be supportive of him and will help him in whatever way he needs. He has a lot of really wonderful people surrounding him.
Vespertine Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 "Sometime later, as Armstrong relates in this interview, the two friends - who have been playing music together since they were 12 - unexpectedly ran into each other, over coffee, in Oakland. "Billie apologized to me from the bottom of his heart," Dirnt said. "It was two old friends on a park bench. I hope to be on park bench with him when I'm old, feeding fucking birds and having conversations"" That really made me tear up. Wow. I love this man more than ever.
spark in the night Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 damnit I've been to CVS and Walgreens today and can't find it. Guess I'll have to go to Barnes and Noble
Judges daughter 93 Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 I almost know this interview by heart...It's one of the most moving things I've ever read in my whole life. And my mum - she says that Wikipedia is lying - for her Billie Joe is 25 ( judging from the RS picture )
Slave To The Network Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 I know this was two pages ago, but I feel like saying that these are some very, very true and wise words. Awwww, thank you!

WhiteTim Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 I CAN'T FIND IT ANYWHERE. WHYYY? Is is possible that it's not available yet? JIGD13 Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 So, I read it on my school today, and it's so awesome I almost cried reading this, the moments with Mike and Tré, his sons and family. It's good to see Billie opening to his fans and telling us what happened
LisaBJA Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Was listening to Lazy Bones yesterday, and realised that everything he talked about struggling through in this interview is mentioned in the 1st couple of verses: Me too, I was listening it today
JIGD13 Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 I started listening the song from the trilogy so close since I read that interview
Michi1 Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Having finally gotten our issue in the mail today, it was the first thing I read through, and wow. The fact that BJA has been struggling with this and fighting against it since 1997 really opened my eyes, in a way. I thought back to the times I've seen Green Day live, and wondered whether or not he was severely affected then. The line about his backpack being so full of pills it sounded like a baby rattle really got me, too. I may come from a family that has struggled with a history of depression and anxiety, and there may be a lot of pills there, but it in no way compares to the demons that come with addiction. Bravo, Billie, for being open and honest, no matter how much it hurt to do so.
The brink of your vision Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Now I feel so shit for having that "One fucking minute?!" sticker... gosh.
HolyHandGrenade Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Another misleading story about the interview, this from NME. They make the headline about turning to prayer, then only mention it at the very start and not again after that. They also say that BJ was a "recovering alcoholic" before he went to rehab. I thought rehab was the first time he got clean for that. What's up? http://www.nme.com/news/green-day/68969
