Just finished reading it. It was an honest interview. It was good and powerful. He said a lot of stuff that we, in GDC, were talking about after the New York show and the iHeart meltdown. He was honest and there was guilt for everything he had done, which is good. I just can't wait to see them back on road and start pleasing the crowd again and do what they are best at !

And that part where he said how we met Mike in a coffee shop was like a happy reunion :D and Mike saying about how they picture them sitting on park benches and getting old and stuff just made me fill with joy. Their friendship is so deep and awesome. I wish I had a friend like that! Its just a wow feeling after getting done with the interview. We got to know a lot about the phase that he went through and I am so glad he made it out okay!

Welcome back Billie and Welcome back Green Day!

He mentioned that he wished that the last records were recorded live completely; "get a good tone and go". I'm assuming that he's referring to the Trilogy. They definitely wanted that vibe, but Rob's production was too clean and tight when the band was playing loose and with energy.

I also love the sound of the Trilogy, the tone and punchiness are great. But it seems too tight for the music that's being played.

Well the music was recorded live in studio there's are no overdubs to it one of the main reason why Jason was brought in only vocals were done seperately

But yeah I see why some folks don't like it it works perfect on some songs good on others and eh on the rest

Whenever and if they do any more albums it's going to be interesting to hear

I've read it now, and it's taking a while to process it all. All I can say right now is I'm glad Billie is recovering, and extremely glad it didn't get any further because we really really could have lost him. And that would be terrible.I just hope he doesn't take on too much with the upcoming tour and only does what he's comfortable with. The article was extremely eye opening.

In the midst of this for the most part serious interview, that made me laugh out loud.

That was a nice read. I feel like it didn't fully satisfy me. *shrugs* I don't know, there is just this feeling I can't shake.

"By the way, my favorite part was that hole thing about being in Green Day at 60 years old, and the Rolling Stones.... I´m very very happy that Billie is back, and now i love him more than ever <3"

I loved that part too Mara. I can picture them rocking out in their 60 and 70's even. It makes me all smiley & content.

btw, for this interview I think he was wearing those exact black pants with the hole in the knee that he's wearing in your signature...

Hahaha yeah, i can picture them too on that age, and yes i think are the same pants :D

The article included more than I ever expected to hear, and it was written really well. I'm happy that Billie was so straight-forward. I remember all the references to pills and alcohol in the songs, but I guess I just never really knew how much of a struggle it must have been for him. I respect him for being so honest about everything. Props to Mike and Tre and Adie and everyone around him for being so great and supportive. I wish the band luck and hope they have a blast out there on the road again!

I don't know if it was meant to be taken more seriously, but I found it cute when he said his dogs kept wondering how he was doing because they can sense this sort of thing. Props to Billie's dogs.

I like how he talked about him "being better than that" you are billie! You have a down to earth attitude that is rare among rockstars. which is why i hope people dont act stupid around him now. either like "oooo bro no booze for you!" or "OH MY POOR BAAAABY!" (i'm not sure which is worse). To me it's just like he's an old friend i havent seen in a while. You're back, i missed you, now rock my face off.

I can't wait for proper scans :P

I ain't reading 22 parts, my eyes would die. Apparently it's a really really good read though!

i liked how he listed the songs that apply to him or to his situation

Right? I loved that quote so much. And I loved how he said that he has a family and a band and that his addiction problems can't overshadow that. That's a great attitude to have. Because he ISN'T his addiction, and he is better than that. We all know he's better than that, and I'm glad he knows, too.

I cannot stay dissapointed at this man after reading this article. I had never realized how bad the situation had gotten. I knew by watching all the videos of them playing in 2012 that something was off, but I don't think anybody realized it was as bad as it had gotten. I am very proud of Billie, and extremely excited to be seeing them on this next tour. It is, I personally believe, the biggest milestone the band has reached yet. This was an amazing article, and although I remain slightly fearful of the future, I have the utmost hope in it as well. Congratulations, Billie Joe. I can vouch for everyone when I say welcome back, and we are all excited to see you in the next few weeks!

You know, this article definitely had an effect on me. I honestly never knew just how serious this all was until I read this. I'm glad Billie Joe opened up about all of this. I feel like I know him now better than ever. In fact, a few days ago I was contemplating why I loved Green Day so much. But then I read this, and I know this is why I love them so much. I am so incredibly proud of Billie now, especially after reading everything that happened.

Truth! Although it's been tough, I think this period should be remembered as one of the most pivotal and significant times in Green Day's career. Out of all the mayhem could have resulted a breakup, or worse, an overdose, but we got a rejuvenated Billie Joe, and a band that's coming back with a vengeance.

I want to thank Billie for being so honest and talking from the heart. The interview was what I wanted (but did not actually expect or even believe that I deserveto hear). I hope that all interviewers would respect Billie and the band and just leave it at that and not ask anymore about the subject.

In my mind Billie is my Superhero my Idol my Hero and it's so strange to read about him recalling himself in such a broken state and in a messed up cycle. It's scary i still fell super uneasy at this moment.

I love Billie as much as ever though as his shortfalls make him real, I too suffer from daily anxiety which often leads to insomnia and that makes me feel more connected to him in a way. His music has helped me tremendously and I wish him the best. I really hope the band can support him during the tour.. the small club gigs may be extremely hard with the amount of alcohol in the venue.

I am so buying this as soon as I can!

It's funny - I remember when I was younger and first getting into them, I'd make lists of all the things I loved about Green Day (I'm a big list person). Today, it would be so hard to make that kind of list. I feel like when you really, truly love someone or something, you can't plainly state why you love them. You just do, for this huge mass of reasons that have built up over time and can't even be distinguished anymore. You love them because they're them.

That said, I can tell you one thing I love about them. I Iove how in this interview, just like every other interview they do, I never feel like they're bullshitting us. They're real people; they're not "celebrities". They don't say things to be polite or politically correct. They don't sugar coat.

Question: Do we know what this "first interview" is that he talks about???

It was a two day interview, so I believe that the "first interview" is when they sat down for part one. I could be completely wrong, but that's what I gathered from it.

This is the day I have been waiting for since 5 months. :runaround:

AND LOOK HOW HAWT HE IS ON DAT COVER!!!!

Yeah, seriously. How the hell did he manage to remember all of the lyrics, the setlist, all of his guitar parts, all of his cues, and all that stuff if he was so fucked up?

muscle memory

Just finished reading. That interview is literally perfect. It touched on everything. He went into more detail than I thought he would. If this gets around in the news, it could really help the public perception of him after the iHeartRadio incident. I'M JUST SO GLAD HE'S BACK AND DOING WELL!!!!! ♥
