Hermione Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 from 1:47 to 4:16.I think I've never seen Billie in that....way...(Still one of my favourite Letterbomb performance )Honestly I can't see anything strange about that video. Billie's got drunk and rambled on passionately, and danced around lost in the music, and crowdsurfed, many times before. I don't think it's at all unusual behaviour from him at a smaller show. Not aimed at you, but I hope people aren't gonna constantly be going back to old videos and saying "look he wasn't right there", "look he was out of it there", cuz that's gonna be boring and annoying.
Lauren Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 from 1:47 to 4:16. I think I've never seen Billie in that....way... (Still one of my favourite Letterbomb performance ) oh come on. that's "scripted" stuff. I was there and I didn't notice anything out of place. he planned to say that. and he's said that stuff before.
DookieLukie Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 The article says that Billie first realized how much his habits were affecting him and his music after he heard the studio version of Nightlife. He admitted himself to rehab right after.
spark in the night Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 If I knew he was on the verge of going to rehab while taking a trip to Las Vegas... I wouldn't keep my eyes off of him! I'm eager to know what happened that night. Back in September, I was wondering why his friends and family let him get that bad before going on stage. It's really none of my business, but it seemed so strange to me. I've seen him drunk on stage before, but that was at small venues where every single person there was a hardcore fan, so it was more like a party than a show. I'm so afraid to start drinking. I know it's okay in moderation, but you never know when it can get out of control -- it happens to lots of people. You don't have to start. Ever It's your choice. I say "no" more than "yes" to alcohol. It's not worth it, in my opinion.
Clayish Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Y'all are gonna see the difference in BJA's voice once the tour comes around. I've never heard BJA sound so bad in the shows before the incident, but it's all good. This tour is gonna be very important for Billie, especially that first show. You wanna hear a good rant? It's gonna be at that first show.

His family/friends can see what he is drinking but pills can be very easily hidden from people as they are gone in a second.
spark in the night Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 I'm not going to read any scans. I've already seen a few quotes around twitter and tumblr and that's it for me. Waiting until I get the mag in my hands.

I just don't now how well I can control myself, because I've never been in that situation. and I hear once you start, it's hard to stop. The people who take it out of line can't go back to having it "in moderation", they have to get rid of it completely.

stories and songs Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Billie is definitely handling his "comeback" in the best way possible. I'm glad he's talking to Rolling Stone and that's it - I mean really, how much does one have to talk about something like this? I knew it must've been pretty serious, but even so, this is so difficult to read about. I can't even imagine how difficult it is for him to talk about this, and he shouldn't have to relive it all through the media more than once. This has been a really scary, difficult time in Green Day world. Someone else said it earlier, and it was so true - my heart feels weird. It is so wonderful to see his face again, to know that he's alright, to hear that he never intends to drink again (I can't even describe how happy that made me). But its tough. Because even though I've never had illusions that he was perfect by any means, even though I love the guy BECAUSE he's normal and has issues just like the rest of us... as a fan, you never expect something like this to happen to your favorite band. You just don't. Anyway, it is amazing to have him back. I'm glad he's talking about everything, as hard as it is to read about. I'm very, very proud of him and the fact that he has taken this seriously and gotten through it. He is someone I hold very close to my heart, and having gone through some struggles of my own as of late, it is incredible to have him back. As for his manager being the one to tell him to go to rehab - honestly, I think it is quite a lot to expect an addict to recognize their problem and choose to go to rehab on their own. When they're the ones living it, they don't see the problem, and that IS the problem. They don't know they're addicted. I think the important thing is that he agreed to get help. Even though he wasn't the one who came up with the idea, a person can't get better unless they accept their problem and want to change for the better.

This. The same thing happened when it was announced he was first going into rehab, people were pulling up every little song lyric that mentioned drugs or alcohol and trying to use it as some kind of ~sign~ that he had a problem.

Sure, he was drunk, but it wasn't any worse than Foxboro Hot Tubs. and he likes to get crazy for small shows. iHeart was way, way, WAY worse.

TheJedi Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 oh come on. that's "scripted" stuff. I was there and I didn't notice anything out of place. he planned to say that. and he's said that stuff before. everything Billie does on stage isn't "scripted" and we are talking about how he's looking wasted and how he's jumping around and stuff too.
heather Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Apart from how glad I am that Billie is doing better now, I also think of all the shit that Adrienne must have had to deal with for years. I've always thought she was an amazing and strong woman (my crush on her is sometimes bigger than my crush on Billie!) and to think of how she has obviously supported and stood by him, and has held their family together through some really dark and hard times........she's just completely amazing. She deserves all our respect, really.

He was a little off at Irving, not that bad though, but he was off. iHeart is easily the worst performance the band has ever done, and to hear that BJA was blackout the whole time explains everything

The people who take it out of line can't go back to having it "in moderation", they have to get rid of it completely. Do you mean once you start alcoholism, it's hard to stop? Or once you first drink alcohol it's hard to stop? I guess it's easy for me to stop. I don't drink to get drunk. I don't like being drunk, I don't like feeling drunk. But I only know that because I've experienced it. So I guess I would say, it's okay to try it, but not be scared that you can't stop. It's not like you will instantly become addicted on your first drink. You'll more than likely think it's gross. I still can't drink beer, I think it tastes horrible. Hard liquor is what makes you wasted quickly. It's also hard to swallow, because it burns like fuck. Those sensations put me off alcohol. I guess those who become addicted are those who enjoy the burn, or who have convinced themselves that drunkenness solves their problems.

Obviously we are all entitled to our own opinions and we all see things differently...I've been a fan for yonks & I found that moment off...the bouncing in a circle like he was more anxious than enjoying himself/just drunk & high (which he obviously was too). Now that he told RS that his manager wanted him to go to rehab a week before Vegas (and Irving Plaza show was the 15th) one can assume (and bet their asses) he was more than a little high at that show...so it is no suprise some find this video a little out of character... his rant made less sense than the Justin Beiber one.

djrossstar Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 He sounded fine at Echoplex & Tiki Bar to me. Guess I got lucky with my shows.
