Virtuous Xman Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 Worst song by them...on the wagon. Never had a bad album to me...just I like one album more than the other. But I always listen to all of them.
HolyHandGrenade Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 Any album from Kerplunk to Shenanigans > AI Where do 21CB and the trilogy fit in?
DannyDirnt Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 Where do 21CB and the trilogy fit in? To me, ¡Dos! and ¡Tré! are superior to AI, but ¡Uno!'s not. The trilogy as a whole is better imo. 21st CB is slightly better, but still pretty average to me.

HolyHandGrenade Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 What's your ranking then? 2 lists, in descending order: Subjective (favorites) - AI, Nimrod, Tre, Warning, 21CB, Uno, Insomniac, Dos, Dookie, Kerplunk, 39/Smooth Objective (quality of lyrics, originality, etc...) - AI, Warning, 21CB, Dookie, Tre, Insomniac, Dos, Nimrod, Uno, Kerplunk, 39/Smooth
InvaderPhantom Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 How anyone could choose Dos and Tré over American Idiot is beyond me O_O Oh well everyone has their opinion I guess.
BazingaofSuburbia Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 I like 21 Guns a lot Mainly because it was the song that got me into Green Day so it has a really special place in my heart(cheesy line I know but it's true ) I also like the lyrics because of how relatable they are to me & I'm not even going to try hide the fact that I played the song to the death when it first came out, it was the first proper song I was obsessed with I'm also going to go ahead and say BOBD is another song that has special place in my heart too cause that was the first GD song I ever heard so I like it just as much as 21 Guns cause of the whole nostalgic feels. Not sure how unpopular that opinion is but I'm adding it anyways

Andrew Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 Same with me Just because of 21 Guns, 21st Century Breakdown has a special place in my heart too Btw is loving 21st Cenuty Breakdown an unpopular Opinion? It's a popular unpopular opinion, and an unpopular popular opinion. Hope that helps.

I'm the same it has a special place for me too cause of 21 Guns & cause it was the first album of theirs that I bought :'D besides from that I do generally really like the album, Peacemaker, American Eulogy, EJN, 21CB etc make my mouth water just thinking about them...not sure how much that answers your question
Sarasaurus Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 I'm not a huge fan of Green Day's older music. Anything from AI onward is my favourite; and I only like a select few songs from before AI.

We have so much similarities, we should marrie and have 10 kids. Just Kidding Haha no it doesn't answer my question but that doesn't matter. At least I've found someone who loves 21st Century Breakdown for the same reasons I do

I think the middle section ("class of '13") is one of the best parts of any GD song ever

I've found someone who likes 21CB too I bought that album and was oblivious to know that was basically me opening the door to Narnia xD

SumDay Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 I think the middle section ("class of '13") is one of the best parts of any GD song ever I see, there are a lot of people who see the epic things behind the 21st Century Breakdown songs. I'm down with that sorry it didn't answer your question it was the best I got but yes! I've found someone who likes 21CB too I bought that album and was oblivious to know that was basically me opening the door to Narnia xD Haha don't worry, Andrewww already gave me a good answer Yeha, 21st Century Breakdown was mine gateway drug too
Andrew Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 ¡Dos! > AI???? That's a fucking disgrace Dude, it's the unpopular opinion thread, and he's entitled to his views. While I disagree with Danny, I'd like to congratulate him in having probably the most unpopular opinion ever!
Hermione Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 ¡Dos! > AI???? That's a fucking disgrace Haha! I'm a disgrace too then
jacknovella Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 As much as I enjoy Nightlife, I think it would have been a hell of a lot better without Lady Cobra. Like the snippet in CSI, where it's just the bass and Billie? *jizz* Obviously Billie's vocals would have to be fleshed out a bit maybe, but just...ahhh...DAT BASS.
Heather. Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 It's not so much that I don't like Nimrod, it's that I don't *understand* it as an album People talk about wanting a "Nimrod sound" on the next album, or that something "sounds like Nimrod," and it always leaves me completely dumbfounded. I hear absolutely nothing unique about Nimrod, mostly because it is such a varied potpourri of sounds, which is a very cool thing, that it doesn't have any one defining characteristic to it. I hear the Dookie sound in it (NGFL), the Insomniac sound (Platypus, Grouch), the Warning sound (Walking Alone, Worry Rock), and the experimental but so dissimilar sounds (Good Riddance, Hitchin a Ride, King for a Day), that I'm at a complete loss as to what the hell people are talking about when they say they like "the Nimrod sound." I think it's a reductive and vague thing to say. Scattered is my favorite song off the album, but I don't consider it Nimrod-y, I consider it a cross between Dookie and Warning, albums that make sense to me as sonic units. And that is why I never really "understood" Nimrod From any other band I would love it (there are so many great songs), but from Green Day, it's the only album that I feel does not unite along any soundwaves. Tre is kind of random like Nimrod too, but it has fewer filler and more epic songs, so I forgave it immediately for making no sense That and Nimrod is just too long I deleted Last Ride In and Take Back from my iTunes long ago.

Honestly, how the hell can you delete certain songs from an album on iTunes? It's like taking a full cake and throwing one piece away. It's not complete. You honestly could just simply skip the track. I could never do this myself because I feel like I'm missing part of the actual album. But that's just me.

I normally don't, but I actually hate Take Back. And Haushinka. Like, the only Green Day songs that sound like pure painful noise to me And I managed to like Christian's Inferno, so that's saying something. I wish I could listen to them but they're literally just screeching to my ears. And Nimrod is the only album I don't listen to straight through, ever. Maybe it's revisionist history, it's something I don't usually do, but I had to do it for my own sanity. I'd still love for some clarification on the album as a whole though. And "Haushinka and Take Back ARE the Nimrod sound" would actually be a helpful answer to me!

Just a fast punk song you can mosh to and go crazy. I honestly don't see why most people don't like it. xD
