Unpopular Green Day Opinions

For me, it's the lyrics! They're not that strong, but I can relate so much :D

Such as " I'm too tired to be bored, I'm too bored to be tired " & " Everyone keeps talking & they can't shut the fuck up! "

Maybe they are relatable, but Billie Joe is capable of writing much better lyrics that are still relatable.

I agree. I mentioned that they are not that strong. He can & has written much stronger lyrics than that which are so damn relatable.

I was just pointing out that the reason why so many people love that song could be that :)

I think the lyrics are fine except for the line "Funny people seem so serious". XD Makes me cringe.

I think Billie Joe looks like a turtle.. Sometimes a rabbit! :D:bunny:

Don't you think?!

Homecoming kicks Jesus of Suburbia's ass.

The 39/smooth and Kerplunk solos piss all over the generally dull trilogy ones.

I honestly think the band should try to write a new wave album as Green Day rather than the Network; it really suits them.

Jackass is lyrical genius.

Walking Contradiction's music video is one of the best music videos they've ever done in my opinion. And the song itself is the best on Insomniac :D

Lazy Bones is one of the weakest songs of the trilogy in my opinion. I think it's overrated, what's so special about it? I think both the music and the moaning lyrics of the song is pretty bad. It's hard to listen to the whole song, and I just can't understand why so many people actually think it's that great. Although many people would wonder why I think it's weak. Haha, thank god for opinions. But it's just the lyrics man, together with the music, for me it doesn't work. It doesn't fit on Dos, at least not that early on the record.

Sometimes I love the backing vocals by Mike more than the actual vocals. I love Mike's part in American Eulogy.

I do wish Mike was utilized quite a bit more, he has some fantastic pipes and is usually pitch perfect live, even more so than BJ on occasion! His one line in a trilogy song (I can't recall which atm) was fantastic!

Sex, drugs and violence.

'I dont wannabe an imbecile, but Jesus made me that way'

YES! That made the song for me. I was so crushed on the inside when that was the only bit he had. He really needs to be used more, I don't think BJ realizes how rare it is to have such a talented back up singer. I've seen tons of great groups, BIG groups, have horrible back up singers.

I agree to that. They need to use Mike more in backing vocals. Stay the Night is one of my favorites in backing vocals, I love what Mike did there.

Powerful stuff in that one. I was a bit put off when a lot of Uno was BJ doing primary and a lot of secondary vocals.

Definitely on the Mike bandwagon. I hate the way they've been mixing his backing vocals on the last 4 records. When you split the tracks, you clearly hear his voice in the dubs. But when you hear the normal mix, his voice is compressed to the point where you're only hearing the note he's singing, and as a result his voice blends with Billies completely (along with the songs that Billie does his own backing vocals).

Damn straight!

It's lucky that "official" and "unofficial" are just terms made up by fans and that there's zero evidence to suggest Jason or the band could care less what he's labeled as then!

Well, there's the first two paragraphs on the left side of this link, but I don't know how much that proves. XD

Let's not get into this here, there's an overly active thread for this XD But no, that link doesn't actually specify official or not, as BJ makes a quote of himself saying "let's bring him in, he can be the fourth member", in a manner that sounds almost hypothetical. I'm not his close friend so I can't tell you what he ACTUALLY meant, but that's what I gleaned from it. No one has labeled Jason as official yet, no one, so I prefer to look at him as the "official unofficial fourth member", coined by No Rhyme Or Reason on the actual thread.

Totally agree on the Mike stuff. He has an amazing voice and completely complements Billie's, I do wish his vocals are used more in songs.

I don't like DRB all that much either, it's a great song but comparing it to JoS was a really bad move, most fans expected a lot more.

Yeah, I agree. It would've been awesome if there was more Mike vocals in the trilogy songs. Especially the backing vocals, I think it's a shame that pretty much all of it is Billie, at least on Uno, as far as I can hear.

DRB and JoS are alike in length and nothing else. Jesus has this long and compelling story through it with powerful lyrics and intense melodies. Dirty Rotten Bastards is a good song, but different in every way. It doesn't flow like JoS or Homecoming, and it really lacks the hit for me as well. Granted, it took me a few years to really wrap my head around the lyrical content of Jesus and homecoming.

I never skip Know Your Enemy, it's just too catchy to skip. Also it's no more repetitive than some of the newer songs.

Totally agreeing in those Mike things also. Green Day seems to have been wasting Mike's talent since 21st Century Breakdown, other than his solo parts in American Eulogy and Sex, Drugs & Violence.

Plus if you skipped it you'd miss out on the fun of singing "raw ham". I don't mind if they keep playing it live for the same reason, my sister and I crack up singing that in the crowd

Sometimes I like Billie's YEAH & laugh in Oh Love & Troublemaker more than the other parts

And also those noises in Fuck Time!

I don't know how unpopular that opinion is, but I really don't like the video of JoS.
I mean, I don't have a problem with it and I wouldn't really change anything, but I never even watched the whole video, it's a kind of a stupid point I made.

I'm not sure there's something specific that I don't like in that video, but I guess I just love that song too much and my expectations for the video are that high that I couldn't really imagine a video that would do it justice.

That's why I don't really care for videos, I mean there are a lot videos that I do like, but I think it's much more interesting and fun to think of your own associations and imagine things for youself while listening to songs :P

So I'm not the only one who makes music videos while listening to songs! :ninja::P Thanks buddy!
