Nope. Pretty sure the only ones we can even kinda be sure about are Too Much Too Soon and maybe Walk Away. Everything else is a big fat unknown.

Yeah thanks for confirming, that's what I thought too

I actually really like "Christian's Inferno", and LOTAG/Murder City are actually my least favorite tracks on 21CB (the production just barely saves KYE from its lyrics). Come at me.

Sorry Ceadog, you're wrong. Shoplifter was part of the C&V sessions. Hence, it was considered a "kind of" digital single for C&V, this is its cover.

where did you get that info though? That it's from C&V and not just a b-side to AI, I mean. I don't recall reading, hearing or seeing that anywhere. Let alone that it'd be a digital single for a non released album.

Isn't it interesting that they supposedly recorded it before any plans for American Idiot were in place, yet the artwork is exactly the same?

Ah shit my posts didn't merge.

Jesus! What are the odds for someone posting at the same time as me twice in a row? Damn mobile.

Apologies. :P

the dookiefied version of Kill the Dj reminds me of Rancids style.

I think that they (especially vocally) are going to be (surprisingly?) awesome at these Aussie shows.

I hope so. BJA has failed to impress me vocally the last few years. Performance of Dookie songs was a let down because to me it made it so obvious there's not as much testosterone and anger as there was back then. But that's life. I also think he's out of pitch too often.

He is going to play 3 hour sets at 5 locations in just over a week - you got cut him some slack there - that's bloody hard work.

It's a perfect story, honestly. You tell the public that you made an album with the classic Green Day sound, but you lost the tapes. Then you introduce this new album with a new sound that was born of the wreckage so to speak. If AI sucked, you could say "Well we had this other album. Too bad it got lost." If AI was successful, which it was, you look like geniuses who pulled out of a bad situation to make something even better. And now Cigarettes and Valentines has because legend among the fan base. Perfect story.

Except every time they told the story they made it pretty obvious they were at least partially exaggerating/bullshitting. Not sure why C&V has achieved such legendary status really when the band have made it extremely clear that they considered it mediocre, not up to standard work.

I agree and I'd say that won't be surprising! I've only actually seen about 2 or 3 people complain about his voice, and most other complaints are either from people who saw them months before and had no complaints then or people who haven't even seen them, and are just theorizing about him being worse because of being drunk or sober. They were awesome both when I saw them last year (after rehab) and the year before (just before rehab) and there was nothing wrong with Billie's voice. They're awesome live and will continue to be!

I consider Stay the night, 21st Century Breakdown and Before The Lobotomy some of their best work

Not very unpopular, though I'm in the minority in disliking Stay the Night.

I feel this way about Worry Rock, The Grouch and Walking Alone

Green Day are awesome live but sometimes I feel it gets too much with the ooohhh ohhhh crowd interaction thing and the dragged out stuff that goes on. They should just play like they did in Jaded in Chicago. It's too much of a circus these days. I want stripped down punk. I rather have 1,5 hours of music than 3 hours of bullshit.

As much as I love the spectacle, I have to agree with this. At Brixton they dragged the first seven songs out unnecessarily, and it started to get annoying. I get that they want to put a big show on, which is great, but there are less irritating ways to do it than taking 10 minutes to play a 4 minute song. It really kills the impact of songs like Letterbomb and just makes them a chore. It's awesome that they play 30 songs a show, but they could do it in an hour and a half. I'm glad the shows are as long as they are but I'd prefer it if they used the time to play more rarities and the like.

No I want the 3 hours of bullshit  - I am going to scream hey ho all night long - the longer GD stay on stage the better for me. I could do without king for a day though ;)

That's why I would've loved to attend one of their smaller shows. I think the band is more in its right element there. I never saw them live during their Dookie/Insomniac days but watching on Youtube I realize those were some really awesome and energetic shows. I did see them on their Nimrod tour and that's where the distraction stuff started with King for a day etc then it sort of went down hill from there. Now there's all sorts of stuff going on on stage that's a pain. Hey ho's, stopping in the middle of songs, bringing fans upp to play, boring medleys...they don't need that shit. Their music is good enough. I think they do it to please the part of the mainstream crowd. I think for us who truly appreciate the music that's all we want and need.

Well I truly appreciate their music but unfortunately have not been in a position to see them in a small venue - billie did say he wanted to do intimate shows here - but I doubt this will happen for many many years - but when they are headlining a festival it is more of a show - they need to entertain everyone. You cant compare small to large venues.

what do you mean by boring medleys exactly?

Medleys, series of short covers, call it what you want.

I think he was taking issue with "boring" rather than "medleys" really. They certainly have their place, I think.

It's been said a thousand times, but I'll remind everyone again, we are in the MINORITY here on GDC. Casual fans eat up every second of BJA rolling around on the ground and shooting toilet paper or whatever the fuck else he does. What he does is what separates Green Day from the rest. There are plenty of great bands who just sit there and sing and act as if the crowd isn't even there (Oasis, Nirvana) and I don't believe its a coincidence that Green Day is so heavily praised by critics for the same practices people here complain about.

I get a certain kick out of observing my friends/family listening to live GD songs that I play around the house. With all of the f bombs and yelling and explosions (AAF) my brother thinks its the craziest/most fantastic show on earth. And it really is, especially if you're a casual fan. Would love to know what he's imagining when BIAB king for a day comes on :P

Dam I feel like a casual fan :(

All I ask is no covers and no breaks letterbomb please :). Oh and Deadbeat Holiday just once
