munns6691 Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 I think you posted that just to get likes, because none of that's realistic at all (except Razorbacks) To be fair I'm on mobile and can't see/ didn't know there were likes. Im actually just selfish and want some of my favorites played live
DookieLukie Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 I never once bought the bullshit story that they had their album stolen prior to AI. The truth is more likely that the album sucked and that BJA realized he wanted to do a rock opera instead, but stolen? Not fucking likely. And I dont understand the weak ass guitars on the trilogy. A song like 99 rev is written just like their previous typical rock songs so why suddenly turn off the distortion. It really annoys me. The songs feel incomplete. It's a perfect story, honestly. You tell the public that you made an album with the classic Green Day sound, but you lost the tapes. Then you introduce this new album with a new sound that was born of the wreckage so to speak. If AI sucked, you could say "Well we had this other album. Too bad it got lost." If AI was successful, which it was, you look like geniuses who pulled out of a bad situation to make something even better. And now Cigarettes and Valentines has because legend among the fan base. Perfect story.
JOE THE X-KID Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 I'm going to get executed for this but the guitar tone of the trilogy is my favourite guitar tone they've used. Next to Insomniacs
munns6691 Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Oh Love is underrated. Not great but not nearly as bad as people make it out to be. It's much better than Brain Stew
robinlovesbillie Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Guys, what do you think of my playlist that I have in my phone's mp3 player containing excerpts from Uno, Dos and Tré? I've only included in the playlist of songs that I think the best also taking a cue from the fan site Green Day Authority. Here's my playlist: 1. Nuclear Family 2. Stay The Night 3. Let Yourself Go 4. Kill The DJ 5. Troublemaker 6. Oh Love 7. Fuck Time 8. Stop When The Red Lights Flash 9. Lazy Bones 10. Stray Heart 11. Amy 12. Brutal Love 13. Missing You 14. 8th Avenue Serenade 15. Drama Queen 16. X-Kid 17. Dirty Rotten Bastards 18. 99 Revolutions 19. The Forgotten With the exception of 11 and 19......I'm with ya!
klytaemnestra Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Pretty sure I post that at every opportunity Although I've taken to singing "Severus SNAPES and I get myself ALLWOUNDUP." co-opting this for my own use.
Guest Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Just imagine the Trilogy guitars sounded like this tho
Spoopy Doo Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 I'd rank it higher if I could understand what in the blue fuck Billie was saying. Do you have a physical copy of the album? The lyrics are on the other side of the cover art.
Z J Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 On the topic of C&V...I like the song, but I am so glad those tapes were lost. Not just because we ended up with AI, but also because if C&V was really touted as the best song on the album, then the whole album probably would have been far inferior to pretty much anything they'd done to that point.

Anaïs. Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 If "Stop Drop and Roll" had been released as a Green Day album, I would consider it to be one of Green Day's best albums ever. Right beneath the hallowed top slots occupied by American Idiot and Dookie. I'd actually rank it above Dookie, but below AI, Warning, Nimrod, Insomniac and 21CB.
Insomniac1984 Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Too Much Too Soon tho And shoplifter. Both songs are kind of "meh" but Shoplifter is better.
Z J Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 I haven't given Stop Drop and Roll a good enough listen to, compared to how often I've heard the other albums, but there are some great melodies and its a little something different for Green Day. I don't think it could surpass AI/21CB/Insomniac for me ever, though. That group seems impenetrable.

Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 And shoplifter. Both songs are kind of "meh" but Shoplifter is better. Was Shoplifter from C&V?
Guest Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Was Shoplifter from C&V? Nope. Pretty sure the only ones we can even kinda be sure about are Too Much Too Soon and maybe Walk Away. Everything else is a big fat unknown.
Mar Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 I totally understand why Shoplifter wasn't on the main AI album because it doesn't really fit the narrative (its theme would warrant, maybe, a single line in She's A Rebel ), but it's a shame that it is only a bonus track, because I just love it. Is it Green Day's most complex musically or lyrically? Hell, no. But it's one of those that just makes me smile the second it begins, and I really love Billie's inflection on the chorus. It does totally seem like something that would have come from the post-Warning, pre-AI era.
The Disappearing Boy Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Just imagine the Trilogy guitars sounded like this tho http://www.youtube.c Yep. They'd be crap songs that sounded good!
Guest Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Yep. They'd be crap songs that sounded good! Exactly! But at least we'd have about 5 really good songs
The Disappearing Boy Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Exactly! But at least we'd have about 5 really good songs True. Though thinking about it, we could just listen to Dookified!
Spike Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 That version of Nightlife is more like Offspringfied than Dookiefied
The Disappearing Boy Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 That version of Nightlife is more like Offspringfied than Dookiefied I don't know to be honest. But I know it is so much better than the original. You know what? I might just rip the audio off that video and put it on my ipod instead of the original ...
DookieLukie Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 I really really don't like the Dookiefied guy's voice...
Insomniac1984 Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Sorry Ceadog, you're wrong. Shoplifter was part of the C&V sessions. Hence, it was considered a "kind of" digital single for C&V, this is its cover.
billiesboy Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 The Dookoefied versions are awesome. Thank's for sharing! I'm convinced the Trilogy would be a major hit if it sounded something along the line of that.
