Anaïs. Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Babs' Uvula Who is literally my favourite Green Day song. I'd rank it higher if I could understand what in the blue fuck Billie was saying.
Z J Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Babs' Uvula Who is literally my favourite Green Day song. I really like the song, the lyrics are so creatively crammed in there, if that makes sense. Great song to rock out to haha but I've never really seen it as a song that was better than Stuart and The Ave or Walking Contradiction. Edit: And yes I agree with Darth Praxus, it does sound like a bunch of weird noises.
HolyHandGrenade Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 I'd rank it higher if I could understand what in the blue fuck Billie was saying. I just read over the lyrics multiple times... now I get most (not all - ever ) of it from memory
Spike Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 I'd rank it higher if I could understand what in the blue fuck Billie was saying. That's all part of the fun! The lyrics are great if you know them, but it's a great song to just babble along to due to the mood of it. I find it really cathartic. "Mah temper SNERHPS anna getmuhself ALLWOUNDUP." Honestly, what's not to love?

I can't stop hearing "SNERHPS" ever since you posted that in this thread several dozen pages back, BTW.
Spike Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 I can't stop hearing "SNERHPS" ever since you posted that in this thread several dozen pages back, BTW. Pretty sure I post that at every opportunity Although I've taken to singing "Severus SNAPES and I get myself ALLWOUNDUP."

Z J Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 seriously...straight to the fucking hall of fame. I mean it has everything, great vocal, saxophone, bass, WALL OF FLAMES.
Spike Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 seriously...straight to the fucking hall of fame. I mean it has everything, great vocal, saxophone, bass, WALL OF FLAMES. Furthermore, that jam afterwards contains the greatest bassline ever.
Anaïs. Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 seriously...straight to the fucking hall of fame. I mean it has everything, great vocal, saxophone, bass, WALL OF FLAMES. I would sacrifice an infant child to get that intro on the CD. Okay, maybe I wouldn't go quite that far.
Spike Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 One thing I do hate about BIAB is the blatantly obvious editing out of Jaded. I might not like the song but I'd rather it was there in favour of such a crappy edit.
Todd Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 They didn't do Jaded at Brixton, Reading or Leeds last summer And thank fuck for that. Well yeah, 3 shows. They only dropped it to make room for Dookie. But other than that, it's in their top 10 most played of all time
Spike Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Well yeah, 3 shows. They only dropped it to make room for Dookie. But other than that, it's in their top 10 most played of all time I know, and that makes me sad.
Insomniac1984 Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 seriously...straight to the fucking hall of fame. I mean it has everything, great vocal, saxophone, bass, WALL OF FLAMES. But..... WHERE THE FUCK IS JADED???!!! No Jaded after Brain Stew is like when you have sex, you're on the climax and suddenly you cum without an orgasm!!! By the way (Talking about Insomniac era), this album has the best videos: Geek Stink Breath, Stuck with me, Walking contradiction and Brain stew/Jaded!! Who cares AI/21stCB videos??? Insomniac's ones are the epic win on GD Videos (And of course, others like NGFL, Basket Case, Longview, Minority and Waiting)
Anaïs. Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 But..... WHERE THE FUCK IS JADED???!!! No Jaded after Brain Stew is like when you have sex, you're on the climax and suddenly you cum without an orgasm!!! You're in trouble for your formatting , but I couldn't have said it better.
Insomniac1984 Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 NotAnyone: Ok, I forgot the rule about quoting without videos. Sorry, my bad. Topic: The "remastered" versions of 1039 and Kerplunk are a joke. Just making them sound louder don't mean they are really remastered (I expected sth like 2000LYA Jerky Boys Mix)
Mar Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 brain stew and jaded are the worst songs on insomniac by far Without a doubt. I never understood why it has such longevity on radio around me because it's grating to listen to.

Insomniac1984 Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Not much they can do according to the band the master tapes are nearly destroyed So, I assume Jerry Finn made a miracle remastering 2000 LYA??? I suppose.
WhiteTim Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 So, I assume Jerry Finn made a miracle remastering 2000 LYA??? I suppose. That was back then but the remasters that came out when they were re released by GD didnt they?
Insomniac1984 Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Well I know Jerry Finn made that remastering for 2000LYA in 1995. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q2StuAURxcg On the hand the lookout era records were remastered first in 2004, and then in 2007 (In Reprise Rec) . At last 1039 gave us somenthing more on its reissue.
WhiteTim Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 I'm actually surprised they didnt convert them to digital years ago as most labels started coverting the masters of old stuff in the early 00's
billiesboy Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 I never once bought the bullshit story that they had their album stolen prior to AI. The truth is more likely that the album sucked and that BJA realized he wanted to do a rock opera instead, but stolen? Not fucking likely. And I dont understand the weak ass guitars on the trilogy. A song like 99 rev is written just like their previous typical rock songs so why suddenly turn off the distortion. It really annoys me. The songs feel incomplete.
WhiteTim Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 They wanted to try a clean tone this go around unfortunately it didnt work well with alot of the songs
Hermione Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 But..... WHERE THE FUCK IS JADED???!!! No Jaded after Brain Stew is like when you have sex, you're on the climax and suddenly you cum without an orgasm!!! Hahaha I agree. And the same effect when they stop Hitchin A Ride just before the climax and switch to Welcome To Paradise. I never once bought the bullshit story that they had their album stolen prior to AI. The truth is more likely that the album sucked and that BJA realized he wanted to do a rock opera instead, but stolen? Not fucking likely. I think they've always made it obvious that it's kind of a nudge nudge wink wink thing with that story though. Whatever happened or didn't happen there's no chance every trace of the album was gone, I think in interviews they always give the clear impression that realizing they weren't satisfied was the songs and wanting to do something more ambitious (be "maximum Green Day" as they put it) was the main reason for starting again.
