Todd Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Prosthetic Head is a fucking damn great song. It's a shame it was only played live for two years
Z J Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 He never said it had to be a good one. You don't like the key change in Static Age?? You think you know a person...
Todd Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 You don't like the key change in Static Age?? You think you know a person... It's not the best. It's getting somewhere, better than nothing, but not the best
Spike Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 You don't like the key change in Static Age?? You think you know a person... I love the key change itself, but the last chorus in the higher key seems really weird, it's almost as if they just took it at the lower key and digitally shifted it up. It's infinitely better live, especially with the saxophone solo.
HolyHandGrenade Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Prosthetic Head is a fucking damn great song. It's a shame it was only played live for two years That's just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to songs that have been dropped. Where's Castaway? Jaded? St. Jimmy is great, but I miss it... Then we have 21st Century Breakdown and Murder City, which were abandoned in favor of KYE to be the ONLY representative for that album (I'm glad 21 Guns is gone). Going back further, we have Scattered, Stuart and the Ave., and most of Kerplunk + 1039. I really hope they experiment some more in Australia, because, Angel Blue, Dirty Rotten Bastards, and Lazy Bones deserve to be played.

They played Angel Blue at that show they did for that company thing, so that may happen. But that's the tip top of that iceberg. I want Worry Rock, Deadbeat Holiday, Church on Sunday, The Grouch(without forgetting the lyrics), Misery, Suffocate, Android, One For The Razorbacks, No Pride, All The Time, Macy's Day Parade, Jackass and Jinx. Oh and Dreamcatcher.

Oh and Dreamcatcher. And Cigarettes and Valentines. And American Idiot B-Sides... I would have listed every single song they haven't played in the last 3 years or so, (many of your songs would've been next pick), but that'd take a while

I agree with all of that except your negative opinion of "21 Guns". I'd much rather see that than BOBD, assuming Billie's voice is in good enough shape to sing it. I doubt they'll ever do "Lazy Bones" (which is pretty average for GD anyway); too painful for BJA.

Spike Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 alright where are we noting the key change, so that we are on the same page On "millennium" where it shifts from B to C, then the shift up to D that takes place across the four bars before the last verse. The first transition is good, and I love the second one, I just don't like where it ends up.

I feel like it's just derivative of many songs I've heard before (beyond Green Day), I can't describe it, it just feels generic. Besides that, even on an acoustic encore, there are so many others I'd want. Minority, Deadbeat Holiday, Shoplifter, or even Amy. I agree with Lazy Bones, but musically his personal songs are some of the best he's ever written (Lazy Bones, Suffocate, 27th Ave Shuffle, Restless Heart Syndrome, etc...)

Yes, but this one he specifically said he still tears up just thinking about. So I don't think it'll be on the setlist for a long while at least.

Scattered hasn't really been dropped, they whip it out as often as they do Only of You or Coming Clean. St. Jimmy is at every fucking show, and Jaded has been played every show since 1995. Murder City was played during this tour too a bit, it'll probably come back. Stuart and the Ave was never played, so I don't know where you got that from. 2000 LYA is played all the time, and so is Pasalacqua. It was nice of them to play Disappearing Boy a few times this tour. Angel Blue, Dirty Rotten Bastards, and Lazy Bones I canlive without. Spike Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Jaded has been played every show since 1995. They didn't do Jaded at Brixton, Reading or Leeds last summer And thank fuck for that.

I talked about St. Jimmy because it essentially replaced Jaded, which has been dropped in favor of the former for the majority of the past decade. Dropped - as in, dropped as a set list regular. In this respect Stuart was "dropped" the day the album came out. 200LYA, Pasalacqua, and DB are only 3 songs. I'm pretty sure those don't make a majority regarding the amount of songs from those two albums. I guess my post was more with respect to the set lists in general, rather than specifically songs that have been regulars in the past
Anaïs. Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 They didn't do Jaded at Brixton, Reading or Leeds last summer And thank fuck for that. HEY.
Spike Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 HEY. Ooh, did I just bust out a legit unpopular opinion? It's the 2nd worst song on Insomniac and pretty boring.
HolyHandGrenade Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Ooh, did I just bust out a legit unpopular opinion? It's the 2nd worst song on Insomniac and pretty boring. Tangent off of that: Brain Stew is boring and I rarely listen to it.
Anaïs. Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Ooh, did I just bust out a legit unpopular opinion? It's the 2nd worst song on Insomniac and pretty boring. I'm not actually mad, don't worry. Second worst? Really? It's my favorite on the whole thing.
Spike Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Tangent off of that: Brain Stew is boring and I rarely listen to it. It's brilliant live, though. It's one of the signature moments of a Green Day show, but on the album it grew thin pretty quickly. I'm not actually mad, don't worry. Second worst? Really? It's my favorite on the whole thing. Yeah, after Tight Wad Hill. I do love the rest of the album though, it's my favourite of theirs.

Guest Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Bab's Uvula Who is the best fucking song on the whole album.
HolyHandGrenade Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 86 is frustratingly redundant - the 99 Revs of its day (Yes, I know Panic Song is one note for two minutes, but I love it)
Z J Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 On "millennium" where it shifts from B to C, then the shift up to D that takes place across the four bars before the last verse. The first transition is good, and I love the second one, I just don't like where it ends up. Ok so we were on the same page the whole time. I absolutely love when it comes in on "All I wanna" ... that whole verse is pure magicI'm pretty convinced Brain Stew on BIAB is a performance that belongs in the rock Hall of Fame
Spike Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 I just can't fathom ranking "Jaded" below "Bab's Uvula Who". Babs' Uvula Who is literally my favourite Green Day song.
