Anaïs. Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 well actually, in my opinion Extradorinary girl is one of the stronger tracks Album haha Which would you consider to be the weak ones?
JOE THE X-KID Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Which would you consider to be the weak ones? well I'm gonna get blasted for this, but my least favourite are Are we the waiting, St jimmy and she's a rebel. Not that I dislike them, they're brilliant songs but I usually skip them.
Oxymore Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Am I the only one that thinks Broadway is the best song by FBHT? Damn yes, especially the noise in the very beginning. And Mother Mary too, freaking love it. Except ''there's a GARDEN in the PARK there''. We can thank pot for this amazing line.

HolyHandGrenade Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Am I the only one that thinks Broadway is the best song by FBHT? It's always been Pieces of Truth for me. Billie's vocals have great personality, and Freese's sax solo is superb. Plus I just love the chug-a-chug-a rhythm from Tre and all the great bends guitar-wise.

Yeah I love the line 'Digging trouble with a shovel' and in 27th Avenue Shuffle 'Pills and alcohol are making me a lost cause'.
Anaïs. Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Am I the only one that thinks Broadway is the best song by FBHT? My favorite's always been "The Pedestrian". Just so much fun.
jakdokinori Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 My favorite's always been "The Pedestrian". Just so much fun. I love the music video for it. It's a simple concept but the editing is really well done so it goes with the song.

Not that I dislike them, they're brilliant songs but I usually skip them. I sort of understand with Are We The Waiting. The pace makes it so you have to be in the right mood for it but lyrically its a great song. I don't think there is really a drop off at all to the album, it's strong all the way through.

I think it's solid lyrically, there's so many great lines in there that if you just look at them written down (not in the context of the song) they just stand out as great lines, poetic, clever, etc.
cocoepops Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 As much as I adore all touring members of Green Day, I often do wish it was just them three again.
Cath Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 As much as I adore all touring members of Green Day, I often do wish it was just them three again. i know what you mean but to me they will always be three. but the others bring some fun during shows especially during KFAD
cocoepops Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 i know what you mean but to me they will always be three. but the others bring some fun during shows especially during KFAD Yeah, I know. I love them during that but a part of me wants to see the tiny little punk teenagers I fell in love with when I was a kid.
The Disappearing Boy Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 What's wrong with that line? Because a park is kinda like a big garden. It's a bit like saying 'the pond in the middle of the ocean'. Pedestrian is probably my favourite fbht song. Love the solo on it.
jakdokinori Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 The Not So Silent night in Oakland was just them as a trio right? It was definitely cool seeing them playing like that like back in the early 90's.
Guest Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 The Not So Silent night in Oakland was just them as a trio right? It was definitely cool seeing them playing like that like back in the early 90's. Nah Whitey was there.
Spike Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Because a park is kinda like a big garden. It's a bit like saying 'the pond in the middle of the ocean'. I have to disagree in context. It's quite a common thing to have specific areas of a larger park defined as a garden, where there are loads of flowers, maybe a pond, etc, as opposed to just an open area of grass with trees etc. Either way, I think it makes sense.
Z J Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 I think Extraordinary Girl is a very good song outside of the one line "extraordinary girl in an ordinary world" That line is so cringe worthy that it brings down the whole song to me. Also, would it be unpopular that I consider JOS the best punk-rock song ever? Sure you could get in to semantics over what each of us considers to be punk, but seriously, this song is incredible. Every damn line is one that would be a fantastic line on its own, but they're combined together to form this behemoth of song that features so many different incredible moments. From the opening chords you're drawn in. It is the quickest 9 minutes there is.

jakdokinori Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Nah Whitey was there. I'm pretty sure he wasn't, in Cuatro on the way to the gig they joke about Jason not being there, it was a really short notice booking because another band couldn;t make it or something but Jason wasn't available to play. He's not in any of the photo's from the gig and I remember people talking about how it was so rare to see them play as a trio again.
Guest Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 I don't really consider AI punk, even though it's probably their most "punk" album in terms of content (Insomniac aside obviously). It's borderline stadium rock. Is stadium punk a thing?
Spike Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 I don't really consider AI punk, even though it's probably their most "punk" album in terms of content (Insomniac aside obviously). It's borderline stadium rock. Is stadium punk a thing? If it is, Green Day invented it. I'm gonna go with yes. I've never agreed with the pop punk label, and they're not quite alternative rock, so that label's actually really good. As for JOS, in short, yes.
Z J Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 I think Green Day's genre could be considered...IDK..."punk-based" music? I think they really initiated modern pop-punk with kerplunk and dookie but they don't sound like a lot of pop punk bands nowadays. There's a stadium feel to most of AI so stadium rock could work When I first started liking Green Day I had always called them alternative rock. They're a cluster-fuck of similar genres. I personally think it's probably in the top 50 songs in history, and will eventually be ranked accordingly by the critics Yes. I think when its all said and done, critics will recognize JOS as far and away their best work, and one of the best songs of the decade and beyond.
walking_c0ntradicti0n Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 ok, preparing for the blasts, but my favorite part of JOS is I Don't Care and my favorite part of Homecoming is Nobody Likes You
