AlissaGoesRAWR Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 FYI, Green Day's set was shorter than everyone else that performed that night. I watched it life and that popped out to me immediately. They're set was cut because Usher went over and they needed time for Rihanna's full set. When they came out and said that set was not cut, that was Warner trying to make amends. It was NOT cut short! It was said multiple times afterward, and they were not headlining. Billie even said he had no idea what was going on (clearly). Do you really think he was aware enough to realize "oh, I was supposed to play for X minutes, now I've only got Y minutes, initiate meltdown?" If it wasn't the time, in that state of mind, he would have just had a meltdown about something else anyway, regardless of the set time. Doesn't matter what. When you're that fucked up, anything and everything will piss you off and put you over the edge.
JOE THE X-KID Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 When I said it makes me feel better, I just mean it's gets a lot of anger out of me watching Billie swear and smash his guitar. Obviously it was awful though and I'm so glad Billie got better.

Anaïs. Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 I think any "rock and roll attitude" that might have existed (though I don't think that's the case) was spoiled by how clearly, obnoxiously selfish Billie was being. His use of the word "I" instead of "we" is important. *I've* been around since 1988, *I'm* not Justin Bieber, *I've* only got one minute. It's so clear that he was thinking nothing of his bandmates at that moment, about how this would make them look or how they were in this together. It was all about him, he was pathetically wasted, and he did an extremely stupid, selfish thing.
Spike Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 I don't get why no one bothered to notice that three minutes before the "ONE FUCKING MINUTE" outburst he saw they had four minutes left and was like "oh damn, we've only got four minutes left, that's gone fast."

He may have been in a state of (drunken) mind that can only focus on itself. And, well, he is Green Day. But what to expect of someone who was totally fucked up... I don't get why no one bothered to notice that three minutes before the "ONE FUCKING MINUTE" outburst he saw they had four minutes left and was like "oh damn, we've only got four minutes left, that's gone fast." Yes, I noticed that. So it could have been any reason for him to freak out.

In the aftermath the morning after, I was quite disappointed in him, it was only in the light of the whole rehab thing a couple of days later it became a little more excusable, if still as dislikable as before.
Jax Teller Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 He was very wasted to think the difference between "I" and "we". Guys, is easy to judge someone but we don't really know anything about him. I see no reason to continue the discussion about Iheart.
Z J Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 1. I never said Billie planned that, anywhere. 2. Attitude doesn't require drugs of any sort but it does speed up conflicts/meltdowns 3. The fact that you are complaining about his use of "I" is absurd, he was blasted. Alcoholism is selfish and going out there unable to perform is selfish, but using the wrong freaking word is not where he went wrong here.

It wasn't, and I, like everyone else here, am relieved he got help for the alcoholism, which *was* the biggest problem. I was just saying that that was the nail in the coffin that prevented me from ever appreciating the "rock and roll" attitude, because it's a verbal expression of how much he wasn't thinking. It would be completely absurd if that were my largest problem with the incident, I agree.

Also I agree that the attitude I talk about certainly doesn't require alcoholism or drugs The more I discuss this the more I realize iHeart wasn't a great example

The only part that really bothers me is when he said "I've been around since 1998" plus it also makes it seem like he was born In 1998 too haha, although he was gone so it's somewhat excusable

He's a vampire, I tell you.

The dude does not fucking age For an opinion: Reject would probably be my favorite song on Nimrod outside of Good Riddance if they had done it acoustically like Billie did for the radio show. I absolutely love it.

munns6691 Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 And to get back to the music.. I really like Having A Blast

MichelleB. Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 I noticed that "I" shit too. I think after "Warning", they were seriously about to be done and, somebody awesome came along and gave them all kinds of awesome ideas and, they took the ideas, ran away with them as their own, got big without saying shit about how they became so awesome again out of nowhere and, got their shitty egos somewhere around that time.

I don't know about that. People can get pretty grandiose when they're drunk, I don't think it has anything to do with their 'shitty egos'. Plus Mike is probably the most humble musician I know of.
