Anaïs. Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 YOU. What? I genuinely believe it's a strong possibility.
AlissaGoesRAWR Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 What? I genuinely believe it's a strong possibility. I'm just kidding. But seriously, I don't think it'll happen, and I'm being objective.
Guest Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 I'm just kidding. But seriously, I don't think it'll happen, and I'm being objective. Can you even do that?
Anaïs. Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Can you even do that? She better well be able to if she's a GDCNN reporter.
AlissaGoesRAWR Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 She better well be able to if she's a GDCNN reporter. I just don't see the logic in it. Your hunches are based on Billie being a showoff (not exactly a new development), each band member's apparent disinterest in the band (unprovable) and Billie's sobriety (way too early in that stage of his life to make a rash decision like breaking up the band, imo). Wouldn't this have already happened by now?
DookieLukie Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Yeah, I honestly think the "Green Day breaking up" hunch is a bunch of shit Seadog has churned up just for attention. Fangirling aside, it just doesn't seem logical to me. I honestly think it would've happened already, a while ago, likely after Warning, if they were a band that was only driven by mainstream success or their own personal agendas. Whatever their roles in the band, they seem to be fine with them, and as long as they're happy, I don't really care what they do. Although I'd prefer they start touring the fucking U.S. soon, or put out a kickass CD... Omg, don't even talk about that album. Terrible. Dogs Eating Dogs was great though.
AlissaGoesRAWR Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Dogs Eating Dogs was great though. It was pretty good. A step in the right direction, for sure. Still a little too Angels & Airwaves for me.
DookieLukie Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 It was pretty good. A step in the right direction, for sure. Still a little too Angels & Airwaves for me. I used to think A&A was cool. Not anymore lol. It got old fast.
Z J Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Hm a couple of points I want to hit: Foreverly was a true mastery of harmonies. Billie did it for impressive reasons and he pulled it off. You don't have to like that style of music (I don't) to appreciate that. The Grammy's performance was solid, nothing special about it. Miranda was a bit sharp, but it was a good PR performance for Billie, keeping people aware that he and Green Day are alive and well is important for their next endeavor, I believe. I think the big thing that the people predicting a break-up are incorrect on is the notion that Billie isn't enjoying himself. If anything, it appeared to me he and the band have never been more appreciative to be on the stage. Billie's first show back was proof of that. You can see it in Mike's actions too, they're enjoying every moment. Like I've said before, we will learn a ton about their future on this Australian tour. The setlists will tell us a lot, mainly it will tell us if we are going to get some sort of Dookie-related treat () I'm excited for the future of this band, they can only go up from the trilogy. They have a blank slate it seems, they appear ready to embrace other types of music and we'll see if that influences what the next album/project sounds like

Unpopular opinion: I think the future looks bright for Green Day, because although the band marketed the trilogy as their "no pressure" albums, after their failure, whatever their next project will be their real "no pressure" album. They have nothing to lose now.
Guest Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 I think the band shit out the Trilogy on purpose, knowing it would be a flop. They probably sat back, looked at the fact that all their work was being compared to AI (a pretty un-toppable standard) and went, "Oh fuck this, let's put out some terrible albums so that our critics hit the re-set button for us." Now, their next album will be compared to the Trilogy, and will seem absolutely fucking brilliant. And I'll be sitting here ready to judge it to fuck
munns6691 Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 I had a dream Green Day's next album was all electronica music. So the Trilogy isn't nearly as bad as it could be ha.

Hermione Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 They don't make music for it to be a success, they make it because they feel like making it. They felt like having some fun and making some spontaneous, simpler albums so they did, and they believed in them so they put them out. They make music for themselves with the aim of expressing themselves creatively, if fans and critics like the result then great but that isn't the motivation for making it (which is why they're a good band). Hopefully you were joking though
Mar Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 It's quite good, but that's kind of it. I don't like how half way through they're just like "fuck this" and change it up completely out of nowhere. I love the first half, the second part kind of bores me, so I finish the song feeling quite empty when it got off to a promising start. That's exactly how I feel about Christie Road. I only listen to half of it

Hopefully you were joking though Exactly! It was the same thing with Insomniac, they could have easily made Dookie part 2 and been even bigger, but decided not to. I love that.
klytaemnestra Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 "Hello? This is Brandon, but my friends call me Spike now?" that song is a masterpiece
munns6691 Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 I like Money Money 2020 a helluva lot more than I like the Trilogy This makes me understand your opinions more. How do you feel about Kerplunk?
alexandra_1039 Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 that song is a masterpiece i quite enjoy listening to spike to be honest.
alexandra_1039 Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 I always think of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" when I listen to Spike, I am not the least bit ashamed. hahaha that blonde guy right? oh great, now thats gonna pop into my head every time.
