jakdokinori Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 no idea….. this one Oh yeah! Sounds great. It's nice to mix it up a little from listening to album tracks by listening to these instead.
Guest Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 no idea….. this one That's probably the best one, really. I'd be interested to hear what the record label heard that made them sign Green Day

stories and songs Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 Surprisingly, I feel like this is an unpopular opinion: Despite my negative feelings toward the Trilogy (which I think is largely from the incredibly rough start and overall weird feeling of this era), despite the fact that I felt "meh" about the concert I went to for this tour... I can say with full confidence and with as much objectivity as I can muster that I don't think this period of the band's career is indicative of what's to come in their future. Not at all. I may be wrong for doing this, but I chalk up a lot of the strange themes/lyrics up to the personal issues that were likely going on behind the scenes as they were making the Trilogy. In addition to not being able to promote the Trilogy, their genre of music was hardly at a peak when the albums were released, thus causing poor sales. And in terms of the band not really "feeling it" anymore (this was something mentioned several pages back, but it's an interesting subject) - this tour was a time of transition for them. They got out on the road very quickly after Billie got sober (too quickly, in my opinion - none of my business, I know, but that's just how I feel). And suddenly, a huge element of their life on the road was taken away, the drinking. It was surely very difficult for Billie to get used to, and probably effected the rest of the band members in varying degrees. This tour didn't feel quite right to a number of people (myself included), but I think that's why. They were still navigating during this tour, and understandably so. I appreciate that they wanted to get back out there and be professional, but I also think everyone would've benefitted from more time off before touring. I think this hiatus will be fairly long. And I'm okay with that. Because even when they jumped back on tour seemingly announcing "Okay we're back, everything's fine, moving on," that obviously wasn't the case, for them or for us. What happened was no small deal, and that takes time to recover from. But I don't doubt for a second that with time, perhaps some side projects, and a little re-energizing, they'll be back in fine form. I think in the grand scheme of things, this will be like the lost era. Shit happened, the Trilogy wasn't that well received, but ultimately, the band will carry on. This era was not good. Not for this fan, and probably not for the band themselves, either. There are honestly too many bad/strange/questionable things that went down these past couple of years to even mention, but this wasn't pleasant in many ways. It prompted me to take a rather long break from them after seeing my concert last April. But I keep coming back. I always come back, because this band and their music is just in me. I certainly think they'd say the same.
Z J Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 After listening to the full KALX acoustic show, I can't imagine wanting anything more in life than an acoustic album of old green day songs (without all of the forgotten lyrics ).
Jollyroger118 Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 After listening to the full KALX acoustic show, I can't imagine wanting anything more in life than an acoustic album of old green day songs (without all of the forgotten lyrics ). That's always been a dream of mine but it shouldn't be strictly old songs, there's plenty from AI through the trilogy that would make awesome acoustics. Some trilogy songs might benefit a lot from the intimacy. But I'd want it to be a lot of really rare songs that aren't played a lot. And I've said this before but I'd love an album of medlies like the acoustic encores. Or an album of both depending on the songs but yeah I think it'd be awesome (as fuck). I have the whole KALX and all the acoustic encores I could find on my iPod cause I love them but if they ever did that it should be recorded live but in a studio ya know, and I think it should just be Billie or maybe Billie and Mike both on guitars like when they played Redundant on MTV which is another great acoustic performance. But only on some songs cause there's something really special when you're just watching Billie and his guitar play to thousands of people. But I'd like to see them do JOS or Homecoming and songs like that should have two guitars. But I'm just dreaming... That's probably the best one, really. They're all here if you want em. http://www.greendaycommunity.org/topic/94647-dookie-demos-tape-1/http://www.greendaycommunity.org/topic/94648-dookie-demos-tape-2/http://www.greendaycommunity.org/topic/94649-dookie-demos-tape-3/ How come his voice sounds so different on each? Did he sing that way or were they mixed different?

Sarcasm Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 I really don't want Billie to go solo just because I'm not a fan of country. It's come to the point where I wouldn't even buy a record if he put out some more country. Foreverly was just so boring to me.. :/
rootbeersoup Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 I really don't want Billie to go solo just because I'm not a fan of country. Please bring back screencaps.
Guest Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Yeah if Billie went solo I'd have absolutely no interest in that. Foreverly is everything I hate in music. On the other hand, if Mike and Tré split and started their own band...
Spike Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 A Mike solo album would be very interesting indeed. I wouldn't mind a country album from Billie, I'd buy it but probably wouldn't listen to it very often.

Spike Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 DON'T FEED THE MAN'S HABIT Country is the worst kind of drug. Have you bought any Green Day merch since Billie decided to be alcoholic in the 90s? YEAH, SHUT UP.
Guest Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Have you bought any Green Day merch since Billie decided to be alcoholic in the 90s? YEAH, SHUT UP. Actually, nope. I have one Green Day shirt, and that was bought for me. So there Plus I'd much rather he be a full blown alcoholic than a country star. I'd have far more respect for him as a drunk.

Guest Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Aren't they basically the same thing? Not anymore.
UNICORN VOMIT Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Have you bought any Green Day merch since Billie decided to be alcoholic in the 90s? YEAH, SHUT UP. Decided to be an alcoholic ....... & ceadog - you are joking right
Guest Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 I don't know why anyone ever thinks I'm being serious, really.
The Disappearing Boy Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Also, no acoustic albums. Just no.
Jason Fox Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 DON'T FEED THE MAN'S HABIT Country is the worst kind of drug. Quote of the year. But really, I can't stand country. I didn't care for the Grammy performance, nor did I care for Foreverly, and I don't like the idea of Billie Joe of all people having a solo career in country.
Spike Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Also, no acoustic albums. Just no. Skin & Bones style albums, yes please.
JOE THE X-KID Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 I really don't want Billie to go solo just because I'm not a fan of country. It's come to the point where I wouldn't even buy a record if he put out some more country. Foreverly was just so boring to me.. :/ I like country a fair bit but i wouldnt ever want Billie to go solo full time. Green Day is Billie, Mike and Tre, all of them together makes Green Day sound like Green Day.
Jax Teller Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Do you really believe that Billie going solo to be a country star? He just covered an album that he loves, doesn't mean anything.
