Spike Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Are those high notes falsettos? The crazy highs in the 5th octave are, but he regularly hits high in the 4th octave on The Static Age, 21st Century Breakdown and Highway To Hell in full voice.
Bastard of 1969 Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Mate I could sing Welcome To Paradise well. It's not very vocally challenging But, It's pretty different than other shows he did before.
Anaïs. Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Re-visiting AI: The Musical and just damn damn damn, I love how all those pretty harmonies that only get hinted at when you hear GD perform the songs are fleshed out into orgasmic perfection in the Broadway versions
Spike Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 I think the harmonies are great as they are, especially Jesus Of Suburbia. Can't say I'm particularly into the Broadway versions.

The Broadway versions are far too clean and prettied-up. Having supposedly rebellious, dangerous characters played by people with Glee-quality voices is more humorous than anything.
Spike Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 The Broadway versions are far too clean and prettied-up. Having supposedly rebellious, dangerous characters played by people with Glee-quality voices is more humorous than anything. It is absolutely ridiculous. Yep, Unpopular Opinion time. The Broadway versions are a joke and it's no wonder Green Day took a lot of shit for it. I bought the soundtrack album and couldn't get to the end of it. As if the Breakdown songs aren't Disneyfied enough

As if the Breakdown songs aren't Disneyfied enough The worst single song on there has to be the attempted mashup between LOTAG and She's a Rebel. I wanted to vomit out of my ears. This is why I hope the movie NEVER happens.
Spike Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 I thought that was the popular opinion, though?? Is it? I really wouldn't know, it's not in my best interests to pay attention to these things
Spike Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 This thread has gotten way too meta. Ugh. Unpopular Unpopular Green Day Opinions Opinions: I like this thread.

This is why I hope the movie NEVER happens. That's the one song I have to skip when listening to the CD. It's horrible. One the other hand I really enjoy Before the Lobotomy and the reprise. Probably my 2 favorite tracks.

Mykee Mexx Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Ha! And I don´t even care for Green Day! Well, no, that´s not an unpopular opinion... It´s a lie!
Guest Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 I've never managed to listen to more than 10 seconds of any of the musical tracks.
Backyard Skulls Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 ^ same. Barring When it's Time but that was sung by gd so it doesn't really count. My favourite era of Billie's voice was def the AI era. His voice had matured enough, wasn't whiny or too nasally as it used to be. Don't really like anything onwards beside a few songs where he hits really high notes.
The Grouch is Tracy Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 So...... American idiot is finally coming to our city for a night.....do I bother?
Guest Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 So...... American idiot is finally coming to our city for a night.....do I bother? Not unless you're an insane fangirl or you really love musical theatre
The Grouch is Tracy Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Not unless you're an insane fangirl or you really love musical theatre Ok.....I am an insane fangirl with a dislike of musical theatre! Arrrghhhhh....fuck you Green Day!
Anaïs. Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Not unless you're an insane fangirl or you really love musical theatre Hell, musicals are one of my great loves and I would never go see AI.
Guest Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Hell, musicals are one of my great loves and I would never go see AI. I loathe musicals and AI is one of my favourite albums so no way am I gonna sit through it being butchered
Guest Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Do it. It's one thing to site behind a computer and scoff at the musical (Ceadagh, I'm looking at you!) but it's quite another to go and experience it live. Yeah, the suicidal feelings are so much stronger.
