alexandra_1039 Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 I think Lady Cobra and Makeout Party are some of the best on the trilogy because of that more rough sound they have. more "punk" if you will. Random unrelated opinion: i love kill the dj

Spike Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Wild One is the most boring song I've ever heard. It's just a dirge. Too slow, crying out for energy it doesn't have, poor lyrics. Just... Yeah.
bioshockerxx Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 "I'm drinking the Kool-Aid, I jumped on the grenade." Shoddy writing quality of that lyric aside, it just *sounds* awkward when it's sung. Yuck. When I 1st heard wild one I thought he said "I jumped on a granny"....
alexandra_1039 Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 first part: No Second part: Maybe... why no?
DookieLukie Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Wild One is the most boring song I've ever heard. It's just a dirge. Too slow, crying out for energy it doesn't have, poor lyrics. Just... Yeah. The solo is fucking sexy though. Best part of the song.
Spike Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 The solo is fucking sexy though. Best part of the song. Yeah, I'll give you that. But it's not worth sitting through the rest of the song just to hear it.
WhiteTim Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 I like Wild One but not enough to defend it lol
walking_c0ntradicti0n Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 why no? the songs suck, that's all there is to it really. starting to like kill the dj so thats why i said maybe for it
The Disappearing Boy Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 why no? Brutal Love, X-Kid, Missing You, Lazy Bones, Nuclear Family, Stay the Night and Kill the DJ are all better
DookieLukie Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Yeah, I'll give you that. But it's not worth sitting through the rest of the song just to hear it. Sure it is!
walking_c0ntradicti0n Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Brutal Love, X-Kid, Missing You, Lazy Bones, Nuclear Family, Stay the Night and Kill the DJ are all better wow, you like nailed that song list...
Hermione Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 You people know that other people can like different songs to you and are just as "justified" in liking the songs they like as you are in liking the songs you like right? You can't argue with someone's personal taste, it just is what it is. Not sure why anyone would want to try and convince others not to like/enjoy something anyway.

Hermione Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 this is an unpopular opinions thread, the arguments are inevitable Oh yeah, people saying they don't like stuff and discussing what they think is better or worse is to be expected. Just seems to be a trend lately (here and in other threads) for acting like others have to justify liking stuff and/or acting like not liking stuff or liking stuff less makes you more rational or cool or something . Seems to be a surge of that on here from time to time, bit of a pet peeve of mine

I agree, but people have two options: They can share my opinion, or they can be wrong.

Very true, although I wouldn't go as far as to say anyone's been an insufferable douche I agree, but people have two options: They can share my opinion, or they can be wrong. And then there's when it's in jest like this, no objection to that
Spike Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 One of these days I'm just going to say something like "I LOVE NIGHTLIFE," and walk out of the thread. I love Nightlife. No, really.
Certified Nimrod Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Only if it's artful simplicity, though. Not crappy Instagram photos with x's for eyes. In Green Day's defense, those pictures were not posted on Instagram.
Spike Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 In Green Day's defense, those pictures were not posted on Instagram. That's even more hipster of them
Spike Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 I feel like we're really scraping the bottom of the barrel here, but here goes.... I don't get the Insomniac artwork. I don't think it makes any sense or ties in to the album at all. I don't hate it or anything, it always just puzzled me. I've been thinking that too. It's really tenuous, is it meant to represent some kind of dream state resulting in bizarre delusions or something? I always just saw it as an attempt to do something in the style of Dookie but edgier. I've just found this about it. Interesting.

Seems to be a surge of that on here from time to time, bit of a pet peeve of mine Welcome to people talking about music...ever. One of these days I'm just going to say something like "I LOVE NIGHTLIFE," and walk out of the thread. That's probably been done before A lot of people like Nightlife. Honestly, although I dislike the song, it's cool that Green Day experimented with something new, which was rare on the Trilogy.

Honestly, although I dislike the song, it's cool that Green Day experimented with something new, which was rare on the Trilogy. I've always got the impression that Nightlife is disliked purely because it's Green Day and they "shouldn't be doing that kind of music." Silly. That is a really, really cool article. It helped clear up a couple of questions. Thanks for posting!!! You're welcome! I found it fascinating myself, if that's where the album title comes from then mind=blown.
Anaïs. Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 I've always got the impression that Nightlife is disliked purely because it's Green Day and they "shouldn't be doing that kind of music." Silly. Or because it contains lines such as "I hope there's more in your pants than a bus route."
