Z J Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 This will always be the best non-Green Day version of Good Riddance, for me. Their head twitching reminds me of old Billie. They did When I Come Around too.
Spike Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 How could a band with members called Billie Joe Armrest and Tre Stool not share the properties of seats?
munns6691 Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 How could a band with members called Billie Joe Armrest and Tre Stool not share the properties of seats? HA!
DookieLukie Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 Unpopular Green Day opinion? They are very poor armrests. What this thread has come to...
Your Long Lost Son Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 There are several I think are good or really good, but the only remarkable one is the 21st Century Breakdown video. This is the only video I was excited about when it came on MTV. Everything from the graphics to those two men kissing is just the best.
Drain Bramaged Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 - I prefer 21st Century Breakdown to American Idiot - I'd rather listen to Awesome As Fuck instead of most studio recordings - The best album in the trilogy was ¡Dos! and Nightlife is an awesome song - Almost half of ¡Uno! is shit - Good Ridddance shouldn't be the closer for their shows anymore, instead start playing The Forgotten but then, suddenly start playing Platypus (I Hate You) and trash the stage

Spike Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 I still don't get why people have so much hate for The Forgotten. Yeah it's kind of boring, but it's no worse than When It's Time. It's just bland an inoffensive to the point where it's not even worth hating. It's not like they're ever gonna play it live and, ironically, we'll all have forgotten about it this time next year. It's a shame that they're making songs like this, but if we're going to be vitriolic about anything it should be Dos.

Z J Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 How the fuck does "The Forgotten" not have a clear meaning. well I don't feel it is necessary to go over the whole song, I will if you'd like. Here's the opening verse Where in the world’s the forgotten? They’re lost inside your memoryYou’re dragging on, your heart’s been brokenAs we all go down in history four lines that honestly do not look like they connect to each other at all. Maybe its just me
Spike Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 The meaning is clear: Billie loves Twilight. That's what the song expresses. Or something.
Jollyroger118 Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 I have no idea what The Forgotten really means, if it does mean anything at all, it's like a bunch of clichés and words that sound meaningful but when actually look at it mean nothing. And I hate it as a closer to the trilogy considering it sounds nothing like the rest of it and doesn't really have any of the same themes and shit. I feel like they made that song just to have a song like that on the trilogy. I hope they just forget it. But I'd love if he started doing acoustic encores again with trilogy songs, it'd be a good way to still play them and get them out there even though they're not real popular and I think they'd sound really cool in the medley like fashion he does the encores in. Imagine the first part of DRB (like he did here with Before the Lobotomy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQbhC31kTa8 ) and then like Wild One or Rusty James (those are just some of my favorites but you get the idea). I think it'd be really cool and might actually suit the trilogy songs quite well. Make it happen BJ!

Why does he not do acoustic encores like this anymore??
Spike Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 That video is absolutely fucking fantastic. Thanks for sharing! I really do miss acoustic encores, they were the best part of the show. Now THAT is probably an unpopular opinion.

Guest Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 The Forgotten is just a mishmash of completely ambiguous cliches that mean fuck all. I'm generally quite good at lyrical analysis and I got nothing from it.

Guest Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 Clearly not good enough then, are you? I challenge you to come up with anything of substance from it
Anaïs. Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 I challenge you to come up with anything of substance from it The substance is Billie wanted another hit ballad but couldn't be arsed to write lyrics; therefore, he went online, found a handful of inspirational phrases on Google image search, and pasted them together. Of course, I'm sure Hermione has some insane retcon she made to justify it to herself.

Guest Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 i hate you all I sense a small amount of bias in this post.

I get the context and how young Billie was when he wrote it, but it is FAR cheesier than The Forgotten ever could be IMO. The Forgotten does a better job of hiding its schmaltz, but with WIT it's right in your face.
