Asa. Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Mike (and Jason ) both definitely deserve more vocals. But Tre is just too hard to take seriously.
Spike Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Tre's voice serves a purpose. Every song he's done is meant to be tongue in cheek. If he sang WMUWSE things might be a bit different
Anaïs. Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Now that I'm un-suspended (completely crap warning system you guys) AAF the CD sounds slightly different because it is from the tour where Billie sang the best. You can find the video of the 21 guns performance (at shoreline) and it is identical to what you hear on the CD. He sounds different throughout the whole tour. CD reflects that Not always, though. In some cases ("East Jesus Nowhere", "Christie Road") you can clearly hear the pitch being shifted up and down.
JOE THE X-KID Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Hahaha "Gotta get away, or my brains will explode," that line gets me every time, I always think whoever did the pitch correction or whatever there should be fired it's a shame cause its a really good version, minus the pitch correction
Certified Nimrod Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Tre's voice serves a purpose. Every song he's done is meant to be tongue in cheek. If he sang WMUWSE things might be a bit different I need to hear that.
Spike Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 I need to hear that. "Wake me up yeehaw when September ends... pickup truck."
munns6691 Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Define "more mic time" when you guys say it. I think it is a shame to Green Day if Billie isn't singing 97% of the time.
WhiteTim Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Not always, though. In some cases ("East Jesus Nowhere", "Christie Road") you can clearly hear the pitch being shifted up and down. On Christie Road case it was being done live as you can hear the same thing on the crappy audience recording
Certified Nimrod Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Are you really writing that book in your sig or is it a joke?
Antonium2200 Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 "Wake me up yeehaw when September ends... pickup truck." I laughed my ass off. Thank you so much.
WhiteTim Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Are you really writing that book in your sig or is it a joke? Lol just a joke from the "Adrienne is taking credit for everything" debate from the Billie + Norah thread
Certified Nimrod Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Lol just a joke from the "Adrienne is taking credit for everything" debate from the Billie + Norah thread Oh I never heard of that lol
naliuj Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 I know. It's just that Billie's not known for it, so 21 Guns stands out in that respect. Yeah I suppose so. He may not be known for it but I am 99% sure that there are some minor touch ups at least in the albums since American Idiot. Just what I think though. But I can definitely see what you mean with 21 Guns. Define "more mic time" when you guys say it. I think it is a shame to Green Day if Billie isn't singing 97% of the time. I think a few more Tre songs and singing parts of songs like in Homecoming. That's my interpretation though.
Antonium2200 Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 I personally think Billie Joe's signature red tie-black shirt should be yellow tie-black shirt, because he looks more like a bad ass like that.
munns6691 Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 I would like to see Mike doing more things like he did in "American Eulogy." Not singing the whole song, but singing a verse or a chorus or something. Every once and a while is okay sure, I just wouldn't want it to be overdone. Maybe 1 song per album.
Spike Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 If you want more of Mike singing, go listen to Dookie through low-quality headphones. Billie's vocals are mixed so low on parts of that album (like the chorus of Having A Blast) it almost sounds like Mike's backing vocals are meant to be the lead anyway.
munns6691 Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 I think a few more Tre songs and singing parts of songs like in Homecoming. That's my interpretation though. I'd be okay if Tre never sang another song for an album. If you want more of Mike singing, go listen to Dookie through low-quality headphones. Billie's vocals are mixed so low on parts of that album (like the chorus of Having A Blast) it almost sounds like Mike's backing vocals are meant to be the lead anyway. And for those who want to hear Jason sing, listen to Pinhead Gunpowder. Him and Billie go back and forth with West Side Highway
WhiteTim Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Oh I never heard of that lol Quick breakdown is Billie said Adrienne suggested Norah and some fans tweeted her thanking her for it some of the Adie haters on here was bashing her for "taking credit" til mods told folks to knock it off
HolyHandGrenade Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Every once and a while is okay sure, I just wouldn't want it to be overdone. Maybe 1 song per album. Or listen to The Network
Antonium2200 Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 I'm not sure if this is unpopular or not, but I heavily dislike Nightlife.
solongfromthestars Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Not sure if this is really an unpopular opinion but loads of people seem to believe it so... it's such bullshit when fans are all "oh I knew something was wrong at Irving Plaza" or "I felt it in the air at Shepherd's Bush". No you didn't, everyone was all over that Irving Plaza gig saying Billie was "on fire" and not one person said they noticed something at Shepherd's Bush before the rehab thing.

Also related, it's really annoying when fans are constantly worried about Billie over every little thing. There were already a fair few like that before any of the rehab stuff but their numbers have exploded now lol. It's a drag. I assume that opinion is that unpopular either though.

It says a lot that he's not allowed to smash a guitar up now without a whole thread emerging about it. That whole thing is one of the most facepalm-worthy things I've ever seen.
Antonium2200 Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 I hate how people whine and bitch about how "Green Day has changed" or "Green Day has turned gay and shitty now." I'm not talking about the ones that favour the old albums and are still fans of Green Day, I'm the talking about the ones that favour the old albums, but have stopped listening to Green Day completely just because the band has evolved. It's these fans that people that piss me off because they think the world revolves around them, and that the bands should make the music they want. A band makes music the way they want to, not the way you want it.
