greendayinsomniac Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Unpopular opinion right here. Suffocate is one of Green Day's best songs.
Z J Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Unpopular opinion right here. Suffocate is one of Green Day's best songs. I wouldn't go that far, but it is definitely single worthy. Very melodic
The Grouch is Tracy Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Well yeah, I'm not saying I want him to do it all the time. Insomniac is my favourite album, that says a lot about the vocals I like in general. But it's nice to see another side to him and to hear it on maybe 3 or 4 songs an album would be really good, especially as they're now so good at writing glorified power ballads. Also amma just leave this here to make the point about how good a singer Billie is. My daughter thought that Green Day ripped off Avril Lavigne....oh the shame and horror.....
stories and songs Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 It's a damn shame Billie's vocals aren't showcased more. He's clearly very good. 21 Guns, Restless Heart Syndrome, Brutal Love and Last Night On Earth are all impressive vocally, as is the Everly Brothers cover we've heard. I kinda hope he gives himself more room to showcase that side of him in future. Agreed. It's just that their music doesn't really give much room for him to show off his singing ability. And you know - I've always absolutely loved his voice. That said, I don't think I ever considered him to be a "great singer" until I saw him as St. Jimmy on Broadway. He blew the roof off the place, and kept up with the trained Broadway singers fabulously. I was happily surprised. I have so much more admiration for his vocal abilities now.
walking_c0ntradicti0n Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 assuming this is unpopular: i like Hearts Collide better than Lights Out on that Ep
Guest Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 assuming this is unpopular: i like Hearts Collide better than Lights Out on that Ep Definitely, considering Lights Out is fantastic and Hearts Collide is shite.
WhiteTim Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Definitely, considering Lights Out is shite and Hearts Collide is fantastic. Fixed it for ya you're welcome
walking_c0ntradicti0n Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 allow me to guess why hearts collide is shit. the kajillion times they say the line "tonight hearts collide, hearts collide, hearts collide"
Guest Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 allow me to guess why hearts collide is shit. the kajillion times they say the line "tonight hearts collide, hearts collide, hearts collide" Nailed it
DookieLukie Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Definitely, considering Lights Out is fantastic and Hearts Collide is shite. Lights Out is crap and Hearts Collide is cheesy but epic.
Jollyroger118 Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 I actually love Hearts Collide and like Lights Out. It's a cool sappy little song and I'd be willing to bet it came from Cigarettes and Valentines. But no one knows...
The Grouch is Tracy Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 SHAME on you. Bad parenting! It's not like she hasn't been forced to listen to GD from when she was still in the womb or anything......Lights Out is crap and Hearts Collide is cheesy but epic. Lights Out reminds me of AFlock of Seagulls from the eighties song "I Ran...so far away" I hear it every time!
JOE THE X-KID Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 But Hearts collide helped me when i liked someone....
Spike Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 I must admit I've never even listened to Hearts Collide. The title and the lyrics put me off too much. It's just like when Muse did Neutron Star Collision all over again
JOE THE X-KID Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 Am I the only one that likes sappy lyrics?
Guest Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 i do too, but there's good sappy lyrics.... and then there's fucking terrible sappy lyrics Says the one who likes Sweet 16
Guest Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 SHUT UP really though the sweet 16 lyrics aren't even that bad other than the chorus That song makes 1000 Hours look positively Shakespearean.
Guest Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 -_- Let my hands flow through Your hair. Moving closer A kiss we'll share Passionate love to be all night long We'll never break, as one too strong wow crying such poetry much better than sweet 16 Sleep on the floor on cardboard Stab out my heart like a dartboard So Adrienne is a crazy hobo woman who likes knifing dartboards. Genius.
Guest Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 maybe she is you never know Our romance Is a love trance And now we'll never part 1,000 hours Of such a love shower i wish billie joe's lyrics were still as good as this :'( I'm reading Sweet 16 and I just realised that there're only 12 lines in the entire bloody song. Bet that took him longer than a minute to write.
Spike Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 I'm reading Sweet 16 and I just realised that there're only 12 lines in the entire bloody song. Bet that took him longer than a minute to write. At least it's better than: Taking a ride to my old haunt She's in my blood, I reside in my Nightlife My favorite colour's candy apple, girl And she resides in my mind and my nightlife And: Hope there's more in your pants than a bus route
Guest Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 At least it's better than: Taking a ride to my old haunt She's in my blood, I reside in my Nightlife My favorite colour's candy apple, girl And she resides in my mind and my nightlife And: Hope there's more in your pants than a bus route At least it makes some kind of sense and isn't Josef Fritzl's theme song
Spike Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 Josef Fritzl's theme song Daddy's little bundle of joy Out of a magazine Everyone's drama queen Is old enough to bleed now
munns6691 Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 Nailed it Both songs are repetative Sweet 16>>>>1,000 hours
Guest Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 are you really defending nightlife over sweet 16 right now No they're both shite. But for different reasons. Daddy's little bundle of joy Out of a magazine Everyone's drama queen Is old enough to bleed now The fact that he had 4 years to rewrite that and didn't says a lot.
