Guest Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 people think tight wad hill is bad song?! Up until a year ago I thought it was the worst song GD had ever released
Anaïs. Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Up until a year ago I thought it was the worst song GD had ever released Meh, it still beats "Know Your Enemy".
Guest Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Meh, it still beats "Know Your Enemy". At least KYE has it's uses as a live song.
walking_c0ntradicti0n Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 > Stuck With Me > Stuart & The Ave > 86 > Sassafras Roots > 16 > Emenius Sleepus > In The End Need I continue? i think you forgot No One Knows, JAR, i think Panic Song, and MAYBE 2000 light years away
Spike Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 i think you forgot No One Knows, JAR, i think Panic Song, and MAYBE 2000 light years away No maybe about it! It's reasonably simple in comparison with some of the others listed, but it's still got a bass solo. I think Tight Wad Hill suffers because it's on Insomniac. The standard of a song has to be damn high to work on that record. Listened to in isolation it seems a lot better.
Guest Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 i think you forgot No One Knows, JAR, i think Panic Song, and MAYBE 2000 light years away The first two were ones I had filed under "Need I continue?" Panic Song is just Mike sitting on the same note, and 2000LYA just has a Mike playing the main riff before the solo. She is also incredible.

Panic Song is two minutes of "How the fuck does he have so much wrist stamina, oh my god I bet he's good at wanking." She is brilliant, the bridge is one of the most underrated bits of bass playing in the history of Mike. But the real burning question... How the fuck did you get your username fixed?

Mike's had wrist surgery like 3 times Andres is my bitch. Duh.

Guest Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Meet this: Didn't you already post this like 5 pages back? Not that I'm complaining at all (fap fap fap)
Spike Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Mike's had wrist surgery like 3 times Andres is my bitch. Duh. No wonder Takes a big sacrifice to be the motherfuckin' best. Meet this: Been there, seen that, bought the bass Not that I really get the fuss over that video, it shows a different side to him but he's played far better stuff on record anyway.
The Disappearing Boy Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Didn't you already post this like 5 pages back? Not that I'm complaining at all (fap fap fap) Yep! No wonder Takes a big sacrifice to be the motherfuckin' best. Been there, seen that, bought the bass Not that I really get the fuss over that video, it shows a different side to him but he's played far better stuff on record anyway. It shows a side that I wasn't aware he had - and a side which needs to come out more in their records!
Spike Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 It shows a side that I wasn't aware he had - and a side which needs to come out more in their records! Well yeah, absolutely. It's a shame he hasn't had much opportunity in 20+ years to show that off!
munns6691 Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Well yeah, absolutely. It's a shame he hasn't had much opportunity in 20+ years to show that off! Assuming you mean the slap stick thing, where would that ever fit into a song? Sounds like Primus. The worst song I thought Green Day made (Before Uno-Dos-Tre) would have to be Rest I think, or something off that record. Tight Wad Hill isn't great but it's not their worst.
Spike Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Assuming you mean the slap stick thing, where would that ever fit into a song? Sounds like Primus. That's what I mean, it wouldn't fit into anything they've done so far. It could work somewhere at some point though, it doesn't have to sound like Primus. Those crazy quick fills in Dirty Rotten Bastards would work slapped. It actually really surprises me that he hasn't done it at least once, given how bass-orientated a lot of their songs are.

Spike Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 16 And we all know how creative and virtuosic that bassline is.
Spike Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Would it be considered 'unpopular' to think that dropping 21st Century Breakdown from the set is one of the worst decisions the band have ever made?
Iva Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Those of us who missed that entire tour for unlucky timing and family issues say +1. I'd love to hear that song...and The Static Age.

Tubbie Head Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 I found The Static Age pretty boring live to be honest, and it's one of my favourite songs on the album! Surprisingly Static Age was one of my favourites live, along with 21 Guns. I'm not sure why, but it made me like the song more after experiencing it live.

No, writing KYE and Oh Love were the worst decisions the band ever made, let alone making them lead singles! Though dropping Breakdown was a bad move too. Oh and the sax solo on Static Age live is fantastic.
