Spike Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 If we're going to count Cuatro surely it should be referred to as the Cuatrilogy.
Guest Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 If we're going to count Cuatro surely it should be referred to as the Cuatrilogy. I still prefer "Two Hour Tambourine Solo, in Three Parts"
Hermione Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 I don't really like calling it the Trilogy either (even though I usually do) because it's such a boring and serious name that doesn't do justice to the fun and cool album titles the band chose. At times I've just referred to it as Uno Dos Tre because of that, might stick to that in future If we're going to count Cuatro surely it should be referred to as the Cuatrilogy. Now that I'd be happy with
Spike Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 I still prefer "Two Hour Tambourine Solo, in Three Parts" Me too
Certified Nimrod Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 I just don't get Let Yourself Go. The verse are about absolute hatred for someone, but the chorus is let yourself go, which has no connection to the meaning of the verses. Musically it's good, very typical green day, but the chorus (and outro) let it down. I always thought of the chorus as telling the person he hates to "let themself go," or stop putting themself on a pedestal.
Hermione Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 I always thought of the chorus as telling the person he hates to "let themself go," or stop putting themself on a pedestal. Ahh I'd never thought of it that way! I like it.
PleasedToMeetMe Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 I always thought of the chorus as telling the person he hates to "let themself go," or stop putting themself on a pedestal. Exactly what I've always thought. The person talks too much, always repeating the same stories and is getting on Billie's "every last nerve". He's saying "let your hair down, stop being a douchebag and just learn to have fun and stop being an annoying twat. Let yourself go".
Spike Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 Does anyone else think Billie's voice sounds really weak on Waiting?
Guest Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 I'm starting to like "Makeout Party" for the same reason I like "Nightlife." Aka the bass. WHY can't Green Day showcase Mike's talent in some songs that are actually good?! > Stuck With Me > Stuart & The Ave > 86 > Sassafras Roots > 16 > Emenius Sleepus > In The End Need I continue?
Spike Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 > Stuck With Me > Stuart & The Ave > 86 > Sassafras Roots > 16 > Emenius Sleepus > In The End Need I continue? Came here to post this! Also Basket Case, Welcome To Paradise, Geek Stink Breath, the live Knowledge jam...
Guest Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 I meant in their new stuff DRB, Nuclear Family... oh wait that's it.
Guest Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 Stay The Night... Ehhhh. It's okay. Wouldn't say it's outstanding in terms of bass. Then again, it's been months since I listened to the Trilogy. Probably around Brixton, actually
Spike Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 Ehhhh. It's okay. Wouldn't say it's outstanding in terms of bass. It works in its favour that it was clearly written the week Mike learned to play harmonics
Jollyroger118 Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 I actually think the bass on the trilogy is more outstanding than its been in the past but my unpopular opinion is that I have a hard time hearing the bass on most of their songs. I know it's there and if I try I can usually find it but I think Mike gets drowned out by the loud guitars. I like The Strokes production, if you ever listened to them you can literally hear every instrument going off separately yet at the same time. So I wish Green Day would turn up the bass
SeeYouTonight Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 there are a lot of purists on this page.

70 Times 7 Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 Rocky should be promoted to lead singer. I fucking love that dog He should sing on the next album I'll pay them to do that
munns6691 Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 Does anyone else think Billie's voice sounds really weak on Waiting? Live or Album?
Z J Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 Really loving The Grouch lately. I love the part when the bass enters after he says "shitty old man". No idea why. Lyrics are humorous as well.
JOE THE X-KID Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 I meant in their new stuff I actually really like the bass line on Missing you. Yea it's not complicated but it's sexy....

So I wish Green Day would turn up the bass That's certainly true on a lot of the newer stuff. Then again, it's not like he's doing much anyway. On Insomniac the bass is too loud, but it's basically the lead instrument so I guess that makes more sense. Live or Album? Album. Just sounds a bit strained.
SeeYouTonight Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 Purists? people who believe one thing (such as punk) is someone who expects everything to be exactly like the thing they like; doesn't believe in watered-down versions of such things (credits to urban dictionary, I suck at wording these things)

I haven't even seen theanswer in here yet...
