DookieLukie Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 I take it all back. 21st Century Breakdown is epic.
DookieLukie Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Yeah....I've found an appreciation for it.
Guest Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 to add another twist to the book: i also now like 21st CBD. i used to rank it bottom, before 1039 & kerplunk but now it's close to the top.
Spike Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Who the hell doesn't like 21st Century Breakdown? Take the 3 or 4 weakest songs off it and it's absolutely fucking amazing.
Guest Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 i didn't like it from like, a month after it came out until like 2 weeks ago.

Guest Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 At least you've seen the error of your ways! I guess Dos really put into perspective how good 21st Century Breakdown is ahahahAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHA no. Dos is still fabulous, top 5 for me where-as 21st is top 8.
DookieLukie Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Deets, you can't just leave us hanging like that m8 Idk...I've just been listening to it more and realizing how epic and well-written it is. Not as good as AI but still good. I think after the Trilogy, we as fans are craving more mature music from Green Day. I think another rock opera or at least something complex would hit the spot for me as their next release.
The Disappearing Boy Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 It isn't my favourite album, although it probably is their best. If that makes sense.
Carrot Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 21st century breakdown (minus 21 guns) is an amazing album.
fromdecimateddreams Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 I think if Green Day had released the Trilogy in 2009 and 21CBD in 2012, people would have considered 21CBD to be as good as American Idiot. Yeah, definitely. I love 21stCB to pieces but I don't think they should have done another concept album directly after the success of American Idiot.

WhiteTim Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 I loved 21st as soon I got it the day it came out top 3 for sure imo
Anaïs. Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 I feel like this thread has lost half its purpose now. What are we going to argue about?!
JOE THE X-KID Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 I want their next album to be more depressing. More songs like x-kid and Rusty james

BILLIE JOE'S SOCKS ARE A SILLY COLOUR I want their next album to be more depressing. More songs like x-kid and Rusty james I find the Trilogy's existence to be pretty depressing.

Cath Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 the great thing is a have no high expectations for the next album. i mean i like the trilogy but i barely listen to it or on shuffle i skip most of the songs
JOE THE X-KID Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 I actually listen to the trilogy all the time
XKid93 Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Ohh here we go. 1) Take Back is one of the best songs on Nimrod. Love that simple, powerful riff & the raw guitar tone. I don't know why Platypus is seen as the "angry" Green Day song, I mean, the music actually sounds upbeat in places. It's like, a fun song to take the piss out of all the really outrageous thoughts you concoct when you're annoyed, while Take Back is the real shit. It IS anger, not poking fun at it. 2) Green Day plays pop music. Call it rock, call it punk, call it alternative, but "pop" needs to proceed those genres. The guys themselves I believe are true punk rock n' rollers, but the music they make (in general) has a bigger pop influence than that's usually credited. I always listen to it when I had an argument with somebody....
Guest Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 I actually listen to the trilogy all the time I can't even remember the last time I listened to a song from the Trilogy. I always listen to it when I had an argument with somebody.... Way to dig up a post from almost a year ago
XKid93 Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 I don't really get the point why so many people don't like the triology.... Especially Uno is totally underrated
Guest Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 I don't really get the point why so many people don't like the triology.... Especially Uno is totally underrated Most people rate it about 2.5-3/5. It's a fairly average album, especially by Green Day's standards. If you could add something to your opinion it would be helpful
