Guest Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 so power head in through door sell saying allah uses me Furs I'll demand to spend fivers on in sales
Spike Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 Is it wrong of me to be annoyed than someone told me their favourite album is International Superhits? Because it's not really an album, is it? Even for a greatest hits it's got a very unimaginative track listing. Same with Shenanigans, but I can understand that more because at least none of the songs on that had had proper album releases. But then, the same is true of 1039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours. Which coincidentally holds the record for the most fucking retarded album title ever. Furs I'll demand to spend fivers on in sales And thin I'll watch a bleep
Hermione Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 I like Jason White but I think Green Day should still just be Billie Joe, Mike, and Tre. But now that he's officially a member of Green Day (or maybe he's just "Jason who's been with them since 1999) it is sad that he had to make his official career debut on probably the most disappointing project by the band. I think the band just got a bit unlucky this time around. Their transition from their 30's to their 40's hasn't been the smoothest and we might have noticed that on their latest work. But then again, ageing is a process all artists have to go through and the band will need to make all the right moves from now on if they are to permanently mark their place in the history of music as truly one of the greatest Rock N' Roll bands to have ever lived. Hopefully, ending the tour pre-maturely was the right thing to do. The band's never used the word "official" to describe him and has never made any kind of announcement about it though. They're being totally laid back about it, not labeling him as anything and just letting his role in the band naturally evolve instead. I don't think there's any need for us to worry or feel sad about it when there's nothing to indicate that the band or Jason are anything but perfectly happy just getting on with doing what they do without making a fuss as always.
Princess Consuela Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 You guys remind me of the misheard lyrics thread. It was hilarious.

Spike Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 get an oil array Givenchy dominoes Unpopular opinion: American Idiot is a pretty shitty title, really.
munns6691 Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 Shenanigans is just a load of b-sides and covers shoved together, it's never gonna be as good as a real album because it's not the same thing. I don't dislike it but it's definitely my least favourite album for his voice. It's weird that it's so different....I always wonder if it was due to how chipped his teeth were at the time It'll just be that they had the lyrics printed before the final recordings of the songs were done. It's the same with the Dookie booklet, there's various differences from the actual lyrics on the album because it was made in advance. A few on Nimrod too. And when they posted all the 21st CB lyrics online only 6 weeks before the album was out there were loads of differences between that and the album and booklet when it came out, they made a huge amount of changes in that short time. With Uno Dos and Tre's songs being more spontaneous it makes sense that they'd be more spontaneous with varying the lyrics when recording them so there'd be even more differences. Where can I find these loads of differences? The 21st CB (song) demo is great! Givenchy dominoes Unpopular opinion: American Idiot is a pretty shitty title, really. What would you call the album?
Spike Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 Where can I find these loads of differences? The 21st CB (song) demo is great! What would you call the album? I don't know really. I mean, I do appreciate the simplicity of it. But it just sounds kind of reductive and immature, if you see what I mean?

I like Jason! And when he does get 'officially' announced as part of the band, I hope it'll be during a great, great time for the band. The trilogy is really the first of Green Day albums recorded with two distinct guitarists though so Jason's contribution in this era is a significant one - (although Jason isn't exactly adding any big or new guitar sounds to the group, you can distinguish his sound from Billie's sound on most of the songs on the trilogy - eg. "Missing You"). I'd prefer they not make a fuss over whether he's part of the band or not just like you said. I am mostly impressed by Jason's attitude towards becoming a regular performer on the stage. He has a fantastic attitude. If anyone's going to become the 4th Green Day member it can only be him and no one else. He and the band deserve a better era than the one that has just passed.

The 21st CB (song) demo is great! There was a site where they posted all the lyrics a few weeks before the album came out, I think it's gone now though unfortunately. It wasn't anything as different as the 21st CB demo vs the 21st CB album version, but there were just lots of minor differences.I like Jason! My point is I don't think they'll ever "officially" announce him or make a thing out of it in any way because that's not his style. In his case it doesn't matter so much how successful the era that he came more to the forefront in was because he doesn't seem to be at all bothered about that kind of thing.
munns6691 Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 I was really hoping "Olivia" would be included somewhere in the Trilogy, because I'm a sentimental hack and I just loved the way it sounded when he sang it during that concert. Hopefully we'll get it on their next album?? And Dreamcatcher
Spike Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Call me a terrible fan but where can I hear Dreamcatcher or Olivia?
SmoothedOut Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Call me a terrible fan but where can I hear Dreamcatcher or Olivia? There are only little footages of the band playing those songs. Here's Oh Girl and Dreamcatcher: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bMSNwRTAhkA And here's Olivia: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynPpQ5mfXSY

JOE THE X-KID Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 But Oh girl is a cover, right ? Im pretty sure its not a cover. Awesome song though, reminds me of Warning
Oxymore Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Cause many songs are called Oh girl and I'm not patient enough to listen to all of them and compare after that with the song he sang in that vid. It'd be great if they'd make something with songs who never had been fully completed. Just a buch of little songs with dirty sound.
