Not really their style. They're a punk/pop-rock band. Not James Blunt or Jack Johnson. I'd rather rock out to Green Day than listen to lullaby music from them. That's who they are: a fast rock band.

they have a fairly large number of slow songs. And stripping down songs isn't uncommon for rock bands.

Meaning if Nirvana could sound great acousticly I have no reason to believe Green Day wouldn't sound just as good as well

I'd even go so far as to say Green Day would do it better than Nirvana. Their songwriting is so much more classic in style than Nirvana's, their existing songs could work in almost any style due to great melodies and strong chord progressions. Look what an amazing job Alanis did with Basket Case, then imagine how good a song by Green Day would be in that style if it was MEANT to sound like that in the first place.

I can't say an acoustic style album would interest me, but it'd definitely be really good.

Hitchin' A Ride and King For A Day are overrated.

All I ever see is people saying they're sick of King For A Day, I wouldn't say it's overrated. Although I happen to think it's so fabulous that it could never be rated highly enough

King for a Day is not a bad song at all, people just don't like it because it lasts 10 minutes live. I sort of dig the Ska-Punk vibe it has. It's one of the only areas of punk Green Day never really explored.

King For A Day is actually better live. It's just kind of silly and jarring on the record, it's fun live, which is what it's all about.

I agree about Hitchin' A Ride, it's not that good really. I think the production lets it down. It does have one of the best Green Day solos ever though, and the lyrics are really good.
