Unpopular Green Day Opinions

He definitely seems like quite a complex guy. Not that the other don't, but Billie and Mike seem to wear their hearts on their sleeves. And I don't think we'll ever understand Jason :P

Jason's just a bit of a non-entity.

jason likes cats right? that's about all i know about him

What more do you want? He reminds me of a cat actually.....

Non-entity? Please :P. He's a fantastic musician and songwriter and too cool for school.

I still don't know how to feel about Jason being an official member. I mean, he's a brilliant guitarist, and I understood him being very kind of in the background in live shows, since he was essentially a session musician. But now he's an official member, he seems to be very overshadowed by the other three. I guess that's natural since they've been together forever and have their own dynamic, but it's not like there's no room for Jason there. I for one hope we get to see more of his personality from now on, he does come across as very quiet and shy, and kind of odd really, but I'm sure there's more to him than that.

Why see it as "official" or "unofficial"? The band have never even used the word official to describe him and have never made a special announcement about it. His role in the band has just natural progressed and become bigger over the years and I think it's fine the way it is, his role isn't exactly the same as the other three but it works for them. I think it only starts to become problematic if you label him "official", start expecting his role to be the same as a result, and worry that it isn't. The band haven't done that so there's no reason for us to imo, they're not fretting over it and we don't need to either.

Fair point, but I thought they did make an announcement? Or was it just a case of adding him to the album credits? I mean, whatever happens, it's cool, it just seems like a bit of a strange dynamic at this point. I'm assuming he'll join them for interviews etc from now on (or maybe not?!) and it's strange to see 3 such strong personalities and then him. But whatever, I'm clearly over thinking it and it's not like it actually matters :P

He takes his drumming and his band seriously, that's the most important thing and the only thing that's really our business. And you can see from more in depth interviews that he's intelligent, kind and thoughtful too, he has a funny/wacky/attention seeking character but it's clear there's more to him than that. But without knowing him and being a psychologist I don't think we can really give him much of a psychological analysis!

Nah we're Green Day fans. We know everything about the band. Please don't question what we know to be facts.

Yeah pretty much, he's credited with the other three on the albums since he played on them and in the photos in the booklet, and they've casually referred to him as a fourth member and stuff. But there's not been any official announcement or anything, it's not black and white "he was an unofficial member and now he's an official 100% equal member". I think it's a just a natural progression.

I kind of get annoyed by the Uno dos tre thing, I don't know why it just seems inconsistent to me because it basically says one two Tre, I know it's a joke but it just irritates me how every album has a grand kind of title such as "Insomniac" or "21st century breakdown" amd theres just one two tre. know I'm probably just being over the top but I feel it ruins the consistency of all of their albums

"Dookie" "Nimrod" and "Kerplunk" aren't particularly grand titles :P. I think the titles Uno Dos and Tre fit in fine with the band's great sense of humour and willingness not to take themselves too seriously to be a bit silly and have a joke from time to time.

No I mean, well I can't really explain. All of their past albums make grammatical sense and have lots of effort put into the booklets and artwork. then there's the trilogy with spelling mistakes in the booklet and fairly lazy artwork (even though I like the artwork)

Inspired by my recent status, I'm probably in the minority in believing that Panic Song is one of the best Green Day songs there is.

I think that too.

And for me, Insomniac is one of the best albums: rage, anguish and anxiety described in perfect words. I love it.

It makes grammatical sense in regards to the joke though, it's not a mistake it's a deliberate play on words. I think the artwork of the trilogy fits the albums the same way the artwork of their other albums fits those albums (it's simple, spontaneous, retro looking, fun, and at times in your face/gaudy just as the songs and lyrics are). Different artwork and titles work for different albums.

I agree I honestly hate the titles Uno Dos and Tre

Put Dirty Rotten Bastards on uno and have the three albums be called

Dirty Rotten Bastards, Wild One, and 8th Avenue Serenade

that would be way to long, still prefer the original

and drb isn't on uno

Thats why I said put. But they could have had nifty one word titles just not uno dos tre. No creativity no fun

I honestly don't give a shit what it's called. If it sounds good, I like it.

Because using song titles is much more creative than coming up with a set of album titles that go together? And more fun than a set of titles that's a funny little joke/play on words and also celebrates each member of the band? I'd say it's their most creative and fun album titles yet, certainly the most for a long time since they've just been using song titles for the last decade or so.

An attractive, charismatic, talented rock star who writes music we love, and gets on stage covered in sweat in sexy clothes, commanding the crowd, thrusting his hips and teasing everyone, rocking out and acting like a total badass, and singing sweetly and passionately. Nope, no idea why anyone would want to have sex with him.
