olstjimmy Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 Just the excessive swearing ruins it for me. I'm all for a bit of foulmouthed abuse, as you'll learn, but it just ruins that song. I actually prefer the clean version. Yeah. Yeh. I really like... ALL of 'Kill the DJ' music and lyrics... UNTIL you get the chorus... I find it slightly jarring. It's also why I don't like 'Fuck Time.' It's like... I get it... But I've heard better songs about wanting to screw people that didn't have to be crude. I like swearing, I think it's a great part of language, but overuse makes me feel like people are doing it to for the point of BEING edgy, rather than to write a song (also applies to poetry). Fuck, I've heard some harder music that didn't need that many swear words.

olstjimmy Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 Go listen to Fire by Jimi Hendrix. Tell me it isn't Fuck Time, except classier, and just generally better. Man no, I totally agree. I love Jimi. I know. I didn't reference one song when commenting that there are better songs than 'Fuck Time' about sex... Because THERE ARE TOO MANY TO NAME.

olstjimmy Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 I just thought of it because the guitar riffs are basically the same, as is the subject material Well... everything is a rip of a rip as they say these days... BUT YES. IT'S SO TRUE. IT ALMOST MAKES ME WANT TO ANGRILY WRITE IN CAPS. Oh... wait...
Guest Trotsky Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 I think i'm the only one who likes Billie's voice the way it is right now? I think it sounds amazing! No, you're not the only one for sure... Billie's voice is beatiful. I don't care if he hits all the notes. His voice always makes me happy and that's matter for me. I love the intro of Extraordinary Girl . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LTZ4XL3bG80 This version of the intro is amazing too.

Z J Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Upon watching more videos of their performances, Rock Am Ring was probably the worst out of this year's tour. The cell phone videos are obviously lacking quality but they are better for the most part for BJA. Although he is still far off from his 21 CB days. Only reason I really bring up his voice is because I sincerely hope he's got something left in the tank. We'll see at Reading now won't we.
doworkson123123 Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 The amount of Green Day shit talking in this thread is uncanny.
Guest Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 The amount of Green Day shit talking in this thread is uncanny. "Unpopular Opinions" thread man. This isn't the "WORSHIP GREEN DAY BECAUSE EVERY BROWN POOP THAT FALLS FROM THEIR ARSE IS PERFECT" thread.
belinda jane Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 The amount of Green Day shit talking in this thread is uncanny. not everyone is bias about their favourite band.
Z J Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 If you're not honest about the fact that Green Day isn't perfect, then you're just a fangirl. I love them and they're one of my favorite bands, but it's not like they can do no wrong. (I'm looking at you, Nightlife)

Bastard of 1969 Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 You can be a fangirl and accept their flaws. I aldready accepted it
musso_kn Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 I aldready accepted it So have I. I just wanted to make the point to him that a 'fangirl' isn't necessarily a naive individual.
Z J Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 You can be a fangirl and accept their flaws. I guess it'd depend on your definition of fangirl. If you don't just blindly worship everything they do then I don't really consider you a fangirl (Unless you want to be called that of course ) EXCUSE ME? Oh, I just realized you're talking about the song, not about me personally haha sorry forgot about that
timbojones Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Is it an unpopular opinion to beleive 39 smooth is far superior to kerplunk (minus the drumming)?
doworkson123123 Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 "Unpopular Opinions" thread man. This isn't the "WORSHIP GREEN DAY BECAUSE EVERY BROWN POOP THAT FALLS FROM THEIR ARSE IS PERFECT" thread. You misunderstand. By no means do I think Green Day is the best band in history and that anything they do is automatically good. Heres the thing though- generally, on a green day fansite, you dont see so much shit talk about the band everyone is here to discuss. Please dont just assume that I am bias and will buy into anything Green day does. not everyone is bias about their favourite band. So you automatically assume that im bias? Because i simply stated an observation? Wow.
R_Z-Log Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 "Unpopular Opinions" thread man. This isn't the "WORSHIP GREEN DAY BECAUSE EVERY BROWN POOP THAT FALLS FROM THEIR ARSE IS PERFECT" thread. Welp, I think I just found my next topic starter!
armatage Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Little Boy Named Train is such a useless song. It doesn't tell any story and feels purely as a filler song that doesn't even make it to filler song standards. You know, the ones that are supposed to be meaningless yet catchy? Yeah, that song doesn't even make the cut.

Yeah, that song doesn't even make the cut. I don't think is meaningless. Actually I think that it has deep meaning but is hard for us to fully understand it... Only Billie can explain it, though... It's very personal song for Billie as he said in the post-rehab interview in Rolling Stone magazine.

armatage Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 But....but.....it's one of my favourites from Tre To each their own. I agree with you mate. I know Billie said it's all about him, deep soulfulness, blah blah blah but I'm sorry, musically it's just boring and honestly the lyrics have not and will never stick in my head. I don't think is meaningless. Actually I think that it has deep meaning but is hard for us to fully understand it... Only Billie can explain it, though... It's very personal song for Billie as he said in the post-rehab interview in Rolling Stone magazine. I haven't read that interview in full (whoops). Anyway, the song had very generic phrases and words that just don't point at anything really deep. Maybe that's how Billie Joe wanted to play it - making the song seem superficial. But this is where it gets stuck, cause the song just simply ends up, well, being superficial to me. The more I listen to Tre, the more annoying this song gets. As for now, I don't see it growing on me.
