belinda jane Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Insomniac is my favorite album I love every song on it, but Armatage Shanks and Brat are my favorite GD songs from their discography...I guess that might be an unpopular opinion i really love insomniac too!! almost as much as nimrod
UNICORN VOMIT Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 i really love insomniac too!! almost as much as nimrod Ha where's Ceadog now
Iva Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Easily in my top 10 GD songs. Such a headbopper, and perfect for when you're feeling frustrated. That makes three of us. My favourite on that album, next to Stuart and the Ave.
SmoothedOut Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 i don't know, to me, the more live-sounding their records are, the better. playing live is obviously when they're at their best. True. However, I just don't want it to get to the point where Billie's composing lyrics out of things he'd normally say live. Not gonna give examples of how it'd sound like. I'm sure it's unlikely to happen and the band wouldn't be that stupid but if the negative reviews were to be believed, the trilogy might have showed signs of ageing in the band and the thus resulting in the negative reviews. Then again I don't think they'd be that stupid to succumb to their new-found love for entertaining the crowd to the to the point they change things up a little too much. I don't know.
Iva Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Why are you under the impression that he's doing it?
scatteredminority Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 I actually think Tight Wad Hill is a great song.
The Grouch is Tracy Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Fuck Time is a grower... LOL Not a show-er! I agree
musso_kn Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 LOL Not a show-er! I agree Whoops, I didn't see that one coming.
Iva Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 For me it's always a toss-up between Stuart and the Ave. and Bab's Uvula Who? Stuart and the Ave. is probably the most epic break-up song of all time The dominant line is what makes it applicable to many other situations. Either way, really, two outstanding songs. And for us who had (and still have) the album on a cassette, it's fun how one's on side 1 and the other on side 2, for the right dose of awesome.
Z J Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 True. However, I just don't want it to get to the point where Billie's composing lyrics out of things he'd normally say live. This is not a "new-found love" you can find video of BJA interacting with the crowd since Dookie. During Nimrod tour they started doing a lot more of it and the AI tour was where it reached its current state. That was almost 10 years ago. I think you're worrying yourself over something very odd.
munns6691 Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Not a fan of fuck time and brain stew i'll listen to 3, maybe 4 times a year

During Nimrod tour they started doing a lot more of it and the AI tour was where it reached its current state. That was almost 10 years ago. I think you're worrying yourself over something very odd. I didn't say they never interacted with the crowd. I'm emphasizing what they've been doing recently and how they've been doing it more than they ever have. And by "new-found love" I mean the more prominent stuff we see during their shows nowadays. To be as blunt as possible with my statement, I see some bad elements in their live shows that reflect the quality and end-product of the trilogy. Whether people like the way they sound live, or whether people like the trilogy or not - it's all up to the listener. I'm having trouble explaining this because I don't want to say I don't like the trilogy at all. But there are indeed some aspects of the trilogy I don't like and I'm just questioning their approach to their live shows as a probable reason. It may sound odd to those who see no flaw in the live shows, and love the trilogy to death. But as long as people are disagreeing with me then I guess I'll still have the unpopular opinion.
Anaïs. Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 The solo I remember watching the first trailer for Dos, hearing the solo, and thinking "It's all gonna be okay." I was a disappointed with the resulting three albums, but the solo always makes my day.

Why shouldn't people be excited for a concert? Seems really fuckin' dumb to me. Also I hate the fangirls, agree with you there. But every fandom has them, can't really avoid them.

fromdecimateddreams Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 What I think she meant by the concert thing is that some people have seen the band countless times and tend to be a bit obnoxious about it sometimes when they brag about it, which kinda sucks for the people who haven't seen them that many times or at all. I get that that can be kind of annoying, but people have the right to be excited about it. and every fandom has annoying people in it, it's kind of silly to let it bother you. Being a fan is about having fun and enjoying the thing, and it's kind of sad that sometimes people let 'annoying fangirls' or whatever ruin it for them.

Iva Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 I think all of this is related to a couple of super-crazy people who were near both Ilaria and me in Locarno and everybody whose minds work in a similar way - as in, they work enough for them not to poop around the concert venue like birds. There was somebody yelling BILLYE (with the LY instead of L, yup), BILLYE, BILLYE for 30 minutes before the show started. That was just hysterical, as if waiting for 12 hours outside wasn't tiring enough and the fact that humidity was high and rain was starting.
IlariaIDIOT Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 I would have punched in the face those girls. "Billie where are you, Im ready!" Ready for go away, I HOPE
