The Grouch is Tracy Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 I do not like when bands wear their own themed or brand clothes. There you go.

Sarasaurus Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 I don't like 'Wake me up when September ends', or Nimrod. There, I said it.
musso_kn Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 I don't like 'Wake me up when September ends', or Nimrod. There, I said it. WMUWSE - I like it, but it took a lot of time to grow on me. It's a little bland. So I can see where you're coming from. But Nimrod? Why?

To be honest, I don't like a lot of Green Day's older stuff (now there's an unpopular opinion!). I just don't like the sound of it too much. I like a few old songs - Longview, Redundant, Minority, but the amount of songs I dislike outweighs the amount I do like. So I guess it stands that I don't like old Green Day. I LOVE Green Day's new stuff.
Slydren Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 While Nuclear Family was my favorite song from UNO. It would sound much better on DOS. Just the first two lines "Gonna ride the world like a merry go round" and "Like a Ferris wheel like it's breaking down," And the "theme" for DOS was "At the party"
armatage Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Not sure how unpopular this is, but enjoy the political aspects of AI and 21st CB immensely.
Jason Fox Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Not sure how unpopular this is, but enjoy the political aspects of AI and 21st CB immensely. Yeah, so do I. I thought that's what made them great. Going even more unpopular... I don't mind that they were two consecutive concept albums. That's pretty badass if you ask me.

That's pretty badass if you ask me. I would agree on that too. And I don't really have the problem of either seeing the records as stories or picking them apart song by song. Makes sense either way. I love both the political stuff on the albums and the more personal songs. But Green Day and the politically charged songs is what I go to listen to every time I get frustrated over politics. I mean, American Idiot, the song, taught me more about citizenship than the classes I had at school. And I'm not even American.

Yeah, that's exactly what I do too I think the concept behind those political notions is just brilliant, to say the least. It certainly got the American's attention when it came out.
BetterThanAir Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 The Awesome as Fuck version of Holiday is a billion times better than the Bullet in a Bible version.
Akshat Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Warning is the only Green Day album where Billie sounds American
Ham Pascale Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Kerplunk is only Green Day's pre-Dookie album that really worth listening.
musso_kn Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Kerplunk is only Green Day's pre-Dookie album that really worth listening. I would argue that 1039 is maybe slightly better. The songs are hookier, more energetic and the solos were divine. In fact, I think most if the Pre Dookie material might just be better better than Dookie and Insomniac.
Kerplunk!!! Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 1039 pisses all over kerplunk, Kerplunk is still a good album though!
C.H. Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 The drums on 1039 just sucks. Al Sobrante had no talent whatsoever.

Guest Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 No way. the drumming on 39/Smooth is all over the place, the album isn't tight, and Billie's lyrics & vocals are questionable on a lot of the songs imho. Also, there's no sense of coherence to the album as a whole. Kerplunk kicks the shit out of it. gif stealer omg. You snooze you lose Also, show me a punk drummer aged 15/16 who isn't sloppy as fuck.
