MaraGreenDay Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 1. Nightlife is a shitty song and I still don't even know who that annoying girl in the song is. I probably don't want to know though. That's not really an unpopular opinion, a lot of people hates Nightlife
BetterThanAir Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 That's not really an unpopular opinion, a lot of people hates Nightlife Oh, I didn't know that. I don't really read the boards but a lot of people on chat like it. Thanks, it's good to know I'm not alone on that.
Overjoyyed Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 They jumped the gun but he totally paused and allowed it to happen
Jollyroger118 Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 Roshambo is one of the best songs by the band ever, I love the like demonic shadow voices in the background and it gives it a really dark and cool feeling. I wish the Network had went that way more. Some of the songs are really cool like Transistors Gone Wild but some just suck. I get it's kinda a jokey side band but they had something cool going on
IlariaIDIOT Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 My love for the capella version will never be enough.
Duhhan1023 Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 I don't like the way Billie sings in Warning(album)
yuridookie Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 Let Yourself Go is lacking in many setlist of the tour
Iva Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 A lot of things in this thread don't make sense. (that's an unopopular opinion as the media has taught us that everybody is at our service )
Florence Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 I'm patiently waiting for a new The Network album in 2020 (or earlier) 1. Nightlife is a shitty song and I still don't even know who that annoying girl in the song is. I probably don't want to know though. You want TO KNOW Lady Cobra aka. Monica Painter, singer of the Mystic Knights Of The Cobra.
WhiteTim Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 Not sure if being sarcastic or not, but my 110% unsarcastic opinion is that Nightlife is awesome and anyone who doesn't like it just hasn't given it enough of a chance. No i loved Nightlife since the day I heard it Im never sarcastic when it comes to music

I was like "this is gonna be an awesome song" and it is
Anaïs. Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 "No Pride" or "Bab's Uvula Who?" should have been a single instead of "Stuck with Me".

99-revolutions Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 I hate it when pop punk bands sound like pop punk. The point I'm trying to make is that suffocate is very generic. I think what 99-Revolutions (don't know your name, sorry) meant is that it's a very typical type of pop-punk. Green Day's genre can be classified as pop punk, definitely, but every band (or almost every band) within any genre has their own style and spin on said genre, and needless to say, GD has their own specific style to the music they make. Maybe that person just thinks that Suffocate lacks in that "unique spin" of sorts and just sounds like a very typical, run-of-the-mill pop punk song. Yay someone gets me!
Certified Nimrod Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 I actually think the trilogy albums are my top three favorite green day albums. I like nightlife, kye, and horshors and handgrenades. Dookie has some filler on it. Only half the album is good. But the good half is amazing. I laughed harder than I should have. I just looked her up. It's nice to put a face to the voice, thank you. She's on the back of Dos.
BetterThanAir Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 I laughed harder than I should have. She's on the back of Dos. Oh, that's good to know, thank you. Dos is the only album I don't have a physical copy of.
Z J Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 The point I'm trying to make is that suffocate is very generic. I think it's pretty darn good for a B-side
musso_kn Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Because it's the example people always use when arguing about how Green Day have changed over the years, I wonder whether it would be such a bad thing if Billie Joe still wrote songs about masturbation. It's not exactly something you put an age limit on. Much.

It's not exactly something you put an age limit on. Much. I don't think it'd be a bad thing. Just a little strange, maybe, considering he has so many other things and experiences to write about and instead would choose that. Then again, he did write songs like Sweet 16 and Fell For You (which I love, but they feel like they could be something off of 39/Smooth given their tone and subject matter) at his age now, so I dunno. I feel like he might get a lot of flak for starting to write about masturbation again, though.

Yeah, he probably would get a lot of flak for it, but I don't see why it should be any harsher than the response he got for, say, Makeout Party, which I would argue is way more immature than a song like Longview. If the Trilogy is anything to go by, he still had that 'youthful side' alive and well inside him.
Slydren Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Insomniac was a good album, but way too angry. Still, very good album
Jollyroger118 Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 I think Fell For You is about a dream Billie had about Tre. It was title Fell For Snoo in Cuatro and I'm pretty sure "The Snoo" was Tre's alias in The Network. Just a theory...
Slydren Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 The Snoo was Tre's alias. And I think they were referencing The Network
