musso_kn Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 21st Century Breakdown was probably be biggest let down of an album from Green Day Have you listened to iUNO!? Or even the rest of trilogy for that matter?
Slydren Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Have you listened to iUNO!? Or even the rest of trilogy for that matter? I liked the Trilogy. Not as good as Nimrod or Insomniac, but it was good.
musso_kn Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 I liked the Trilogy. Not as good as Nimrod or Insomniac, but it was good. Meh, it's alright as whole, and some of the tracks are sensational but it's missing the impact of any previous Green Day album for me.
Slydren Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Meh, it's alright as whole, and some of the tracks are sensational but it's missing the impact of any previous Green Day album for me. True. Song placement wasn't the best in my opinion.
musso_kn Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 True. Song placement wasn't the best in my opinion. That, but there was also a lot of filler, unfortunately.
fromdecimateddreams Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 That, but there was also a lot of filler, unfortunately. Well, of course. Not every song on an album is going to be a hit, and with three entire albums, there's bound to be more filler than a regular album. I agree that there may have been a but too much, but if every track was some sort of sensational wonder then it might be a bit too much and set the bar way too high.

The bar way too high for what, though? Green Day can overcome their own standards. I'd rather have perfection or near perfection.
fromdecimateddreams Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 The bar way too high for what, though? Green Day can overcome their own standards. I'd rather have perfection or near perfection. For the future, I think. I mean, take Dookie or AI for example. Those are both amazing, sensational albums that set the bar pretty high for not only their career, but for other musicians, and I feel like a lot of people think 21stCB and the Trilogy are disappointing because of the success of AI or albums before it. It would have been great to have the Trilogy be totally over-the-top and awesome, but then that might leave something to be desired in the albums to come after that. I think GD (and any other band) needs a breather every once in a while from making hugely popular sensations. They had a great peak in the 90s, then Warning was kind of a commercial flop, then they came back with a vengeance when they released AI. I think that might happen with the Trilogy. Was making a three-album arc the best way to "take a breather"? Maybe not, but I think whatever they do next has potential to be fantastic for that reason.
Billy Spleen Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 There are more annoying Insomniac bummers than Dookie bummers and their attitude towards Insomniac is exactly the same as that of Avril Lavigne fans towards Under my Skin. It's a great album, regardless. Mike is the better singer. The only reason he shouldn't replace Billie Joe is that Billie has more on stage charisma. Um...no
Billy Spleen Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Old news, mate. Try again. I'm just beginning to read.... so ... yea
musso_kn Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 I'm just beginning to read.... so ... yea Kindly fuck off.
Tubbie Head Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 I don't consider any song as a filler, I never did. I think it's all about personal opinion. There are songs I might love and others despise or the opposite. But doesn't mean they have put it there just to fill the space. It's normal that not every song is a masterpiece... I think the trilogy is perfect <3 And it's songs sound awesome live, I really hope they'll fit more into the set in the future!
musso_kn Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Um...no then please tell me why you disagree with my original post?
