belinda jane Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 Take Back reeeaaallllyy turns me off of Nimrod in all honesty. There's WONDERFUL songs on there and then there's just this demonic voice saying "taaiiik baaaak" and it's just...probably my least favorite Green Day song hahaha take back is so funny. it sounds like he's trying to vomit when he says "buaaacccck". hilarious.
bagelfeet Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 hahaha take back is so funny. it sounds like he's trying to vomit when he says "buaaacccck". hilarious. it's pretty damn scary as well haha
Mar Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 I love Horseshoes and Hand grenades I never see anyone talk about this song WTF I'm not even joking the second I read this post, the song came on shuffle. Of all the gin joints in the world Anyway, I agree. I really love it, too. It's badass and angry without being obnoxiously so.
JOE THE X-KID Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 It seems to be unpopular to like Last of the American Girls. Idk, I think it's a nice little enjoyable song. I like the lyrics. i think its one of the best on 21stCB
IlariaIDIOT Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 They should do a 'Viva la gloria' only piano and vocals version, like the first part. It would be awesome

I'm not kidding, I could die happily so long as I first heard them do an album full of tracks where Billie Joe screams like that.
Iain Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 Is it an unpopular opinion to really like the artwork of the trilogy era? I dunno, I just really like it. It's nice and colorful (which is weird for me to like cause I normally prefer darker stuff) and I like the new logo and think the skulls are kind of cute. Not sure if this in unpopular or not, but I haven't seen many people comment on the matter, so I thought it might be. idk. I have grown to like it, but it's not the best design I've seen. The concept is cool, but the execution is poor. The colour choice and ideas are interesting, but some of the design is strange (where is the grid in all of this? Chris Bilheimer ≠ David Carson). It's pretty neat in some ways but it could have been much better.
WhiteTim Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 Nooooo. I'm not kidding, I could die happily so long as I first heard them do an album full of tracks where Billie Joe screams like that. That'd would literally be the WORST cd ever recorded in history
musso_kn Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 That'd would literally be the WORST cd ever recorded in history Let's agree to disagree on that, then.

Z J Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Stuart and the Ave is one of the best songs on Insomniac, great bass line unfortunate that I know more of the words to the song than BJA does
Ritz Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Joining the discussion pretty late but yes, Horseshoes and Handgrenades is fucking awesome. The tempo, the guitars and the rage that song enthuses is just great. I wish it was played live.
tdlyon Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 I guess this is an unpopular opinion. Take Back is fucking awesome. I wish it was longer, maybe with like an awesome metal guitar solo.
musso_kn Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Take Back is fucking awesome. I wish it was longer, maybe with like an awesome metal guitar solo. Yes to first sentence, NO to second. It's perfect the way it is. It's a short snappy 'hardcore' punk song. A metal solo would be superfluous.
Iva Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 hahaha take back is so funny. it sounds like he's trying to vomit when he says "buaaacccck". hilarious. Finally somebody who shares my sentiment about the end of the song. The way he pronounces "take" as TAIIK is funny, too.

fromdecimateddreams Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 I wish Too Much Too Soon was released as something more than a B-side. It's so catchy and upbeat and I bet it would have done pretty well as a single or something.

I think it would fit pretty well between Extraordinary Girl and Letterbomb if EG didn't fade into Letterbomb.
fromdecimateddreams Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 I think it would fit pretty well between Extraordinary Girl and Letterbomb if EG didn't fade into Letterbomb. Totally! And then they could have made it a single and it would have been fabulous and lkadjshfl I'm just really in love with that song, honestly.

cocoepops Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Solos aren't punx ur not punx shut it kidNah but seriously, I think St Jimmy is the best concept Green Day have ever created.
IlariaIDIOT Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 I love the musical versions' songs and I don't understand people who say "Billie voice is better blablabla" okay, we know that green day is green day but c'mon. Maybe I'm too musical addict but I think it's "weird" to judge a song only because there isnt bj's voice I wish Too Much Too Soon was released as something more than a B-side. It's so catchy and upbeat and I bet it would have done pretty well as a single or something. I agree. I wish they played it live too. I love that song!

A song is a song and it has potential to be amazing no matter who's performing it, even if we are a little biased towards the original artist. My school's chorus performed the Broadway version of 21 Guns a few years ago and it was totally awesome, despite it not actually being Green Day (obviously ). and omfg it would be such a kickass live song, I would love that
