Let's be real here. "I disagree. Oh Love was a great single." sounds like "I disagree, I actually think..." which I would 100% expect and REspect as a response to what I said. "How about no." sounds more like "Go away! I'm gonna stick my fingers in my ears until you stop hurting my feelings!" I think the "how about no" was meant playfully haha. If someone starts being nasty or actually being offended or calling people not real fans just because they post an unpopular/negative opinion then I'm with you, that's silly and uncalled for. But I think the disagreeing in this thread is lighthearted and civil for the most part. Civil enough, yes. Worse words could have been exchanged. It just seemed childish and, once again, unnecessary. Wow, I didn't know you'd take offense in what I wrote. I assumed your post wasn't too serious, considering nobody suggests a band should break up because they released a song you don't like, so my reply wasn't to be taken too serious either. But if you post in this thread you will have to expect critical replies and saying you want GD to quit trying on a GD forum without expecting people to jump on it is a bit naive, especially since your post can sound serious and you've stated some more negative stuff about the band as a whole before You said No, go away and let me be pissed about this No, seriously I think it's harsh to judge 3 albums based on one song and saying how they should quit already. I get that people might not like the trilogy but that's not necessarily GD's death sentence Sounds like 1. You thought I was serious and 2. You were pretty serious yourself. Did no one read the second part of my original post that said something along the lines of "I love them, but they can do better"? That's sort of what it feels like.

It used to be my favorite set of any of their tours but compared to the trilogy tour and even 21st it's boring and short. Also I think the setlists are going down again, the recent shows haven't had anything off Kerplunk, 39, or Insomniac. (Some at least) I mean cool, Waiting, NGFL, and Missing You but the start of the tour it was more diverse. The AI setlists were pretty boring. They played the same setlist at every show, very little variation. The shows were still amazing though, it didn't mean I enjoyed it any less. The 21CB tour had loads of variation, they would throw in surprises a lot, for example DLS at Wembley Stadium and some of the US shows had some real rareties played. The set flowed very nicely as well. I don't mind the set for this tour. But I think they should have picked some different songs from the Trilogy to play maybe. Carpe Diem, Let Yourself Go and Rusty James should be in there in my opinion. It's hard for them to choose what songs to play though. And their current demographic is made up of people who won't know much of the obscure stuff, so they have to try and keep everyone happy. Which is difficult when you have been around for as long as they have.

Z J Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 I don't agree that Jesus of Suburbia is their best song. I don't think it even gets to be in my top 5. I like it, it's okay, but I prefer many others over it. well to me, there is a difference between "best" song and "favorite" song. The way I see it is, J.A.R. is probably my favorite Green Day song (currently)....That will likely change depending on the mood I'm in or whatever. But Jesus of Suburbia is lyrically, instrumentally, and creatively their best song, in my opinion.

And the part you quoted wasn't even about what you said, that was a discussion between me and someone else, which yes then became more serious because what I said was to be taken more broadly about anybody who thinks that the trilogy might be GD's end. But what I said to you was supposed to be taken playfully, I assure you I had nothing bad in mind when I replied. But I can't change your mind if you're dead set on believing I was being rude to you and that you're more aware of my intentions when writing something then I am myself And I'd like this to be the end of this discussion, I am not here to quarrel with people over something that shouldn't be argued about in the first place.

As I said in another thread a while ago, when I first heard Oh Love play at work I was like "Why don't these guys just give up?" to a customer. Love 'em, but they could so do better. Or at least something more original... Seriously? First time I heard Oh LOve it was amazing.

I prefer the version from one of the secret shows better personally, but it's not nearly as bad as everyone's making it out to be. Not the best song to kickstart the bands return, but it's still a good song.

When I first started listening to Green Day I found that it was often very difficult for me to hear the lyrics, which kind of held me back from understanding how awesome their music was.
