Chelsee Angevine Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 Haha I like you! Right back at you, sister!
Hermione Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 jfc maybe this is an unpopular opinion but here goes: People are allowed to dislike the stuff Green Day does (that's the whole point of this thread). People are also allowed to express their dislike in whatever way they want, it does not make them less of a fan. The end. The other point of this thread is to discuss the unpopular opinions that people post. It would be pretty boring if everyone just posted them with no disagreement or discussion. Just because someone disagrees with another person's opinion it doesn't mean they're offended, that they don't think it should've been expressed, or that they think of the person as less of a fan.

But when someone doesn't just disagree, they say something rude like "How about no." or simply say they don't like the way you stated your opinion, and then everyone harps on it like a bunch of vultures, it kind of discourages people from posting something different from the mob mentality. Ironically the opposite of what Green Day's all about.

Ironically the opposite of what Green Day's all about. I think the "how about no" was meant playfully haha. If someone starts being nasty or actually being offended or calling people not real fans just because they post an unpopular/negative opinion then I'm with you, that's silly and uncalled for. But I think the disagreeing in this thread is lighthearted and civil for the most part.
The Grouch is Tracy Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 Yes they do. Everything they do, they do for me. They sent me Oh Love in a cassette last summer and I sent is back with RUBBISH written on the cover and I ripped out all the tape. The motherfuckers released it anyway and fired me. I'm just so bitter that I have to come on sites like this upset all the fans who like Oh Love. And on a final note for me, I love Oh Love. That was MERELY the first listen's reply. A short story. The end. Funny, the same thing happened to me! Ha ha..... Great post, very cutting sense of humour!

Ironically the opposite of what Green Day's all about. Wow, I didn't know you'd take offense in what I wrote. I assumed your post wasn't too serious, considering nobody suggests a band should break up because they released a song you don't like, so my reply wasn't to be taken too serious either. But if you post in this thread you will have to expect critical replies and saying you want GD to quit trying on a GD forum without expecting people to jump on it is a bit naive, especially since your post can sound serious and you've stated some more negative stuff about the band as a whole before
Eva Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 It's just that I've had people explicitly tell me (or others) that we aren't real fans for x, y, z reasons so it's happened and I just was fed up with it I agree. A ton of people call punk rockers elitists, but let me tell y'all this: I have been called "not a real fan" of Green Day more than I've ever been called a poser or "not a real fan" of any punk band. Y'all are vicious elitists. (please don't hurt me)
DookieLukie Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 wtf they do music for themselves not for you. Yeah but they DO make it for us too. The Trilogy was for the fans. And although musicians make music to be happy, they also have to keep their fans in mind so they can keep making music.
kilawatcongo Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 don't worry sweets, we kicked his ass good and proper. Trust me when I say he probably doesn't need more beating up at this point yeah its alright, I was done with him anyway

munns6691 Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 Here's a new topic: What is Green Day's most underrated SINGLE: Go!
Cath Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 The Trilogy was for the fans. no it wasn't. why would it be different from the past albums?
fromdecimateddreams Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 Here's a new topic: What is Green Day's most underrated SINGLE: Go! I would say Walking Contradiction, not only because of how it did on the charts, but also cause I feel like it doesn't get as much love as it deserves. I adore that song, personally, and the video is hilarious.

DookieLukie Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 no it wasn't. why would it be different from the past albums? They said that it was for the fans.
Z J Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Here's a new topic: What is Green Day's most underrated SINGLE: Go! Jesus of Suburbia. Not necessarily underrated in Green Day fan circles. But it didn't perform well as a single and to me anyway, it's their best song and the chart performance didn't mirror that. Not my favorite necessarily (that changes all the time) but it will definitely go down in history as Green Day's best song. Deservedly so.
brokendreams90 Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Yes they do. Everything they do, they do for me. http://youtu.be/ZGoWtY_h4xo
tammy_cool Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Here's a new topic: What is Green Day's most underrated SINGLE: Go! Kill The DJ. It didnt get much love as a single but I think the fact that its so different for Green Day makes it a really gd song in myopinion
deletethisaccount Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Here's a new topic: What is Green Day's most underrated SINGLE: Go! I'd say Redundant. It's one of my favorites off Nimrod, and I don't seem to hear much discussion of it. That song is so cute! I just wanna pet it on the head!

Otherwise, this is the Unpopular Opinions thread. So no.
DannyDirnt Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 I don't agree that Jesus of Suburbia is their best song. I don't think it even gets to be in my top 5. I like it, it's okay, but I prefer many others over it.
Hermione Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Um, if you wanna make a new topic, go make it. Otherwise, this is the Unpopular Opinions thread. So no. Yeah this is actually true, this thread isn't just for general discussion. If you have an unpopular opinion about their singles go ahead and post it, but there's a thread for talking about underrated songs and albums here
Bastard of 1969 Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Here's a new topic: What is Green Day's most underrated SINGLE: Go! Stuck With me, i guess. It's so energical and rhytmic!
Jon Benjamin Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 I think the AI your setlist sucks. It used to be my favorite set of any of their tours but compared to the trilogy tour and even 21st it's boring and short. Also I think the setlists are going down again, the recent shows haven't had anything off Kerplunk, 39, or Insomniac. (Some at least) I mean cool, Waiting, NGFL, and Missing You but the start of the tour it was more diverse.
