Opinion: Jesus of Suburbia wasn't that good on BIAB (The vocal anyway)

The lyrics to Dirty Rotten Bastards are dumb.

Let me respond. First of all, just bc you know the lyrics of a song does not make it a good song. Secondly, I noticed that all four people who just disagreed with me are girls. Interesting. I've never met a normal girl Green Day fan. Usually a fangirl who loves AI or an emo girl.

Basically, girls have terrible taste when it comes to music (and mostly everything else).

And the award for Ignorant post of the year goes to....

I'll leave it there. Looks like he's already been flamed enough.

I was listening to Nimord earlier, and I don't think I fully appreciated the awesomeness that is Last Ride In. Some GD fans I know slag it off due to the lack of lyrics, but it's a fantastic piece of music. Always puts me in a nice chilled out vibe.

I'd rather they played ten more songs and dropped 90% of the "Heeeeey ooooohhhh" stuff that has now been done to death. It slows down the pace of the show now and, although I think it's great during Hitchin a Ride and a couple of others...not during every song. Not every time Billie's not singing.

I made this point earlier, and I expect you'll get the same response I did :P

Yeah, so have I. The answer is always 'Billie's doing it to entertain the audience' or 'I love the heeeey ooooohhhhh's :ermm: '

I think they're fun. They're boring when you watch them on youtube or any other video form but when it's live is much more fun. The whole 'band interacting with fans' thing is what I live for at concerts.

I would love for him to drop some hey-oh's though and speak more to the crowd, perhaps make some jokes and stuff.

Following this thread as a hey-oh hater, you guys convinced me that Billie's crowd interaction antics don't seem that bland after all :D

On the subject of meeting Green Day... I'm actually not that bothered about that at all. Sure, it'd be awesome to meet them but I really don't understand people who'd rather have a photo with them than see them live. That's just me but yeah, I know that's a really unpopular opinion

I don't know how in the world we're supposed to get a 'sour fuck you to Amanda' as the message of the song.

Isn't it supposed to be sarcastic? Like he's saying "I hope you had the time of your life" as in "I hope you enjoyed treating me like shit". Or that's what I've always assumed, anyway.

I think you already posted something very similar earlier today. It's just higher up the page I think.

Because that's the truth :P

I think if Green Day started taking pointers from us about how to entertain the crowd and run their shows they'd be in trouble. They're known as one of the best live bands in the world for a reason........they know what they're doing

Yes, that was about people who kind of stalk the band. :P The last one was about meeting them in general.

"Castaway" should have replaced the title track as one of the four singles from Warning. It has to be the catchiest song the band's ever written, with the possible exception of "Basket Case".

THIS.

I think Castaway would have done better as a single than Warning did. Warning is catchy and all, but Castaway has a better melody to it and is definitely better radio material.

Plus it's my favourite song off that album, but that's just me being biased.

Warning has a great riff, it's just insanely overplayed throughout the song.

I'd prefer it as a staple over Minority.

Speaking about Billie's crowd interaction, the only thing I dislike is when Billie says that they're gonna play all night along when we all know that that isn't true.
hey-oh's are fine and should stay forever!

"There are no curfews! There are no time limits! We're going to celebrate all night!"

I remember my first concert that got me so excited. Like, omg this is crazy! They're so crazy! Yay!

But by my second concert and seeing him say it on like...every TV performance or festival, I started to smile about it lol

I think that's meant to be kind of a knowing little joke and shared bit of wishful thinking between the band and the crowd. What they're really saying is "We'd love to play all night and we know you'd love it too, wouldn't it be great if we could!", they're sharing a little bond with us in that we're all wishing for the same thing and in that we all know it's really just a tease. I think it's sweet :D

True, but then again, the lyrics to most of the Trilogy are dumb as well.

I know that they used to play Castaway live, but I wish they would add it in at least occasionally because it kicks ass.

As long as I'm on the topic, Minority is the most overrated GD song out there. And yes, I'm completely serious.

(someone's gonna reach through my computer and stab me)

I agree. It's my least favorite songs off of Warning. It's alright live, but I'd rather not listen to the studio version or hear it in concert.

Ohhhhh...controversial! ;)

I like the lyrics, they cry absolute insanity and lunacy, and truly not giving a fuck. As well as the lyrics, in my opinion the song itself is very much a cocaine trip (not my experience, by the way) while standing on the wing of a jet plane crashing through the atmosphere and spearheading towards an invincible fire-breathing lion in an aquarium full of killer sharks. It's that good.

The song is good. The lyrics sound like he drank 14 pints of Stella then wrote random sentences on beer coasters until he had enough for a 9 minute song and then lost half of them.
