HolyHandGrenade Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 The mid-late 90's produced Green Day's best music videos, hands down. Walking Contradiction, Redundant, and my personal favorite, Nice Guys Finish Last. I wish they wouldn't get swept under the rug all the time :'( For your viewing pleasure: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nDq1HoNm-E THERE"S NO "I" IN BAND!!!
musso_kn Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 So I made this post a couple hours ago and I see people are still being angry about it, so let me explain a few things. 1) What I said is an OPINION. As much as the liberal media might think, people can have opinions that may not fit with everyone else's. I said that I have not met a normal female Green Day fan. The female fans I have met are huge "billie is so hawt" fangirls. That's all I said. Additionally, my experiences with girls has led me to believe that it is very hard to find nice girls. That's a personal situation and maybe has to do with where I live, but that's purely why I said it. 2) So you guys wasted hours of your time berating me for a small comment I made. What if that comment was sarcastic? Or joking? Maybe it was a bit misguided but so far that's what I have seen. Is it ok to bash and insult a guy just because of his opinion? I said I haven't met a normal female fan. You guys made fun of my sexuality, my age, my maturity, my intelligence, etc. And you went on and on and on. Maybe I'm weird, but I've never flipped out or sworn at someone online for an opinion they've said, no matter how offensive. Just saying, don't "fight fire with a riot." I know a lot of people on here are girls and my comment came off probably offensive. But calling me swear words and ripping me apart kind of proves my point, doesn't it? Once again sorry. That is all. 1) If you had said "the female Green Day fans I have met in real life were just obsessed with Billie Joe" no one would have flipped out at you, because that is an experience you might have had. That's not the issue here, mate. You said something to the effect "oh, all girls have crap taste in music and other things" and "all female green day females fans are emos etc.". That came across as rude and sexist because you weren't explaining your experiences; you were making a false, sexist assertion. 2) You have had hard time with girls? Has it ever occurred to you that a lot of girls here might have had a hard time with guys? Visit the rape and sexual assault thread and then tell me how often you hear women, UNPROVOKED, making unfair remarks about men. For every horrible woman, there's a very nice one, and the same goes for men. 3) In retrospect, maybe the response you got was a little too harsh. I'm sorry for calling you cunt and a douchebag personally, because no I probably wouldn't have done that in real life, to be honest. But, no I don't think you were joking because you've made subtler comments like this before: this topic seems to trouble you and it came out in an ugly way today.

I know a lot of people on here are girls and my comment came off probably offensive. But calling me swear words and ripping me apart kind of proves my point, doesn't it? Once again sorry. That is all. Really? Because I can pull up the quotations and compare them as a contrast to the above. While I'm at it, don't expect forgiveness just because you've made a sob story, then apologising. I have no sympathies, and the below pretty much explains it all. Insert here: a bunch of fangirls saying how Nightlife is cool Nightlife is horrible, and if you were truly a fan of Green Day's music, you would certainly not enjoy it. Let me guess: you think Dookie is boring and Insomniac is too violent musically, and your favorite song is WMUWSE. Let me respond. First of all, just bc you know the lyrics of a song does not make it a good song. Secondly, I noticed that all four people who just disagreed with me are girls. Interesting. I've never met a normal girl Green Day fan. Usually a fangirl who loves AI or an emo girl. Basically, girls have terrible taste when it comes to music (and mostly everything else). Let's get something fucking clear here. You are one sexist prick that pretty much deserved the slack you got. Granted, you've said you have yet to meet a "normal" Green Day fan, yet there's plenty here. You just don't like their opinion. However, you then go on to say, and not just Green Day fans, that girls have a terrible taste in everything. I think that's a tough call to say that you're not sexist when you've clearly stated a misogynistic opinion and expect us to fall for your shit. Big deal, some girls like Nightlife, yet you attack them because you don't like that song but even go so far as attack them for their gender. If you're stating you didn't mean that, then you could've worded it better, but I think you explained your thoughts clearly. While I'm at it, you may have opinions, but you're stating them as if they're objectives. A "real Green Day" likes the band regardless, whether it's the old albums, the new ones, or even one, and even go to one show they liked in their life. That's a real fan, and that's not opinion either. That's a fact; because a fan doesn't need to like what someone else does. Fans like what they want to like, and they don't need to attend every show, or have a ton of merch, or like every song, or even dislike songs the majority seemingly don't like. Your "opinion" is nothing more than that; yet you're attacking other people's opinions because you disagree with them as if you're the one true fan, or something along those lines. In conclusion: shut up and go home. All you've displayed is sexism just because people didn't agree to your opinion, and even attacking other opinions. You are also a really shitty liar, or even a hypocrite, as you even claim to say people are allowed opinions yet you tell others they are wrong for their opinion being a contrast to yours or your way of thinking. I would offer better advice, but judging the fact I can't see any change ahead, I can safely admit this is hopeless. Just go home. We come here for fun times and chat, not to put up with someone else's ignorant bullshit, let alone their sob stories just so they get away with a hopeful slap on the wrist.

Yes, but your opinion was stupid and ignorant, and you were called out for it. I know your ass might be a little sore from the pounding it took, but trying to defend the comment isn't going to make it any better. Buck up and move on.

Oh no wait maybe you don't need to get laid 'cause it sounds like someone (probably a girl cause y'know they're terrible) has firmly rammed something up your arse to the hilt as it is, my mistake.
Hermione Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Pretty sure the point's been made now. How about getting back to some unpopular Green Day opinions?
Iain Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Pretty sure the point's been made now. How about getting back to some unpopular Green Day opinions? It's like herpes and Psy; once you think it's gone, it keeps coming back!
Guest Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Pretty sure the point's been made now. How about getting back to some unpopular Green Day opinions? Dropping Good Riddance from the set is one of the best decisions Green Day ever made.
fukingcounterstrike Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Pretty sure the point's been made now. How about getting back to some unpopular Green Day opinions? maybe we can merge this section of the thread into general chat purely as unpopular opinions, this persons being the first one
Cath Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 I think we should all talk about the song She. it's in my top 5 favorite GD song. i just love everything about it!
Iain Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 maybe we can merge this section of the thread into general chat purely as unpopular opinions, this persons being the first one Nah that would be classed as attacking others as a whole forum; in a thread, it's fine to respond but we can't use people as topics.

Hermione Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Dropping Good Riddance from the set is one of the best decisions Green Day ever made. How about no . It's such a nice way of saying goodbye at the end with everyone singing along, I really like the tradition of it. I didn't like them ending with a fast song much, no one knew it was the end so there was no chance to kind of say goodbye, they were just gone . But I suppose it's better with Brutal Love, if they had to get rid of it at least they chose a good replacement. Nah that would be classed as attacking others as a whole forum; in a thread, it's fine to respond but we can't use people as topics. Don't listen to Bobo's suggestions
HolyHandGrenade Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 I think we should all talk about the song She. Let's talk about music videos! (my post ) I got sandwiched between chaos Feel free to make a topic slagging me We make one each time you get banned for duplicate accounts and spam - Ben just hides them once you're back. Sorry to spill the beans
munns6691 Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Few Unpopular opinions I have that I just learned were apparently unpopular: Warning is a damn solid album. I really enjoy Minority. Their live version on Comp'd or MTV's world stage was better than BIAB. Hold On is a good Song. Jackass is very good. Deadbeat Holiday as well. And (not Unpopular but must be stated) She, especially live is one of their top 5 songs.
Z J Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 I actually quite like all the ones you hate, except for Sex, Drugs and Violence. The music is boring and the lyrics are naff and unconvincing. Baby Eyes' lyrics just don't do it for me, The Forgotten is in the same boat. Never got the appeal of Nightlife. Perhaps people like it because it's a novelty. But the only thing I like about it is the bass line. The lyrics, rhythm, and the fact that lady nightlife isn't a very good rapper just put me off. But hey I like the song you quote in the bottom of your posts. So we can agree on that! I've said it before and I'll say it again, 99 Revolutions is the weakest show opener GD have ever used. It's just a bit flat. I understand what you mean. It needs another verse or something. Too repetitive for me. IDK if that would fix it but who knows. However, I will say that live (when I was there, not on youtube), the one two punch of 99 Revolutions and KYE were very good. Of course compared to American Idiot and Song of the Century/21 CB is anything opener really as good? Your post was dumb and sexist as hell. You better stop. Seriously... wtf Is that gif you picking up Billie Joe? If yes....then bravo! As long as I'm on the topic, Minority is the most overrated GD song out there. And yes, I'm completely serious. (someone's gonna reach through my computer and stab me) Minority live was one of the highlights of their show I went to in April. The lyrics are pinnacle Green Day for me. It is NOT a great studio song. The lyrics to me make it decent. But the live version is another story
Jon Herroon Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 I don't really think there's a single album I don't like, yeah every album has it's throw away tracks, but I think everything they've put out is at the very least good. If I had to choose a least favorite, it'd probably be 1039 just because I haven't listened to it as much as the others. Don't make me try to choose a favorite though that's pure evil. Warning is an awesome album. There was a week or so where that was all I listened to, misery was on repeat for an hour.
munns6691 Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Oh and I wish Going To Pasalaca wasn't just one verse and a chorus.
solongfromthestars Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 People are all "this is great!" when fans meet the band in hotels, airports, etc but I don't understand why anyone thinks that's cool. If you just bump into them then fair enough, that's understandable, but some people wait (or even stalk them back to their hotel) and that's just an invasion of their privacy. Obviously it's going to happen with people in their position, but personally I wouldn't feel good about meeting them that way so I don't get it.

DannyDirnt Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Dropping Good Riddance from the set is one of the best decisions Green Day ever made. I totally agree! That song isn't even that good. I mean, it sounds beautiful but most people don't even unbderstand the meaning. And I know the meaning myself, but when I take a look at the lyrics I don't know how in the world we're supposed to get a 'sour fuck you to Amanda' as the message of the song.
JOE THE X-KID Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Hold on and deadbeat holiday are some of my favourites....
