Iain Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 I'm gonna throw it out there; please restrain from using all firearms and implements of destruction until the end of the comment, thank you. I like the musical. But I don't think it's the definition of American Idiot's story. I don't think the concept of the album as well as 21st Century Breakdown can be ever translated into a single story (or stories per album), whether it's art, musicals, movies, etc. I think concept albums are all down to a subjective point of view, and the way these albums are written are pretty open as to what they're trying to say and it's up to the listener to piece the story together and understand what is being said, and how it relates to what you do in your life. On the musical though, I don't mind it, whatever you get from this, it isn't that I think it's bad. It's pretty good! I just think that's only one way to translate the story. And in a way, I'm glad they did as there's some things I couldn't understand. However, I think it isn't the only way to define the album. I think it's all down to what you think, individually, and what you make of it for yourself. Okay, now let me just get my kevlar vest on...
Florence Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 This may be an unpopular Warning related opinion: Blood Sex And Booze is by far the best song on the album. It's fabulous LET ME LOVE YOU
Guest Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Jesus Christ Ian, grow some balls. The musical is fucking appalling.
The Grouch is Tracy Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 New topic........ We've all seen pictures posted of GD's awesome dogs...... I think Billie should write nicer lines for dogs, no more illiterate, sodomized canines allowed in future songs! (Or cats in the dryer!)
Hermione Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 That sax in Jackass is just hot. Are you familiar with the classic song in the old Bodyform sanitary towel adverts that went "Whooooooaaaaaaaa Bodyform, Bodyform for yoooooouuuuu!". The Jackass sax solo totally sounds like that! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=asXw2a4kQLc
fromdecimateddreams Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Theo only song on Warning I'm not keen on is Hold On. All the others are absolutely class. That sax in Jackass is just hot. Church on Sunday will be my wedding song. the sax in Jackass is one of my favourite things on that whole album, honestly. Maybe it's cause I'm a sax player, but I just really, really love it. That whole album is great. Definitely one of my favourites.

Well apart from the liking it part (musicals just aren't my thing). But I like that they did it even though it's not to my taste. That's exactly how I see it in regards to the story of the album, it's just one interpretation.
musso_kn Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Blood, Sex and Booze > Fuck Time One would get me naked, the other'd make me run a mile. But that's probably not that unpopular.
Guest Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Come to the US i want to, even if it's just for the musical ofc i'll see you too bb gurl
Guest Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 I'll take you to the musical for real. It'd be so great. Forget the haters the musical is basically feels on wheels. i wish i saw it when billie was in it that'd be awesome but ye i need to see it i hope it stays around for a while

The Jackass sax solo totally sounds like that! I've never seen that before. It was totally cringeworthy! I can see the similarities, but only vaguely, thank God.
Iain Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 i wish i saw it when billie was in it that'd be awesome but ye i need to see it i hope it stays around for a while I can see the Trilogy lasting a good while. Also, it's a good show, I think you would like it.
Cath Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 no one talked about Fashion Victim about Warning probably my favorite off the album. related to Minority, the song is kinda weak but i love the message it gives and the live version!
GenesisJames Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Warning sucks donkey anus. Discuss. No wonder you're the villain! You hurt me.
Guest Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 I'm surprised to see so many agreeing with me on Minority...
dumb shiny bitch Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 The muscial was ok. The music was good but the whole dancing and dialogue stuff, no thanks
munns6691 Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 I love Warning!! Except from Deadbeat Holiday, i don't like it at all WHAT? That is easily my favorite Warning song
musso_kn Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 I love Minority. The liberating lyrics, the the melody, the rhythm, the little harmonica action, the live improvised solos...it's right up there with She as one of my favourites by them.
heart on a noose Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 I'm surprised to see so many agreeing with me on Minority... Me too, but not in a good way! Minority is a beautiful song and not only as a live song but also as the studio version. It was painful reading last two pages, didn't know so many people hate it, uh. I could only agree that video for Minority is kinda lame.

Those computer animated balloon thingys are the bomb. It's just... all so wonderful. In fact, I'm going to go and watch it right now. Just to absorb all its awesomeness.
Comrade Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Let me respond. First of all, just bc you know the lyrics of a song does not make it a good song. Secondly, I noticed that all four people who just disagreed with me are girls. Interesting. I've never met a normal girl Green Day fan. Usually a fangirl who loves AI or an emo girl. Basically, girls have terrible taste when it comes to music (and mostly everything else). Someone needs to get laid.
DookieLukie Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 So I made this post a couple hours ago and I see people are still being angry about it, so let me explain a few things. 1) What I said is an OPINION. As much as the liberal media might think, people can have opinions that may not fit with everyone else's. I said that I have not met a normal female Green Day fan. The female fans I have met are huge "billie is so hawt" fangirls. That's all I said. Additionally, my experiences with girls has led me to believe that it is very hard to find nice girls. That's a personal situation and maybe has to do with where I live, but that's purely why I said it. 2) So you guys wasted hours of your time berating me for a small comment I made. What if that comment was sarcastic? Or joking? Maybe it was a bit misguided but so far that's what I have seen. Is it ok to bash and insult a guy just because of his opinion? I said I haven't met a normal female fan. You guys made fun of my sexuality, my age, my maturity, my intelligence, etc. And you went on and on and on. Maybe I'm weird, but I've never flipped out or sworn at someone online for an opinion they've said, no matter how offensive. Just saying, don't "fight fire with a riot." I know a lot of people on here are girls and my comment came off probably offensive. But calling me swear words and ripping me apart kind of proves my point, doesn't it? Once again sorry. That is all.

Nightlife is horrible, and if you were truly a fan of Green Day's music, you would certainly not enjoy it. Let me guess: you think Dookie is boring and Insomniac is too violent musically, and your favorite song is WMUWSE.
