It should be the opening! Look at that countdown.. just perfect to get people pumped up! :runaround:

I know right. :o Before the tour started I thought it would be NF as opener, it would be a badass opener yes.

Still 99 revolutions is a great song to start the show!

Yeah! From the first time I listened to it I thought (and was almost certain) it would be the opener of the tour! I like 99 revolutions too, but still Nuclear Family would have been perfect.

99 Revolutions is a fucking amazing opener, but I'm still hoping they'll switch it up for the second leg. I'd love it if they opened with Nuclear Family but at this point I just hope they play it period haha. As long as they don't open with Welcome to Paradise like they did a few times I'll be happy

Yes I agree it would be great but I really doubt they would switch song. They'll keep 99 revolutions.

I hope they never play Dirty Rotten Bastards live because it is dreadful and it would kill the general buzz in a big arena show.

at the promo shows they closed their set (excluding encore) with 99 revolutions and now its the opener? wtf..

Anything dealing with promotion is up to Warner, not the band. So releasing singles, videos, etc are completely out of Green Day's control. Warner very well could have told them that they are done doing anything as far as the Trilogy is concerned. If that's the case, then we have seen all the promotion it will get. It's very sad, but it's the reality of the situation.

This wouldn't surprise me either.

I wouldn't call it dreadful, but I definitely don't give a shit about hearing it. It's "epic" for the sake of being "epic" and JOS fills the "epic" role just fine IMO.

Is anyone else also disappointed to see they are on average playing less songs than they did on the 21CB tour?

Considering Billie could have died and and the band could have broken up, no I'm not. I'm happy that they are playing for more than the 90 minutes that would probably be the healthiest for them.

I understand completely, but I will be expecting them to be playing 30/35 songs a show again on the second leg of their tour.

This little chunk taken from the San Jose Mercury's reveiw of the Berkeley show pretty much sums up why they aren't playing more Trilogy material and why the setlists have seemed "stale" for some people. While I wholeheartedly disagree with what this person wrote, this IS the mindset of the masses.

"In Berkeley, the band played a goodly amount of new songs and was able to make each one matter. If you have listened to "Uno!," "Dos!" and "Tre!," you know that's really saying something.

How'd Green Day do it? The band treated every song like it was the one that mattered most in the set list. Armstrong and company, of course, were wrong in that regard — the ones that mattered most, like on tours' past, were the offerings from 1994's "Dookie" and 2004's "American Idiot.""

This setlist was good for me though Id been waiting 10 years to see them and now I've seen all the classics so when they have to drop some I won't feel like I missed out. I feel like I really missed out on the 21st tour I really hope they bring the song 21st back eventually

I think there for the tour being what it is, is because they want to play it safe, they don't want to go all out as they have only just recovered for the worst thing to of happened to the band, which could of ended in disaster. They don't want to push the limits like they did before, they don't want things to get worse. They just want to ease into the shallow end instead of diving head first into the deep end. The tour will pick up as it travels around the world. The US just happens to be the very first leg, so shows there were bound to be safe shows. However by the time they are back and start touring in the US again after the rest of the tour they will not be holding back. If you expected them to be at full strength during the opening legs of the tour you really have to rethink your priorities. Billie Joe's health is the most important thing right now and making sure he doesn't stress out too much is the major factor. Knowing what their mind set has been when they played song live for the first time in the past, Billie gets nervous, they will want to avoid that as that was a major factor in creating the issue before. Therefore they will slowly start adding trilogy songs into the tour but only when Billie is confident in how the audience will take it or, is in good enough condition to handle the stress.

I really, really hope they drop King For A Day on the second leg. I dread that part of the show because I've seen it so many times (and I never really liked it blending into "Shout" to begin with).

Porksoda - I am with you on this. I have seen Green Day do the KFAD thing on every tour since Nimrod. Yes, that's right. Even back then they extended the song with horn players, costumes, a leopard thong & a kazoo!

This has probably been said in the thread before. But is anyone absolutely gutted that good riddance isn't the final song anymore?

It was for me...

But yes, the thought of it not being the final song at my first concert killed me. Which is why I went into a fit of hysteria (I have the embarrassing audio all recorded on my phone, haha) when he came back out and played it in Pittsburgh.

No clue why he only plays it in Pennsylvania now... :ermm:

Watch GDC explode when

1) Dirty Rotten Bastards gets played

2) The set list never changes, we spam rage comments, and drown in sorrow and pity

if they aren't going to play drb i'm willing to accept nuclear family instead.

Why settle? Both or GTFO! :P

Posted

I have a terrible feeling we're gonna end up with the GTFO option instead of getting both :'( don't worry though I'm sure they'll still be taking requests from the crowd!!! ;)

"Nuclear Family!" "DRB!" "Nuclear Family!" "DRB!" "Nuclear Family!" "DRB!" "Nuclear Family!" "DRB!"

"Burnout! All right! Heeeeeey-OOOoOOOooH!"
