albert1285 Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Oh, I thought it was known that Green Day sound incredible live haha. Obviously the energy is high and they are just a really tight band on the stage. = The setlist is what makes the show for me. We've been hearing the same songs for sooooo long now. I know I can't speak for everyone, but I know that I'm really, really tired of hearing some songs. and the fact that 21st Century Breakdown was one of the best openers I've ever seen at a concert, while 99 Revolutions is a cringeworthy opener, but that's just me. I was gonna post exactly this! So now that you said it, well basically this how I feel. I liked the first concert I went, it was mind blowing but still the lack of trilogy songs was totally devastating, and yeah definitely 21st Century Breakdown was an awesome opener, while 99 is decent, but not that strong to be quite honest. I really hope a second leg tour with ACTUALLY trilogy songs. Have all of you guys noticed that when they starting touring and promoting they actually played more UNO songs before the iHeart Festival thing? Why didn't he continue playing more of that but now with Dos and Tre?
AlissaGoesRAWR Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Never EVER touch SWTRLF. That's the song I'm probably most excited about. I love that song, and it's a killer live. If you wanna change one for Nuclear Family take X-Kid, which seems to be the worst live one so far to my eyes. But Nuclear Family isn't that awesome anyway. Don't talk about X-Kid that way. ... But yeah, sometimes I can tell that they're not as confident playing it yet. Things sound a little off. But the song is still amazing and so then it's OK with me. But I acknowledge I'm biased. Things were different then (obviously). Their attitude toward the trilogy has obviously changed (at least for now) and you can't blame them, given how hyped they were before it was released and how everything panned out. It's not right or wrong, it's just how it is. The crowd dies whenever they play new stuff. The music is amazing, but if it doesn't produce as much of a reaction, they won't play a whole show of just new stuff. If you watch Cuatro, Billie talks a lot about that, even back when they had very high expectations for the trilogy. He seemed to have a tendency to go back to old stuff in the DVD too because it's what resonates with the crowd.
albert1285 Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 But I mean how they can expect people to like the trilogy songs if they don't promote it. I'm not saying promote them in concerts, but they can release more singles singles, commercials and those things. That way people will start listening their new songs. In other words, one cannot expect things to happen, if you don't do something about it. That obviously means that they need to start promote it again, and for sure people will be interested...
Mar Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 The one thing I didn't like about SWTRLF live was how insanely fast they played it. The song is up tempo as it is! Although it got the crowd really pumped up, it was all a blur - I don't have much of a memory of that song, just that it was fast and that the lighting was amazing for it. Too fast and robotic, almost like they were in a hurry to finish it. I'm the same way with my memory. But I mean how they can expect people to like the trilogy songs if they don't promote it. I'm not saying promote them in concerts, but they can release more singles singles, commercials and those things. That way people will start listening their new songs. For sure. I think they're in a Catch-22 at the moment. Touring helps get the Trilogy songs to the fans at the shows but it also keeps them from promoting the Trilogy beyond the concertgoers (on TV, etc.) as, I imagine, the worry of salacious interview questions.
Tubbie Head Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 They played Drama Queen and Nuclear Family at the sound-check! (and maybe some others but that's all I know) I still think Nuclear Family would be the best opener for this tour! And I wish they would have the acoustic set so that Drama Queen would be included, I love it.
Gwen Stacy Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 I think DRB would fit amazingly between X-Kid and Minority on the setlist. The "carried away" part would transition perfectly into the opening riff of Minority. I know you're watching Billie Make it happen.
DannyDirnt Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Are you sure?Check this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6QwPys-Oklo It sounds great live to me(very close to studio version). X-Kid is one of their best songs EVER.They need to play this song. No, I don't think it's that good live. Lacks energy and emotion.
Jax Teller Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 No, I don't think it's that good live. Lacks energy and emotion. Maybe because we're watching from youtube....?
Guest Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Sorry if this has been answered but are they still playing St Jimmy? I need to hear that live!
Cath Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Sorry if this has been answered but are they still playing St Jimmy? I need to hear that live! Yes they still play the song.
Guest Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Yes they still play the song. I think I peed a little. YUUUUUUUUHS!
DannyDirnt Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Maybe because we're watching from youtube....? No, it's not because of that. Brutal Love or Let Yourself Go do have energy and you can see that from YouTube.
EastCaitNowhere Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Yeah I wish they would play DRB, it's quite an upbeat and crowd-pumping song. And I do agree, they should replace nuclear family with something else.
albert1285 Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 The pre album 2012 shows had better setlists look at this from Japan 2012 Setlist: 01 - Opening 02 - Welcome To Paradise 03 - Nuclear Family 04 - Stay The Night 05 - Stop When The Red Lights Flash 06 - Carpe Diem 07 - Oh Love 08 - Angel Blue 09 - Kill The DJ 10 - Let Yourself Go 11 - Longview 12 - Holiday 13 - Nice Guys Finish Last 14 - Troublemaker 15 - Murder City 16 - Hitchin' A Ride 17 - Brain Stew 18 - St.Jimmy 19 - Give Me Novacaine 20 - Letterbomb 21 - Stray Heart 22 - 99 Revolutions 23 - She 24 - Basket Case 25 - Going To Pasalacqua 26 - American Idiot 27 - Minority 28 - Lady Cobra 29 - Closing That's a great setlist I was reading previous post and SERIOUSLY WTF! That setlist is way better than the one they use right now. and that was only UNO in most part. I don't want to devalue or discredit the oldies, but this setlist was actually focused in the trilogy like it is supposed to be, which IMO was/is good. Now could you imagine how the setlist was turn out when Dos and Tre were out. WAY better. I would really like to hear something official about it coming from Billie or something like an interview on what's up with these setlists
scottrowan200 Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 And all the classics are still there .... Basket case ... Minority .... Hitching a ride ... Leterbomb ect

If want hard, definitive answers on his opinion of the trilogy at this stage, as well as the set list.
GZUSofSuburbia Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 I doubt it would ever happen and I dunno how it would work but I really wish they would bring 21st Century Breakdown back!
HolyHandGrenade Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 I doubt it would ever happen and I dunno how it would work but I really wish they would bring 21st Century Breakdown back! We all know that Know Your Enemy was a poor choice for a single, but it's even more of a slap in the face to play it to fans who know that there are much better songs from 21CB

Especially 21CB the song, that was an awesome live song!
brutal kid Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 I want to hear the new songs so bad man, they played rusty james which is really good, uno dos tre were awesome and definetely deserve to be played. We all know that Know Your Enemy was a poor choice for a single, but it's even more of a slap in the face to play it to fans who know that there are much better songs from 21CB know your enemy is just meh, they overplayed it, I usually just skip it, but still kinda like the song though.
Clockwise Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 I understand their choices to keep the setlist how it is, but I do hope they keep adding to them as the world tour progresses.
brutal kid Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 How can they still play St jimmy? It was cool during american idiot tour, but now it's just boring, put let yourself go or loss of control(both were kinda punk). Drama queen should played sometimes, and sweet 16 and of course LAdy cobra i understand why they aren't playing drb...kind of. but that doesn't mean i want it any less WHY?
brutal kid Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 x-kid is not a good live song, it's ok why aren't they playing drb? i'm assuming because no one knows it and it would probably get depressing for the band to look out at the audience and see almost everyone just standing there for 5 minutes straight. Yeah I know, but they need to promote their albums, how do you think will they? I wish they played redundant instead of Hitchin a ride

It's has simple, sing along lyrics for at least half the song, and I loved it on first listen. It shouldn't be any different live
