DannyDirnt Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 9 years? Try 16 years they have been doing KFAD live with that shtick! No, they've been doing the exact same thing for 9 years only, not 16.
Ryan Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 There suppose to be promoting these albums Wrong. If this tour was about promoting the Trilogy they would have never changed the name from the Uno! Dos! Tre! Tour...which is what it was officially called prior to Billie's incident and subsequent rehab. This tour is about showing everybody that they are back and still have it (and more!). I firmly believe that they will start opening up the setlist a bit and adding more Trilogy stuff once they get going. But just look at how the crowd shuts down as soon as they start playing a Trilogy song, yet will go absolutely nuts when they start playing When I Come Around. As somebody that fronts a band and performs a lot, I can tell you that you play whatever gets the best reaction from the crowd...and that's exactly what they are doing.
theotherjc Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Does anyone know when green day may announce more tour dates? I was at the brooklyn show but I fucked up and had to leave early (I don't want to go into detail). I really want to see Green Day again after having to leave my first green day show early. If anyone has any idea when they may announce more tour dates, please let me know.
LisaBJA Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 I hope that Billie Joe won't only call kids on stage I also want to be on stage with him
iScottie Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 I'm hoping we get a second leg. There's nothing really exciting going on in my life so the highlights tend to be attending shows, especially Green Day.

andrearosef Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 Makeout Party & Wow Thats Loud on the setlist EVERY NIGHT. DUH!
scottrowan200 Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 The pre album 2012 shows had better setlists look at this from Japan 2012 Setlist: 01 - Opening 02 - Welcome To Paradise 03 - Nuclear Family 04 - Stay The Night 05 - Stop When The Red Lights Flash 06 - Carpe Diem 07 - Oh Love 08 - Angel Blue 09 - Kill The DJ 10 - Let Yourself Go 11 - Longview 12 - Holiday 13 - Nice Guys Finish Last 14 - Troublemaker 15 - Murder City 16 - Hitchin' A Ride 17 - Brain Stew 18 - St.Jimmy 19 - Give Me Novacaine 20 - Letterbomb 21 - Stray Heart 22 - 99 Revolutions 23 - She 24 - Basket Case 25 - Going To Pasalacqua 26 - American Idiot 27 - Minority 28 - Lady Cobra 29 - Closing That's a great setlist

During this time, they were pumped about the newness of the trilogy and probably slightly intoxicated, so they most likely felt like they could do anything (not that they necessarily were drunk all the time, but y'know). Now, post-meltdown/rehab they know everyone is watching them with judgmental eyes, and instead of showing off new stuff, they're playing catch-up and most likely feeling like they have something to prove. So what better way to prove you still got it than play the songs that make the crowd go crazy? Obviously I have no clue how they actually feel, and this is just speculation, but it makes sense. After they get their confidence back and get into a groove without the help of substances, hopefully we'll see some more creative setlists.

Sorry, but that's not completely right. Otherwise, they wouldn't play songs like Holden Caulfield or Disappearing Boy. Nobody knows these songs.
Ryan Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 Sorry, but that's not completely right. Otherwise, they wouldn't play songs like Holden Caulfield or Disappearing Boy. Nobody knows these songs. Really? So the crowd doesn't go absolutely insane EVERY time he asks how many old school/vintage Green Day fans there are? The place erupts any time they play either of those songs you mentioned, or Pasalacqua, or 2,000 LYA, etc. So yeah...you're wrong in saying nobody knows those songs because WAYYYY more people know those (and scream their fucking heads off when they get played) than there are people that know the Trilogy songs.
iScottie Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 Sorry, but that's not completely right. Otherwise, they wouldn't play songs like Holden Caulfield or Disappearing Boy. Nobody knows these songs. Nobody, huh? That's why the bulk of fans at the show are old school Green Day fans. Not to mention, Billie Joe usually prompts the crowd first with the question, "how many old school Green Day fans are out there?" And the arena screams, so... If anyone goes to the concert just expecting an overkill of American Idiot and the Trilogy, they should just stay home.

I don't want to start a discussion here, but the place definitely doesn't "erupt". It may "erupt" during songs like Holiday, Know Your Enemy or American Idiot but definitely not during any pre-Dookie song. 2000LYA and Paslacqua might be two exceptions because these two songs have become pretty popular in the meantime, but the 90% of the crowd doesn't know songs like Disappearing Boy, Holden Caulfield etc. Disappearing Boy: Billie Joe starts playing the song, only a few people cheer and absolutely nobody moves although it would be the perfect song to freak out. Holden Caulfield: No crowd reaction at all. 0:54 A few hands in the air and this one guy in the third row is jumping up and down. I agree that the audience freaks out when Billie asks his famous question but nevertheless I can't see any crowd reaction Berlin 2012 might be a good example as well. Great crowd, lots of moshpits and stuff but during Pasalacqua everything slowed down which was very sad to see. The audience doesn't know any trilogy either songs though, that's right. But that's my opinion
alienlifeform Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 Some of the American idiot shows they played the full album and then an encore of hits Why can't they do this again Obv not all 3 albums. But a good few this time I would agree with this... cuz they had done it for some shows in 21st Century Breakdown tour and these 3 records are amazing... I would pay to see them paying the trilogy from front to back
scottrowan200 Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 In watchig the old fox theatre show right now where they play the full album. I guess they are just going back to what works for them. Or because unlike the secret shows the areas are huge and people paid around 60 pound for tickets ( London anyway) and feel they have to go back to "presenting them selfs" the way they are used to
iScottie Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 I'm still not giving up on Dirty Rotten Bastards, especially for the California shows. Also would love to see Paper Lanterns back in the set, The Judge's Daughter, At The Library, Dry Ice, Only Of You, and Green Day.
pucky Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 Do you think the band is going to get back the "special effects" into their shows? Not that it is vital for the concerts, but I love the fire, the confetti, the fireworks, the explosions, the rain of sparks... It adds up so much emotion to the shows and makes them so epic..

No because I'm sure I read that the band made a loss in 21cb tour with the production and pyro ect
GuitarPunk94 Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 no need for special effects..i just want them to have fun and play many good songs
TheNimrod51 Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 No because I'm sure I read that the band made a loss in 21cb tour with the production and pyro ect A loss money wise?
scottrowan200 Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 Yeh I'm sure I read that on the fourm heer sometime
porksoda Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 If what's on setlist.fm is correct, then Quebec City has had the best set list so far. It's making me more excited for Thursday.
HolyHandGrenade Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 If what's on setlist.fm is correct, then Quebec City has had the best set list so far. It's making me more excited for Thursday. And just a day earlier, they played Carpe Diem, JAR, and Holden Caulfield. I have high hopes that we will hear DRB in Cali, due to the lyrics (California's burnin' down tonight) and the changes in the set list
