fatherotti Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 More stage banters like in the old days where they didn't give a fuck.
SuperXCsabre495 Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 At one of the shows a group of people should try to get the crowd to start doing the DRB "Yeahs" from the beginning of the song and maybe they will play it if they hear it
gdpony Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Still waiting for those latin american dates I must say I love LOVE the lights at the shows right now, they look amazing!
LazyPhil Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Honestly, i'm glad i'm waiting for the second leg of the tour. It's going to be so much better considering all the tinkering they're going to be doing with the setlist and stage fanatics. I made it to the 2nd leg of the 21CB tour back in 2010 and it was a rockin show. JAR made it on AAF. They'll be top notch and have a sick setlist second leg i bet. Or you could just go to both legs?Still waiting for those latin american dates I must say I love LOVE the lights at the shows right now, they look amazing! Maybe they'll announce them as final dates like last time
TheNimrod51 Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Or you could just go to both legs? Maybe they'll announce them as final dates like last time I had tickets to the cleveland show till that got postponed and there weren't any that close from ohio so i'm waiting till they come back to cleveland. They usually make up for postponed tour dates.

C.H. Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 I saw some people complaining about the redundant setlist of Green Day 1-99,9% of the bands does the same fucking setlist for a specific tour 2-Green Day always change some songs in every show to surprise everybody 3-THEY DO THE BEST THEY CAN TO INCLUDE EVERY ALBUMS IN THEIR SHOW EVERY NIGHT! Not a lot of bands are doing this! 4-Therefore, stop complaining. We should feel lucky.

They usually make up for postponed tour dates. IF they come back to Cleveland... Exactly. Our date wasn't even postponed, it was straight-up canceled! And I'm sure Wolstein would just be thrilled to book them again after they canceled on them tbh my only "expectation" for the next U.S. tour (maybe more of a "I wouldn't be surprised if this happened" thought)? Smaller venues. There's been a lot of talk about empty areas this tour; maybe they'll go for 10,000 seat venues instead of the mostly 12,000-20,000 like most on this tour.

Green Day put together a show (which has taken years and playing many many times to develop), and then they tour it around. If you want to see it more than once that's fine, but it's not designed to entertain the same person multiple times, it's designed to entertain the people in a particular city once. It's not a tv show with different episodes, it's a carefully put together stage show. Who cares what they play before and after your show or how different the shows before and after your show are? As long as your show is good I don't see why it matters. Also, Green Day have never been a band who changed their setlist loads! Not since they've been playing big venues anyway. They've always made a setlist and mostly stuck to it, and they've always preferred to stick to playing well known/classic songs and doing the same little on stage traditions rather than adding loads of new songs and making massive changes to the show. It's nothing new so there's nothing to be surprised about, don't know what all the whining's for

It's nothing new so there's nothing to be surprised about, don't know what all the whining's for I will say that the show has to be seen in person before the setlist can be truly evaluated. For example, I wasn't thrilled with these setlists until I attended the show on Saturday. Now I understand why the setlist is structured the way it is- it felt like the perfect mix of old and new songs for an arena show. Would I have loved it if the concert were 37 new trilogy songs and nothing else? Of course. But the audience was relatively flat for the the newer stuff, so the heavy mix of older hits was definitely warranted. Also, I've been very outspoken about the performance of KFAD/ Shout for a while...I groaned when I saw they were still playing it as I've long felt it was stale, relatively cheesy, and should be switched out for newer songs. However, after seeing it again in person the other night, I've changed my mind. It was a really fun part of the set and the audience ate it up. I've seen it 10 times at this point and even though it's nothing new, it seems to work so well that I can't see them dropping it any time soon. I have such a confusing love/hate relationship with that song!

It's easy to look at a setlist posted online and critique it or think it looks a bit boring (I've done so myself), but once you're there at the show it's another matter . The show they've expertly developed over the years works perfectly, I can't imagine anyone not enjoying it once they're there in the crowd caught up in it all. And even if you're seeing them more than once, there's so much more than just the setlist that makes one show different from another. All the little different things the band says and does, the venue, where you are in the crowd, the atmosphere etc. During the show itself the setlist suddenly isn't so important.
TheNimrod51 Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Watching cuatro kind of made me pissed off at the boys because so many of the trilogy's songs are amazing live. 8th ave. serenade, Kill the Dj, Makeout Party, Loss of Control. I just wish they would stop holding back on such great live songs.

One go, add the overdubs later.
Clayish Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Besides Billie looking great and having a good time on stage, the setlists have been pretty lackluster and unoriginal.
Hermione Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Besides Billie looking great and having a good time on stage, the setlists have been pretty lackluster and unoriginal. Do you really think those are the only good points to the show? I think there's a bit more to it than that. And the selection of songs they play makes that much difference to how good the show is? It's just one small element of it.
11Greendayfan Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Is a 2nd leg confirmed? And if so what is the likeliness of them coming to a place they were at the first leg. Like the Pittsburgh show. Is it likely they will come back to Pitt or somewhere close? And overall the set list was amazing. When I went in Pitt I loved every song. I'm glad Green Day covers a song from each album or tries to. I wouldn't mind one or two more trilogy songs but I didn't mind not having them honestly. But for the second leg if there is one I would think they would add in more trilogy songs.

Obviously the energy is high and they are just a really tight band on the stage. = The setlist is what makes the show for me. We've been hearing the same songs for sooooo long now. I know I can't speak for everyone, but I know that I'm really, really tired of hearing some songs. and the fact that 21st Century Breakdown was one of the best openers I've ever seen at a concert, while 99 Revolutions is a cringeworthy opener, but that's just me.
iScottie Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Tomorrow I hope they pull out a lot of older shit and a couple new things. First time in RI since 1997. It's gotta be sick!
tdlyon Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 I think the best shot for rarer songs, new or old, are the California shows. They LOVE California shows.

brutal kid Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Well I hope they'll finally play the new songs. American idiot and dookie were totally overplayed that its getting annoying now. 1039 slappy hours 2 or 3 songs, kerplunk 2 or 3, dookie 1, insomniac 1 or 2, warning, Ai 1, 21st 1 and other are from uno dos and tre

brutal kid Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 How to reply here? anyways do Green day care about the fans who bought the album? I wanna hear new songs, if I wanted to hear the old ones i can just go to yutube. And is it the final setlist or they'll change it? if they dont i can just say Green day's concerts have become damn boring. Somebody asked Mike Dirnt at the House Of Guitars yesterday for them to play Dirty Rotten Bastards last night and he said that they were thinking about it but were mostly waiting for more people to purchase Tre. That's a pretty bullshit excuse, in my opinion. First, the majority of people who are going to the concert have probably heard the Trilogy AT LEAST once. Secondly, if they play some of their newer songs, people would be more inclined to purchase the albums because they are ACTUALLY being promoted. REally? is it true? damn and dont tell me that Green day arent sellouts. They dont play it because it didnt sell well, man thats messed up, so disappointed

Not a lot of bands are doing this! 4-Therefore, stop complaining. We should feel lucky. I agree. I legitimately think we're so spoiled as fans... Every other concert I've gone to, I can look up the setlist online prior to the show and memorize it. No surprises, nothing. At least, with Green Day, I had several surprises during my show in Pittsburgh... Good Riddance being one of them. Yes, a song that's been overplayed a bajillion times made me happier than any new song that was played that night, even songs like Stay the Night and X-Kid that I expected would blow me away. They were good, but simply playing all new songs isn't feasible. No matter how well the albums sold, so I don't even buy that argument half the time. Simply put, a song that's been out for a decade is going to resonate with more people than a song that's been out less than a year. And for people who are going to their first concert, the band still has to cater to them. It isn't just about appealing to the whiny people who are lucky enough to go to several shows every year and who get bored with the setlist. Because most people (like me) aren't that lucky. Hell, if the shows with "shitty" setlists are so boring, I'll gladly take your tickets... I just can't fathom how any Green Day show could ever be boring to someone... tbh my only "expectation" for the next U.S. tour (maybe more of a "I wouldn't be surprised if this happened" thought)? Smaller venues. There's been a lot of talk about empty areas this tour; maybe they'll go for 10,000 seat venues instead of the mostly 12,000-20,000 like most on this tour. You think so? I feel like everyone is all "le gasp, the arena is empty!" when really they're looking at the pit being half-empty due to fire regulations... The only show I heard was really bad was Moline... were there others?

Fair enough then haha! See even if the setlist is important then what makes it good varies from person to person. For some hearing surprises/rarer songs is important but for others (like me ) hearing the classics and seeing the traditions that go with them etc is important. They've always liked to play the classics and keep traditions going (both because they like it and to ensure the crowd is into the show) so I dunno, I just wouldn't expect them to suddenly change that. It would be nice to see them slot some more new songs in though, hopefully as the tour goes on they'll become a bit more daring about that.
