Expectations for the "Trilogy Tour"

Speechless & Redundant

I don't see why Dirty Rotten Bastards would be difficult to play live.

The bass solo is killer but if Mike can play the "Stuck With Me" solo awesome, there's not reason he can't play that.

Plus i rate Billie and Jason enough to play that little shred too

Oh, I see... Poor Billie.

I'm sure it'll eventually get played but I don't see it being played so soon

I hope they don't go all retro and put sweatbands in the t-shirt cannon.

This is the closest thing to Dirty Rotten Bastards that we will get:

A better setlist

I want to hear songs like 8th Avenue Serenade,Kill the DJ,Dirty Rotten Bastards,The Forgotten,Fell For You,Rusty James,Wild One or Missing You but if I ever see them live I don't care what they will play.I just want to see them live.

Damn why are these setlists so boring? Where is Kill The DJ? Let Yourself Go? Where are the hits from the trilogy? Don't get me wrong I love 99 Revs, Brutal Love, and X-Kid but Kill The DJ is one of my favorite songs and I need to hear it live

Real talk - what do I do if I'm chilling at my venue and I see them? Anxiety is kicking in right now.

i never thought i would say this about GD (a band with long shows..~30songs per show..epic changing setlists)..but the actual setlist/s really fuck my ass..they just suck..

All I have to say is that the show I went to met my expectations and went beyond them. Still can't believe I was there.

I wonder when Billie Joe will realize that he's been singing "mad sex" instead of "mad love" towards the end of Brutal Love.

Best line of the lyrics, in my opinion. Such a shame to see it messed up :P

The line is bad sex...

All of you have to admit.. They are making up for not playing alot of new songs with songs like Letterbomb, Christie Road, Burnout, Disappearing Boy, and Only of You.

Dirty Rotten Bastards would obviously be the highlight of a Green Day show, yet they don't play it live! What are the reasons you think that Green Day doesn't put this on their set? Would you like it to be on the set? If not, why?

Posted

Because it's not that great of a song, it probably wouldn't do well with the majority of the audience, it's too long, and it's a ripoff of Shoplifter, so they might as well just play Shoplifter because Shoplifter is better.

(awaits the hate)

It's a good song and does actually sound very Green Day to me, but I'm not terribly shocked that it isn't mentioned ever and is absent from their setlist. There are just so many better songs off the trilogy that need to be played. There have to be sacrifices somewhere!

I'm personally upset about Amanda -- such a good one!

Merged.

It would be really awesome if they played DRB but it's a long song so they probably would have to stop playing Jesus of Suburbia because I don't think they would like to play two long songs. I love both songs so I'm happy they play JOS, but it would be amazing if they change it at some shows and play DRB instead.

That argument worked for the 21st Century Breakdown tour. I remember us freaking out about songs like Christie Road or Going To Pasalacqua being played because their last performance had been about 10 years ago.

But everyone has heard these songs in the meantime. Sure, they're adding a Brat or an Only Of You every here and then but what about the songs 95% of the audience hasn't heard so far?

I Was There, Dry Ice, Worry Rock, Westbound Sign, Private Ale, Deadbeat Holiday etc.

That would be pretty amazing!

I agree with the person above me, it worked before, but not so much now. Yeah, I'm definitely excited to hear Brat or Only Of You, it feels more like pandering than an honest desire to play the old stuff like on the 21st tour.

They have 37 new songs, as well tons of old ones (including hits) they never play, and this is the 99 Revolutions Trilogy tour. For the most part, they're playing the same setlist they played 2, 3, 4 years ago. I saw them in Pomona in early March, and have tickets to see them in LA on the 18th, and I really don't want to see the same songs in the exact same order that I saw a month prior. So honestly, I'm not expecting much from the April date. I will go, have a great time, and appreciate the fact that Green Day is still playing live. But I kind of feel like we might not ever get to hear most of the Trilogy live.

well im going to the LA performance which is the last of the US tour so hopefully they'll go out w/ a big bang I want see them play Wild One and DRB

Well for the Berkeley show, I expect them to really dig into their old stuff. Especially since they'll be like right up the street from Gilman, where they first started. Maybe they'll even play Kerplunk or Dookie in full!

XD LOL MY inner fanboy-ism!!!!
