TimmyChunks Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 they defo NEED a better stage set up for the large stadium shows ..... we all know they lost money on 21CB tour .. even some simple back drops u think they should have called the tour the uni dos tre tour part 1 - uno album cover as a Back drop play some uni track PART 2 - Dos album back drop# play some dos tracks Part 3 - Tre cover Tre Songs then back drop could be like international superhits and play the old stuff Where did you see or hear they lost money on that tour? I don't think that can possibly be the case. Most shows were sold out or close to sold out at over $50 a ticket- it would be pretty hard to lose money on a tour when you're grossing around a million per date give or take. Even if their fixed costs were really, really high it would have been nearly impossible to lose money. I could see the tour (like many others) being breakeven for tax purposes after paying the band members and all other expenses...but that's not the same as losing money in reality. That's a setup designed to minimize tax liability (assuming you were getting that technical in claiming the tour "lost" money).
Clayish Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 A screenplay of Great Expectations accompanied by Green Day dressed as the characters in it Rocky Horror Picture Show style with X-Kid as the music after the show....
The Green One Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 I really think the latest setlists are too harsh on 21CB. Sure, it wasn't their best album, but 21 Guns belongs in the setlist no matter what, and seeing East Jesus Nowhere make a return wouldn't be bad either.

I disagree about 21 Guns, but I'd be into seeing East Jesus Nowhere live. (I always feel so weird typing out the phrase "East Jesus Nowhere" since "March of the Dogs" was a much better song title." But anyway.)

It didn't have a spot in the 21st CB tour and I highly question it deserves one now. Its lyrics are unbelievably good, I must admit, but the song is overall very tiring.
The Green One Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 No, 21 Guns isn't even that good. It didn't have a spot in the 21st CB tour and I highly question it deserves one now. It did have a spot in the tour (being played 146 times in 152 concerts), and I really like it (it stands among my favorites on 21CB). Also, the one time I saw them, the song had the croud really invested.

Also, the one time I saw them, the song had the croud really invested. Of course it did, it was a popular single and people are always happy to be at Green Day shows. It's totally cool that you like it and want it played, I just disagree (and apparently so does DannyDirnt ova heah).

StPaul Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 Is Minority he only song they remember off of Warning? Honestly i would love to hear more from that album I'm still waiting for misery to be played somewhere.
WhiteTim Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 But it wasn't a sticky to the setlist like KYE or EJN were. A song that was played 98% of the entire tour makes it important track... Tho the song should've ended right beforethe it came back again making it a useless min
The Green One Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 But it wasn't a sticky to the setlist like KYE or EJN were. The only song played on every occasion was KYE. EJN was skipped twice and 21CB 3 times.
DecanoLP Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 The only song played on every occasion was KYE. EJN was skipped twice and 21CB 3 times. But not during the actual part of the tour. “Song Of The Century”, “21st Century Breakdown”, “Know Your Enemy”, “East Jesus Nowhere”, “Holiday”, “Are We The Waiting”, “St. Jimmy”, “Boulevard Of Broken Dreams”, “Brain Stew”, “Jaded”, “Basket Case”, “She”, “King For A Day”, “Shout (including some covers)”, “21 Guns”, “American Idiot” and “Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)” were the songs (=17) that were played at every single show throughout the entire 21CB - Tour (132 times).
JaHawk2009 Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 ...I hope they play Waiting at Leeds. And Dirty Rotten Bastards. I also hope Green Day have the 2-hour headline slot, but there are three top level headliners this year so it's really a close one of which will get that...
iScottie Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 Yes! At least in Austin (March 15th) they invited one fan on stage Here you have the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SqiNNd3Z8U I'm embarrassed for him.
Jessica Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 if they want to do a cover i really wish they'd do hybrid moments instead of the metal covers. didn't they play it live at least once? At least here! http://youtu.be/xQyCZx7Oe1o
Jaymee!! Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 My only expectation for the tour is that they actually play more than just 3-5 songs from their brand new catalog of 35 songs. That's what the tour is supposed to be promoting, isn't it? Can't say I've been happy with what setlists they've put together so far....though I suppose it's best to go with the easiest things to ween Billie back into the touring life.
Justin Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 I'm not even expecting the acoustic encore any more, i think that might have been just for the last tour (despite it being an awesome ender). I just hope to actually hear a good amount of new songs. The fact that i heard "Stay The Night, Oh Love, Lady Cobra, Stop When The Right Lights Flash, Nuclear Family" on the last round of tour dates hinders my judgement for sure. It would just be nice to have them play songs that this tour was supposed to promote. It's not as if many people are really going to walk out from the show going "oh fuck sake they didn't even play Minority*" (* replace with Basket Case, She, When I Come Around, American Idiot, Longview, King For A Day etc) It's not as if they aren't playing that many classics as it is. You can squeeze about 8/ 9 new songs into the current setlist.

Justin Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 I would, I've waited about 12 years to see them.... If they didn't play just one of those songs you would leave disappointed?
AlissaGoesRAWR Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 If they didn't play just one of those songs you would leave disappointed? If they didn't play ANY of them I'd be disappointed, since I've also waited about a decade to see them live... (except KFAD, couldn't care less about it...) But if a few were missing, I wouldn't care. As I keep saying, they'll play most of the big hits to accommodate such fans, even if it annoys people who have gone to several concerts.
Jon Benjamin Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 If they didn't play just one of those songs you would leave disappointed? not disappointed but it'd feel like something was missing if they didnt do some of the essentials
Rob Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Why the fuck they aren't playing Dirty Rotten Bastards, which is easily the best song out of the whole trilogy, is truly beyond me.
PanicAttack! Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 not disappointed but it'd feel like something was missing if they didnt do some of the Essentials Don't think she's talking about replacing all the classics with new songs, just some of them. To be honest, Green Day's setlist as it is, is beggining to get quite stale, and they actually have no excuse. They have semi-solved problems like this before. They wanted to play both iViva La Gloria!, Before The Lobotomy, Static Age and Give Me Novacaine on the last tour, so they gave them the same spot in the show and played one or two of them at each show. And occasionally American Eulogy took the place of Minority at the end of the main set. This way no song actually has to be eliminated completely. As an example I think that Dookie and American Idiot are way to dominate in the setlist. They could play Basket Case at every show and then have a spot for two out of the following four; Welcome To Paradise, Longview, She and When I Come Around. Wouldn't any old Dookie fan go home satisfied with any triple combination of the 5? From American Idiot they could play Boulevard of Broken Dreams at every show (in my opinion they could shift between that and 21 Guns, but I don't think people would like that), and then again have a spot for for two out of American Idiot, Holiday and St. Jimmy. Jesus Of Surburbia could be saved for occasional encore along with Homecoming and Dirty Rotten Bastards or something completely different. And Letterbomb could be interchangable with something like Murder City or another similar song. The point is, if Green Day fully embraced this idea of interchangable songs in the setlist, then their show would have a structure, be dynamic and evenly weighted every time, be satisfying for the casual concert goer, but still be surprising and fresh to both the band and the fans who have been to alot of shows and watched Bullet In A Bible and Awesome As Fuck a few too many times. It could easily make room for 10 new songs if that's not too much, without letting anyone down.
