Juicebox Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 I'm just glad that there's a mix of old and new songs
porksoda Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 agreed with all of this. do they really need to play longview, basketcase, when i come around and possibly either burnout or coming clean at every show? king for a day/shout is fun but they've been doing the same thing with it since 2004. i'm over it. i think pretty much everyone is over it. i sound like i'm complaning a lot but i just think there's so many trilogy songs that absolutely need to be played live that i don't give a fuck about hearing the old shit for the most part. disappearing boy was a nice addition to the set list a few nights ago though. but yeah, i'm really hopeful they're going to ditch the "uniforms" this tour and just wear normal clothes They have to play some hits, because not everyone is a hardcore fan like us, and I understand that, but playing nearly every hit off Dookie is unnecessary. But yeah, more trilogy and I'm all for more rarer stuff like Stuck With Me and Brat and Nice Guys, and in my wildest dreams, Armatage Shanks and Blood, Sex and Booze. They could drop King For A Day and fit in like 2-3 more songs and I doubt anyone would miss it. Idk, I don't think they'll disappoint us. They never do. They know they have new songs and that's what we want to hear. It'd be pretty stupid to tour for 3 new albums and play the same setlist from the 21st CB tour.
HolyHandGrenade Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 Here's an idea: Centralize concerts to certain cities, and have two days of shows at each stop. Day 1: All the hits, King for a Day/Shout, 2000LYA, Paper Lanterns, and 50% trilogy songs. Day 2: 65-70% trilogy songs, and stuff from Insomniac, Nimrod, and Warning. <------ OH MY GOSH
iScottie Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 Pretty sure they won't play much of the trilogy during the tour. I can see them adding on another 3-6 songs for the main leg of the tour, but most of it will be ridiculously overplayed songs like Know Your Enemy and King For A Day.
Awesompawsome Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 I'm finally going to go to my first GD concert this year (assuming they ever go to the Dallas area) and I can say without a doubt I really hope the setlist gets better because I wanna hear new songs, and they've played like what 10 out of 37 (not including anything before mid August) but I mean seriously every one is sick of king for a day and endless hey-ohs, I really hope they have a lot of the theatrics of the 21st century breakdown tour and play pre 94 songs and rarities (at least 4 would be nice) as well as come up with new things but my hope and interest is definitely waning at this pointBut I love his new guitar and how they look less dressed up for these concerts
iScottie Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 If they took out King For A Day / Shout, the Metal Covers, and all of the long, drawn out hey-ohs, how many more songs could they play? I'd personally like to hear AT LEAST 10-12 Trilogy songs and another 20 oldies, with some spur of the moment tunes thrown in. What's wrong with a 32-34 song setlist? They've played at least that many during the 21CB tour.

I'd rather see shorter sets than a relapse.
iScottie Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 I don't know, maybe something about the whole meltdown/going to rehab thing? He ran himself into the ground doing those sets. I'd rather see shorter sets than a relapse. Well they were going, going, and going for the past 10 years or so. They had American Idiot, The Network, The Foxboro Hot Tubs, a shit ton of American Idiot tour dates, an abnormal amount of 21st Century Breakdown tour dates, the American Idiot Musical, the Trilogy, promoting the Trilogy, etc. All of it unfortunately built up and ultimately ended up affecting Billie Joe's health and somewhat of the band's sanity. I guess it's better what they're doing now, but still an extra few songs and replacing a couple from the usual set doesn't seem like too much of a big deal to me. Also, do they still do The Drunk Bunny? Who's the person in the costume anyway?
Red Lights Flash Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 A Green Day show is always so much fun, but I do think that they took a step backwards for stage setup (no more LEDs) and setlist. So far, at least! On second thought, maybe I should've posted this in Unpopular Green Day Opinions.
Guest Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 I don't know whether to post this here or in the unpopular opinions thread but I really want them to keep KFAD, at least a little bit longer. I love their antics when they perform this, I love how they just act like total idiots & have a laugh.
Bastard of 1969 Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 Huh, I just saw the shows from Pomona and El Paso, and i have to say that they did it just as i expected. Playing songs that they didn't play for a while time.
DannyDirnt Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 If they dropped the Shout cover KFAD would be shorter and there would be no problem with it tbh.
TimmyChunks Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 KFAD and KYE need to be brutally murdered and left in a ditch ASAP. Seriously, who wouldn't want to see DRB instead? How's that for acronym overuse?agreed with all of this. do they really need to play longview, basketcase, when i come around and possibly either burnout or coming clean at every show? king for a day/shout is fun but they've been doing the same thing with it since 2004. i'm over it. i think pretty much everyone is over it. i sound like i'm complaning a lot but i just think there's so many trilogy songs that absolutely need to be played live that i don't give a fuck about hearing the old shit for the most part. disappearing boy was a nice addition to the set list a few nights ago though. but yeah, i'm really hopeful they're going to ditch the "uniforms" this tour and just wear normal clothes KFAD and the whole Shout schtick has been played constantly since the spring of '98 (they started doing it at festivals and had the trumpet/ trombone players from No Doubt play the horns section!). I thought it was old in 2004...so you know how I feel about it now!
WestboundSign! Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 I absolutely don't want them to drop King For A Day and all the fooling around coming along with it. Making it a little shorter would be fine with me, though. With its about 10 minutes length right now, I think the song itself and a short fun-mix would do for the future. But completely dropping it would be a pity, at least in my opinion. It's always that part during the concert where you see them fool around like complete idiots, like padackllins said. They just let go and seem to have even more fun than they already had before. I love seeing them like this and also me dancing around during that part.
DannyDirnt Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 The fooling around could be moved to Fuck Time though?
moonflower93 Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 Reducing the the time of KFAD would give them more time to perform other songs and it is a little lengthy as of now. Cutting out Shout or doing it every other concert or something else in between would vary up the setlist a little bit more.
HolyHandGrenade Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 The fooling around could be moved to Fuck Time though? They could just replace Shout with Fuck Time or Troublemaker and keep the 10 minutes of crazy that they want. I'd be fine with that, plus we'd get to hear another trilogy song.
iScottie Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 All I know is that we need something epic during the main leg of the tour.
gd86arg Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 I'm not sure if anybody seconds this, but I think that Walk Away would be a really great arena song! And Missing You & 8th Ave Serenade!
HolyHandGrenade Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 I'm not sure if anybody seconds this, but I think that Walk Away would be a really great arena song! My top 3... least likely to get played: - Nightlife - Sweet 16 - Drama Queen best crowd interaction: - Walk Away - Dirty Rotten Bastards - (tie) Let Yourself Go, Wow! That's Loud most played non-singles (excluding 99 Revs): - Dirty Rotten Bastards - Nuclear Family - Brutal Love

The 99 Revolutions tour had only been club shows yet I think it will be like @ the iHeart Radio festival http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OnjoHH6zy84
LisaBJA Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 I want to get on stage and that Billie Joe kiss me
Letterbomb44 Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 I want to get on stage and that Billie Joe kiss me Doesn't everyone
PanicAttack! Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 I just thought to myself that it could be a thing if everybody painted pink crosses on their eyes at the shows, like warpaint... gay warpaint. I'd be surprised if somebody hasn't come up with this already.
