Tre - Yellow Vinyl (Hot Topic Exclusive)

I managed to get one up at Cactus Music in Houston, Texas after work one day. How or why they had the Yellow Vinyl there I have no clue. I bought both Dos and Tre from there on black and then ordered their respective colored versions from HT. I really hope everyone that wants one can get their hands on one. I can't see how a record pressed in 1,000 units is already sold out. But if they were on eBay before Hot Topic it's because the stores all got copies and maybe the online shop got less copies this time around? I guess it depends how HT decides to distribute it throughout the stores. Fellow Houstonians do keep in mind that when I was last at Cactus all the LPs were gone. They only got two or 3 copies in. Check Sound Exchange or Vinal Edge maybe.

Felt compelled to post this here in case some GDCers are planing on joining the $60-100 ebay bidders:

This record is NOT SOLD OUT. Please do not spend exorbitant amounts on ebay or elsewhere.

What is happening is one of two things:

1. The Hot Topic site is glitching out and they're having problems with the item listing. This happened for both Uno! and Dos! and was fixed within the next day or so (Tre! may just be taking a bit longer to be fixed). If this is so, Tre! will go back up as soon as HT figures out the issue, they're often slow with this and their site isn't the greatest...

2. Hot Topic just started a store-wide 25% off sale. Sometimes they remove certain popular items during these sales so that they can charge more once the sale is done. Yes, I know that's pretty annoying and dumb but it's just how they roll. If this is so, it will be back up after the sale ends (not sure when that is, probably sometime next week).

This is a pressing out of 1000, it will not sell out very quickly once listed for real. Uno! took months to sell out and Dos! is still available. Plus, Tre! has even less hype than the other two since some potential buyers would have lost interest in the Trilogy by now and it was not as well advertised AND it did not have a set HT-Pressing release date.

This was also somewhat confirmed by a guy who works mainly with the vinyl stock of Hot Topic on another forum/board.

Thank god this person was right!! Haha

Is it safe to say HT is worse than Warner on orders

I still want the Trilogy but i don't know if it's worth it.

My order for Tre was just now, $28.87.

Thank you guys for the link, I'm new here but I wanted to post this as I found your info useful....

HTX710

That will get you 10% off your first purchase (must create a new account first at hot topic....just use a different email address if you already have one.)

i feel so bad for the people who bought the record for over 100 dollars on ebay if this new listing is going to work

This came in the mail today :)

I also ordered one from Hot Topic. Gee, what to do with that one ;)

Awesome! Sell it to me if my order doesn't go through! So far, no cancellation email on my order yesterday...

I'm feeling pretty optimistic about this now that I haven't gotten another "sold out" email.

I don't. And I consider myself to be one of the most impatient people around. If they couldn't wait a day or two...

I hate the assholes that buy records like these as soon as they come out just so they can sell them on eBay. It's one thing to own a record for awhile, then decide you don't want it, and sell it. But I don't see what the problem is with letting a fan who is genuinely interested in buying the record get it for its actual price. People are just assholes.

That's pretty easy for you to say in hindsight, considering that the Hot Topic ordering is now working. When I bought mine on eBay, it was after my Hot Topic (and everyone else's) were getting cancelled and the page said "Sold Out." Most people, including myself, didn't feel too optimistic that they'd be getting the colored vinyl. So what did we do? Resorted to a medium in which we could get it, and eBay worked out for me.

Not assholes, they're just taking advantage of our capitalistic society. When things are monetarily tight, you have to be selfish. Just the way it goes.

Fair point. I guess I can't argue with that.

And I'm not necessarily arguing with you, I'm more providing the view point from the other side of the table.

Yeah, I guess that was poorly phrased, I didn't see it as an argument either. It does make sense when you look at it that way.

Didn't feel too optimistic after what? Less than 48 hours? I've been collecting vinyl for over a decade. I've scooped up releases that have quite literally sold out within mere hours. If the ¡Dos¡ LP was limited to 1,500 and is still up on the site at this point then did you truly think all 1,000 of the ¡Tré! LPs would be gone within less than a week? It's common sense. Even if it was 100% sold out you would have been better off waiting for a price drop. If you won that auction just take the negative feedback and order it from Hot Topic. It's your money though.

You rag on him but you shop at Catcus who are notorious for hiking up their prices you could have got your copy nearly half less at Black Dog Records...

But it was a legit concern for some yes HT had fucked up Uno and Dos as well but unlike them they never got a sold out email AFTER purchasing it like they did with Tre so there were legitimate concern with it being sold out...

It was $22. $24 with tax. That's cheaper than Hot Topic. And if Black Dog Records even had any they most likely would have been traditional black vinyl, not the Yellow version. Again. Common sense. All the trilogy records I picked up at Cactus ran around $24 a piece. That's far less than Amazon or Hot Topic when you factor in the recent shipping price increases.

Um yellow version at catcus? I call bs on that the ht vinyls arent shipped from the same place as the black vinyls... but stranger things has happened

24? Must have been the first week... when i was there in December they had Dos for 30 AAF for 35

Black Dog had dos for 20 with the lithograph Tre for 20 with lithogtaph and guitar pics and AAF for 15

Call BS on it all you want. I was blown away too. I don't know if they special ordered it or what. Or if maybe they went and bought one from Hot Topic and just put it on the shelf? AAF was a Double Gatefold and a limited colored vinyl as opposed to a 2 sided single LP like the trilogy was.

Two of the AAF copies they had in stock came with the T-shirt too if I recall. I got lithographs with all three trilogy LPs as I picked them up. Cactus even went as far as to give me 2 of each. Plus two sets of guitar picks when I picked up Dos. For only $24 per visit over the course of four months it seems more than reasonable. Plus the massive poster I got from their window when Uno came out. Cactus is ok. I don't care for their selection of music outside of Green Day. They were selling the Iron Maiden picture discs for $40 a piece. More than excessive but I think that's what keep places like that afloat in this economy. I'm more of a Black, Death, Thrash metal kind of guy anyways. It's not like I spend much time inside hipster joints apart from a few specific reasons. In this case Green Day.
