How would you rearrange the trilogy?

The question of the thread was how we would rearrange the songs that already exist, I'm a bit surprised that people want to delete some, because that just wasn't the question... and I wouldn't wanna miss one single song of the triology, although naturally I don't like all of them the same way. So probably, "Lazy Bones" would have been great on Tré, because to me it's the perfect hangover-song. But I wouldn't touch the rest of the setlist. The guys knew what they did and what they wanted to tell us by putting the tracks together the way they are, so it's not our turn to try and know better - it's our turn to listen more eagerly and find out what the wanna tell us, in my opinion.

i think uno sucks dos is second place and tre is number one.

Problem?

I would make only one album with some songs from trilogy, or only Dos and I'd added X-kid, Nuclear Family and Little Boy Named Train or Amanda as b-sides.

I still find it interesting how we fans don't ever agree on what songs are best and which are the most poor. I was talking the other day with a friend that's a huge Children of Bodom fan, he was saying that there's consensus in Children of Bodom's fandom that certain songs shouldn't be in the albums, and he asked me why didn't Green Day put out an album with the best songs and leave the other ones out or as b-sides or someting (I was talking about my hate for Nightlife xD). I should send him the link of this topic

I wouldn't change anything but the singles. They would have been much better off introducing the trilogy with Stay the Night.

And man, I'll never get the hate for Dos. For me, i's just so much fun to listen to. And I'm finally beginning to come around on Tre.

Cut it down to one album, get rid of all the filler.

Posted

I think the only change I would make is replacing 99 Revolutions with any other song on Tre. 99 Revolutions just seems like the most unfitting song to put before The Forgotten.

What's with the hate for iDos!?

Another one. Good god how many of these types of threads do we need.

Most of my friends are not big fans of Green Day but when I played Kill the DJ to them, they could not stop but play it throught the whole week, while eating, sleeping, shitting etc.I aint joking, all(I played it for like 5 of them) So all those who think KIll the DJ should be eliminated I dont agree with you.I would remove Sweet 16, Troublemaker,Makeout Party and See You Tonight from the trilogy but NOTHING ELSE.I would have loved to see that one album with 34 songs.

FYI, Uno! climbed up to #135 from #175 in two weeks on Billboard and Dos! from #93 to #79 in this week. There is still hope for humanity

Uno has done well this year, except for Babel, I think Uno did better than all Rock albums that released this year, Including the 2nd law from Muse, Living Things from Linkin Park(it wasnt in the chart till last week, reentered at #170), King Animal from Soundgarden. So It's nothing like this trilogy was a flop or something. If tre manages to chart next week on billboard(which it will surely, at #3 or #4 ), I think this would be the first time when an Artist had 3 ALBUMS charting together in a chart.Isn't that good?

Posted

1. Nuclear Family

2. Stay the night

3. Let yourself go

4. Kill the DJ

5. Lazy Bones

6. Ashley

7. Baby Eyes

8. Nightlife

9. Wow, that's loud!

10. Brutal Love

11. Missing you

12. X-Kid

13. Sex, Drugs & Violence

14. Little boy named Train

15. Amanda

16. The Forgotten

For single picking I'd go with these five:

"Let yourself go"

B-Sides: Loss of control (In this case still named "Chrushing Bastards") and Stop when the red lights flash

"Kill the Dj"

B-Side: 8th Avenue Serenade

"Lazy Bones"

"X-Kid"

"The Forgotten"

I made this playlist on my Iphone and it suits so perfect, anyway I love all 37 songs, seriously NONE of them disappointed me but probably I'll listen to this playlist for a few days or so.

Maybe because Green Day is multi-genre. So you have me here that like's the punkier songs, but also the pop songs. Then there's the other guy that likes the hardcore rock n roll, and someone else might like ballads better.

take Lady Cobra and Nightlife out and then do a double album instead of a trilogy.

I'm just gonna make a 15 song perfect album using the trilogy songs. A lot of crap could've been cut out

1) Wow! that's loud!

2) Nuclear Family

3) Brutal Love

4) Lazy Bones

5) Let Yourself Go

6) Fuck Time

7) Wild One

8) Rusty James

9) Dirty Rotten Bastards

10) Walk Away

11) Amy

12) X-Kid

13) Kill the DJ

14) Nightlife

15) Oh Love

BOOM. 5/5 album.

I actually checked before making this thread to see if there were any others like it.

There weren't.

Tre and Uno is a double album and Dos doesn't exist.

The only problem I have with that is that Dos has Stray Heart and Amy, which are two of my favorites of the trilogy.

I've actually been working on my own double album mix of the trilogy. So far it's definitely strengthened some of the weaker songs in my mind!

If Lazy Bones was on ¡Tré! you'd have some sort of super-album. Oh my god. :D

Anyway, for me ¡Uno! < ¡Dos! < ¡Tré! but I still loved all three. If something was to be done I might like it to be evened out a bit but to be honest I think it's almost perfect the way it is.

There are only 2 songs out of the 37 which I don't really like all that much (Nightlife and Makeout Party, I think they're all right but just not for me) but other people do like them so they should stay. Plus there's no point getting rid of an alright song and replacing it with nothing!

I wouldn't rearrange it at all. :)

I wouldn't change much about the tracklists. I do think there is a few songs that seem more likely to be on another album (Troublemaker -> iDos!, Lazy Bones -> iTré!), but those songs are helping making each album more diverse on it's own, musically and lyrically. Troublemaker is a stand-out track on iUno!, but on iDos! people would just have said "that sounds like fuck time...". That each album works individually on its own is far more important than every song on the album sounding similar or fitting into one lyrical theme.

What I would've changed though, is the name of the albums and therefore, most importantly, the order in which they were released.

iUNO! (would be the songs of iDos!)

iDOS! (would be the songs of iTré!)

iTRÉ! (would be the songs of iUno!)

They would've started out with the shock effect, releasing the most non-suspected Green Day sounding record. With a lead single like Stray Heart, and a following single of either Fuck Time or Amy. Would've followed a fast warm-up world tour of small club shows. They wouldn't go all out before the second album where they would've aimed for the broad appeal, peaking with singles like X-Kid, The Forgotten and 99 Revolutions. Followed by alot of commercial appearances and performances. Lastly they would hit all the haters and critics who thought Green Day had lost touch of their sound, with iTré! (iUno!), wrapping up the trilogy with a few singles like Nuclear Family and Let Yourself Go, and a world tour.

I'd just swap "Sex, Drugs and Violence" and "Stray Heart".

Posted

I would only have really rethought the singles. Releasing Kill the DJ was bad. No one wanted to play it here. I probably would remove Ashley from the track list entirely. It adds no value for me. As for he other random weird songs, like Nightlife, I like them because they are different. Dos is my least favorite album, but it's got some gems on it too. I like that all 3 albums show different styles of GD all over. And for the first time in a long time I can put something on shuffle and really enjoy it.

Man, now I feel bad for actually liking Oh Love and Kill the DJ.
