¡TRÉ!

UNO: Billie's voice sounds really weird and i don't like it. I would say his vocal range has gotten better but the way they produced his voice sounds not so good especially when they're trying to make the album sound raw. these songs would kick ass live but the studio versions just aren't that great because billie's voice is way too clear for a supposed back to basics album. No tracks in particular are bad and some are good but most just sound fine.

DOS: Better than UNO but more inconsistent. Most tracks were pretty awesome but others flat out sucked or were mediocre. His voice still sounds way to produced, especially in fuck time when it should be raw as fuck. they shouldve recorded it in a garage without Cavallo. the same goes for Uno, these two albums could've been so much more if they recorded them in their garage imo.

TRE: Billie's voice is much more fitting with this epic album. The best of the trilogy by a mile, because it flat out knocked my socks off. Every song is reflective and catchy. Some songs moved me in a way i've never been moved (Brutal Love more specifically) and even if the tracks weren't perfect they still had meaningful lyrics and are still good. the best two songs of the trilogy are on this album as well. Brutal Love and Dirty Rotten Bastards are flat out amazing

But worst decision was turning down the distortion.

I completely agree. As good as the guitars sound, it's not the Green Day I fell in love with. I think all of these songs would "rock" more with the harder guitars. And more layered guitars too, instead of just two - one left, one right.

Triology is great, really.

But worst decision was turning down the distortion.

The riffs are amazing but it just sounds less kick ass.

And TRE is amazing. So are DOS and UNO.

Tré might not kick ass, but it prods serious buttock.

And sometimes it's nicer to get prodded than kicked.

true story. But I feel this albums could be so much more. But I won't complain. It was an exciting time. And will be. :)

For me, this is their worst album since American Idiot. It's just...boring. None of the songs are memorable except for Brutal Love and Dirty Rotten Bastards. I'm trying desperately to hear where all this praise for X-Kid is coming from but I can't. Little Boy Named Train is the worst song of the trilogy. The rest of the songs are interchangeable, droning radio-rock. Oh well, two great albums out of three isn't anything to complain about.

¡Dos! > ¡Uno! >> ¡Tré!

But..but...but American Idiot is their best! :runaround:

I agree Dos is the best of the trilogy by far though.

X-Kid and Little Boy Named Train are my favorites. Little Boy named train has such a stong and catchy melody. But overally the best of the three in my opinion. I also really liked the fact out of all the additional instruments they couldve picked for the first track they picked horns and it fits so perfectly.

EDIT: Also I dont get why everyone gets so butthurt about changing something like guitar sound. I took a long break from green day before I heard about these albums coming out so I came out with an open mind and these albums as a trilogy reminded me of why GD stood out so much to me when I was so young.

It´s late in Germany, I´m tired, but I listened to Tré (but only the stream, didn´t buy the album yet). Hm... my very first impression... so much tralala... I like Dirty Rotten Bastards (though the song somehow doesn´t know which direction it wants to go). Like Walk Away and The Forgotten and Drama Queen. But others... hm... I didn´t really like 99 Revolutions when I heard it live in Berlin. Lyrics and rhythm don´t go well together for my ears. Well, gonna listen to that stuff when I´m awake again. Maybe I´ll change my mind when I listen to the album in better quality. It didn´t blow my mind so far, like Dos did.

And I think I can say that Dos remains my favourite.:dance:

Okay, gonna get some sleep, and give it another try. ;)

brutal love has pretty much the same exact intro verse as sad savior by taking back sunday :bunny:

... and even more flashing red lights on Tré... very funny. :D

The more I listen to this album, the more I enjoy it. It has a kind of light-hearted feeling to it. Even though some of these songs aren't happy, I feel happy when I listen to the album. I'm appreciating the music more and more too. I dunno, it's just overall good :) But Dos is still my favorite.

On the cover of Tre there's a sticker that writes "featuring X-Kid,8th Avenue Serenade and 99 Revolutions"...Are these the singles?

Also on the cover of Dos there's a sticker that writes "feauturing Amy,Stop When The Red Lights Flash and Stray Heart".

I'm trying really hard to not listen to the whole album yet. I have listened to a few songs though, and I gotta say, Brutal Love is overwhelmingly beautiful. It is so emotional. Its gorgeous. Billie's singing is phenomenal. They lyrics are phenomenal. I love it. It is so rich and layered and just... wow.

It might be hard to say at the moment, fingers cross they release some of them when promotion picks up again. I think ones on Tre are good choices

It's just an incredibly nice album to listen to. The musicianship is top-notch, as good or better than anything they've ever done.

Yeah, it's most likely they are. Personally I would have selected Missing You over 8th Avenue Serenade as a single, but it's a solid choice.

99 Revolutions because it's repetitive and get's stuck in your head, and X-Kid because it's one of the best songs Green Day have ever done :D

X-Kid needs motorcycles like Kill The DJ. And 99 Revolutions would just be live footage mixed up with some protests or something. It basically writes itself.

Looking forward to listening to it on DEC 11!!!! I'm not really sure why I deprive myself of new Green Day.....I just have a "thing" about release dates

For 99 Revolutions i'm thinking something like Minority but with more chaotic atmosphere. We have to direct this video. :D

Nah, 99 Revolutions brings to mind large crowds going nuts. Minority purposely avoided that, for some reason. 99 R is an anthem of sorts.
