The Snark Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 Sorry if this has already been said...I don't feel like reading through tons of pages. I just noticed that the very beginning of DRB sounds exactly the same as the beginning to Pink's So What. Video under spoiler, cause I love it. http://youtu.be/FJfFZqTlWrQ

I just noticed that the very beginning of DRB sounds exactly the same as the beginning to Pink's So What. Video under spoiler, cause I love it. http://youtu.be/FJfFZqTlWrQ It actually sounds like "Les Toreadors" from the opera "Carmen" from George Bizet. The part I mean is at minute 1:08. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4DNGMoMNLRY
Kid A Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 Dirty Rotten bastards is so glorious, I think this was the perfect end to the trilogy and was pretty surprised that cigarettes and valentines is not in it..
Blond-O-Sonic Shimmer Trap Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 Still can't make my mind up on Walk Away. The chord progression is so tired and the chorus is pretty boring, but the key change/subsequent guitar solo/heeeeys are one of my favourite parts of the trilogy. Actually this is kind of a theme of the album, the songs I don't like do still tend to have a neat guitar/piano part. The solo in The Forgotten and the piano jingles in Drama Queen are really good even if the songs themselves (due to the lyrics being terrible) aren't.
Jax Teller Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 Dirty Rotten bastards is so glorious, I think this was the perfect end to the trilogy and was pretty surprised that cigarettes and valentines is not in it.. Yeah,Dirty Rotten Bastards is EPIC!!!!I hope in the future to hear some b-sides like cigarettes and valentines, dreamcatcher, olivia,oh girl. Also, I think cigarettes and valentines fits better in Uno.
Carrot Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 I really like how some songs sound like The Beatles. Makes me happy
Pieces of Truth Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 Dirty Rotten bastards is so glorious, I think this was the perfect end to the trilogy and was pretty surprised that cigarettes and valentines is not in it.. Cigarettes and Valentines doesn't fit the trilogy sound wise.
Jax Teller Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 Cigarettes and Valentines doesn't fit the trilogy sound wise. I think Cigarettes and Valentines fits only in Uno. I really like how some songs sound like The Beatles. Makes me happy For me some songs sound like Buzzcocks,Undertones and Cheap Trick but I hear Beatles too.

Asa. Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 I know a while back somebody asked how many times Billie sings the words "Walk Away" in "Walk Away". And the answer to that is 23.
inthehallwaynow Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 I know a while back somebody asked how many times Billie sings the words "Walk Away" in "Walk Away". And the answer to that is 23. wow i would have guessed more ...seems appropriate now.. at least to me
WestboundSign! Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 iTré! definitely became one of my all time favorite Green Day albums. I do really like the whole triology, but iTré! is a lot more outstanding for me. I love how the songs are deep, meaningful, thoughtful and still very personal. I think the lyrics make it so special to me - but there's also something about the music and the sound that creates an extraorindary vibe. No idea how to explain that. Anyways.. I also gotta say that "Sex, Drugs & Violence" grew a lot on me lately. Listening to that track on repeat lately.
Gregorovich Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 The first thing that struck me about Julianna Homicide was that it sounds just like a rip-off of Sum 41's Jessica Kill
Guest Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 video :x http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CeYHOCXV40w
Guest Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 video :x Holy shit, is that official? Even if it isn't, it's fucking awesome.
ZSebs Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 Whenever I hear the first minute of Dirty Rotten Bastards, I always think of this picture.
YshouldMyFunHave2End Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 I forget where I heard this, but I think "Drama Queen" was written around the time of American Idiot. Does anybody know if this is true? and if so I think it could be a song about Whatsername form the point of view of JOS/St. Jimmy. Just a thought...

The sure thing is that it was to be released in 21st CB but at the last moment replaced it with Murder City.Whenever I hear the first minute of Dirty Rotten Bastards, I always think of this picture. Oh man, since you mention it I can't get out of my mind the image of the video with them dressed like that.
Scottman Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Still can't make my mind up on Walk Away. Agreed, especially about Walk Away; I have the same problem with it. It is also bothersome how many melodies Green Day is rehashing. As much as I want to enjoy DRB, the Shoplifter melody in the verses is difficult to let slide. The repetiveness of many of these songs is pretty disheartening as well; it's like they just said, "That's good enough," when it wasn't. Overall I think a better title for this Trilogy should be, "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly." There are some good songs, but the Trilogy suffers from a case of Quantity Over Quality.

Scottman Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Well it IS 37 songs. So the moral of the story is, don't release 37 songs when only a handful of them are worth releasing.
Sarcasm Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 So the moral of the story is, don't release 37 songs when only a handful of them are worth releasing. Your opinion clashes with mine then. I have found a few songs I don't like, but it's not because I've connected them to other songs with similar melodies or themes. If it was one album with 17 songs, I wouldn't get as exited as I have for the trilogy. The suspense before each leak have made some of my favorite GDC moments ever.
Cob Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 So the moral of the story is, don't release 37 songs when only a handful of them are worth releasing. How much do you want to bet that the songs you think are worth releasing aren't the same for other people.
